Customer Reviews

I like it very much an it seeems to make the VF-2 image bette.
Tommy E Hall
It does a great job of blocking stray light, and as a bonus, you can use it to turn the VF-2's eyepiece for the diopter adjustment.
M. Elek
It's a little finicky to put on at first, but once you get it on, it does wonders.

This eyecup is a must for the viewfinder. Keeps the light out when focusing. For me it was easy to install although I have read others have issues. There is an alignment mark on the eyecup to match with the viewfinder if you look carefully.

It may be my personal tastes but I found it awkward to use and it is very large. I prefer the standard eye-piece on the VF-2.

Because the VF-2 has extra eye relief for eye glass wears, those not wearing glasses need to place their eye too far from the eyepiece for easy centering. My brow didn't touch the eyepiece frame so I felt unsteady. I installed the accessary rubber eyecup (EP-9 Eyecup) and it proved to be a wonderful upgrade: blocks stray light, is comfy, easier to center the eye and allows me to brace the camera against my face for steadier shooting. It should be included with every VF-2 but at least you have the option of adding one yourself. I found it mildly challenging to install but it was only 5 or 6 minutes of toil and I'm never taking it off!

A little finicky to attach, but is pretty much a requirement for the VF-2 outside in daylight. The size is a good balance between blocking outside light and being so big it gets in the way.

One benefit of using an eye-level viewfinder is that resting the finder on your eyebrow gets a third point of stabilization for composing and taking your shot. It's comfortable to use and a good worth-while addition to a VF-2 finder.
I also think having it enclosed around your eye may prevent light from it leaking into the sensor from behind the camera and distorting the metering as it would have on an old film SLR, but I'm not sure about that.
The only small problem I have with it is that it protrudes further back than the back of the camera and is a little awkward to carry around when the camera is hanging on its strap.
