Customer Reviews

Would not recommend, especially since a lot of devices have a digital fisheye setting.

I've been very happy with the Olympus TG-2 TOUGH camera and am now enjoying the versatility that the fisheye lens gives to my photography. The fisheye effect allows you to get a much wider field of vision when taking photos of a group of people - no need to wave folks closer together - and gives cool, odd, renditions of outdoor landscape shots, though the image isn't quite as myopic as a traditional fisheye lens where your image is viewed within a circular portrait. Rather, this fisheye lens grabs elements at the outer edge of your traditional field of vision and bends them into the frame.

Be aware that you need to purchase the Olympus CLA-T01 Conversion Lens Adapter for the TG-1/TG-2 so that you can screw it onto your camera. The fit is pleasingly tight, but that also means that when you simply want to swap off the fisheye lens and return to normal point & shoot mode, sometimes the entire housing - the fisheye lens and the lens adapter - will unscrew together, and then you'll need to unscrew the two of them to put the lens adapter back on. The nice thing about the lens adapter is that it comes with a lens cap, whereas the TG-2 I have has no lens cap, meaning the lens is always exposed to the elements. So the adapter has its uses simply being affixed to the front of your TG-2.

This lens converter works excellently. The one problem is that the lens is wide enough to partially block the TG-2 onboard flash, casting a deep shadow on to your subject. Try to avoid taking flash pictures with converter.

This lens is great and is waterproof just like the camera, but I did have a few problems with the design of the mount though. First off, this lens blocks the flash making it essentially useless. Secondly, and most importantly, the mount where these lenses attach to the olympus is a bit finicky and not very secure. I actually lost this lens underwater because it doesn't secure very well to the camera. I understand that this is probably my own fault for not checking it, but I would prefer the lens to lock in like other interchangeable lens systems rather than a simple 30 degree turn being all it takes to fall out. If you purchase this lens, ensure that it is always secure or you might lose it.

great fast lens with relatively sharp images used in florida and Bonaire, together with the Olympus TG2 it is comparable to a Nikon 7000 at a great price and size. the negative is it blocks the flash and LED guide on the camera ,so flash with a homemade diffuser and night snorkel photography is more difficult. soon to use with a slaved strobe to try to over come the problem.

I love my TG-2 camera and this lens adds some extra usefulness to it. While I would not call it a true fisheye it does go wide enough to make it a great addition to the camera. Great price for the performance offered. Very happy.

I really enjoyed using this lens while snorkeling and kayaking in Florida. The lens gave my pictures an extra flare, and the wide angle gave the videos just the range I needed.

I would give 5 stars but found one drawback: When you first submerse the camera under water, there is an air bubble in the lens and it can take some jiggling to get it out. I found this annoying when I needed to needed to get a picture quickly.

Fisheye Lens worked great! My "issues" were drying out after wet uses: I would take lens off, dry it with a lens cloth and let it sit out/ separated from the camera body for a while. Sometimes there would be condensation when I put it back on still, and I'd repeat the drying. The lens cover for the Fisheye fell off sometimes, but the glass is thick and heavy and didn't get scratched, but sometimes got finger prints when I reached for it after the lens cover fell off.
