5.0 out of 5 stars Superb US flag and pole, sewn, NOT silk screened, July 30, 2007
This review is from: Olympus Flag & Banner RK7111NOB Deluxe 6-Foot House Mount Pole with United States Flag Set (Lawn & Patio)
It is difficult, to say the least, to find a decent US flag at a bargain price.

Most low cost flags are silk screened designs on nylon fabric. They fade rapidly and look cheesy. They are nothing I would want flying from my house. This flag, however, is sewn of individual self-dyed pieces, not silk screened as is so often the case. I suspect (I've only had it for a couple of months) the color will hold brilliantly. The construction of the flag was simply superb.

Coupled with that was a pole held together with more than compression joints. The pole locked the individual elements together. That and a galvanized steel mounting plate make this a sturdy flag that I'm sure will withstand moderate to heavy winds.

I was not in love with the nylon knurled knobs that attached the pole to the flag, but my concerns were easily mitigated by a small piece of white para-cord halfway up the flag.

In short, this is a good flag at a reasonable price.

This review is from: Olympus Flag & Banner RK7111NOB Deluxe 6-Foot House Mount Pole with United States Flag Set (Lawn & Patio)
As the previous reviewer, R. Woodbury, states, this is an outstanding flag, especially for the price. BUT... the price is reflected in the less-than-pleasing pole and bracket that comes with it. It did NOT hold up in even moderate wind (10-15 mph gusts). The nylon knurls both gave way (popped loose from the band) which would have sent the flag fluttering to the ground if I hadn't done what Woodbury suggested (adding some cord to attach the middle of the flag to the pole). Later in the day, after replacing the knurls with screws (drilled holes into the pole and used metal screws to attach the flag), the top section of the pole vibrated loose (I assume because of wind gusts, still less than 15 mph)leaving the flag dangling. I fixed that issue by drilling holes where the pole pieces locked together and used more metal screws to lock the pieces together more or less permanently.

As I stated above, I love the flag, so I'm just going to look for a better, more substantial pole to fly it from after the Independence Day holiday.
