4.0 out of 5 stars Works with SP-560 UZ also,, December 22, 2007

This review is from: Olympus PT-037 Underwater Housing for SP-550 UZ (Electronics)
I've used this housing on one trip so far (7 dives, 110 ft. max). While it was originally designed for the SP-550 UZ, I used it for the SP-560 UZ, which has the same dimensions and buttons, and it worked fine. With two O-rings and two latches, this is a solid housing. It's also a very large housing as far as non-SLR cameras go. Because of the SP-550's and SP-560's wide angle lenses, the lens port is very large, so large that it obstructs the flash. The solution is the large, mirrored diffuser. Make sure you know how to attach it properly, or it could drop off. The cover for the lens port is very large (about 5x8 inches), and is tethered to the housing - it is negatively buoyant, but it can get in the way of downward shots. The housing has a lot of empty space inside, so it is very buoyant (I'd guess somewhere between a half of a pound to one pound). I'll try attaching some weights on my next trip. The buttons are typical for a consumer-level housing, small and close together. They weren't a problem in tropical water without gloves, but might be a problem for cold water divers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid underwater Housing with a Problem, December 7, 2007
This review is from: Olympus PT-037 Underwater Housing for SP-550 UZ (Electronics)
The PT-037 is a solid underwater housing. I used it 43 times on a recent dive trip with no leakage. It is easy to change settings underwater. The one problem is the large "rube goldberg" diffuser. It is precariously attached to the housing and, in fact, fell off the housing at the end of the first dive. Fortunately my buddy picked it up. This problem can be solved by securing the diffuser to the housing with a string or tielock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Underwater Housing, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Olympus PT-037 Underwater Housing for SP-550 UZ (Electronics)
I bought this underwater housing along with the Olympus SP-560 UZ to try my hand at underwater photography. I brought it with me on a trip to Roatan and the case was everything I would expect from Olympus. No leaks, not overly heavy, the flash diffuser is nice and the button layout is ergonomic and easy to use even with dive gloves. The pictures taken came out as well as I could hope for my first ever underwater photos (Cloudy day didn't help). I think the next thing I purchase will be the external flash to bring more colors to my photos. Overall really nice product with the ability to add to it, unlike some other U/W Housings. Would recommend if you are looking to purchase and camera and U/W housing and not break the bank.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but bulky, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Olympus PT-037 Underwater Housing for SP-550 UZ (Electronics)
This is a real nice case for the Olympus camera, but it is bulky. The camera is not small either, but add the case to it and it is a lot to heft around to your swim and/or dive area. Have only used it to snorkel depth at this point, but it is sturdy and appears well made. Since I like all things water, I always buy Olympus camera's since they make nice underwater cases that are a value compared to Ike Lite and others. Recommended.

Worth picking up. One of the best UW housings that I owned and/or used. I thought is was going to be a little bulky, but it is not. The only down fall is that the diffuser is a little too large.
