As a member of the US Armed Forces I'm all about putting my equipment through wet, dirty, cold, and generally hellacious conditions - enter the 1030SW, the only camera I've found that can take the kind of beating my profession delivers and still come back for more. The silicon case is an excellent accessory; the camera is easier to handle when wet, even more damage resistant, and the added protection is inexpensive.

Unfortunately, as noted in an earlier customer review, the silicon skin prevents the user from accessing the battery/memory compartment and data access port for downloading pictures. Getting the skin on and off and back on again can be a hassle - time for the razor blade (or Exacto knife). Five minutes and a steady hand allow access to the data port, battery compartment, and tripod mounting point, thereby making a marginally flawed product perfect (in my opinion) for its intended purpose: bringing the nearly indestructible 1030SW that much closer to invulnerability.

I sincerely hope that this provides you with useful information and please remember: When in doubt, modify to suit your needs.

Why do you want a protective skin on a camera that is built like a mac truck?

The Good:
We got this to help prevent scratching, and it does a good job of that. All camera functions are available with the skin on and easy to use.

The Bad:
Unfortunately whenever you want to charge the camera, or transfer pictures or change the card you pretty much need to remove the entire skin just to do it. Unfortunately for us that is an almost daily exercise. It is cumbersome enough that we have considered not using it on more than one occasion.

If you surf with the Olympus, you MUST get this skin to protect your investment.

I surfed with the first Olympus 1030sw and kept it my my trunks pocket. The USB door came open and it flooded late in the first week of use on a surf trip to Nicaragua. Say goodbye to $350 for the camera.

I bought another Olympus 1030sw, same model to replace it, and the skin keeps the USB and battery/card doors from coming open. Best eleven bucks you can spend, saves you from buying a new camera!!!

Overall good, but needs to be removed for changing for access to memory card and battery, as well as USB port. Minor inconveniences.

Fits camera just right and everything functions properly, but it is diffcult to read labels on buttons.

Skin fits well, makes it easier to hold onto the camera, protects camera as well, very easy to put on and take off

This was a great idea....its a perfect fit. Easy to put on and take off!!

Love this item. I like to protect my things from scratches. Since my 5 year old plays with this camera more than I do-I don't feel bad if he's tossing it around.

Love it, gives my camera extra protection when Im hiking and during sporting events !!!
