Fast Enuf 4 Me,

There were issues expressed over the "slowness" of this 1 gigabyte Olympus brand XD card. I tested it, and it's NOT slow! For testing, I used an Olympus C8080 digital camera in Super-High-Quality mode, full-color, full-screen.
The write time is consistently 3 seconds. I know this is a subjective issue, but for me, it's fast enough. For an 8 megapixel camera (my C8080) in super-high-quality mode, this card will store 261 photographs. This is interesting: the 1 gigabyte CF card in my C8080 has less capacity; only 254 shots. I give this card 5 stars, because the performance matches the price.

Information but not a review,

I did some homework on the Olympus site and discovered that several models of Olympus cameras require a "firmware upgrade" in order to use either the 512mb or 1gm memory cards. That MAY be why it is slow for some users but not others.
I've been using SQ1 to get a lot of pictures on a 128mb and have decided I want better quality so am going to upgrade even tho it means shipping my camera to Olympus to upgrade the firmware. They do it at no cost if you've bought a large memory card. It might be wise to check their web site.

When I got my digital camera, I was a little dismayed that it only came with a 32 MB memory card which was good for about 18 pictures at a time. So when I went online to look for a bigger memory card I was glad to see xD Picture cards came in sizes up to 1 GB. The xD picture card needs some kind of adapter to be used with most hardware (a USB memory stick-style adapter, a Flash media adapter, etc.) or you can just use the cable that comes with most digital cameras to download your files straight to your computer from your camera. I slipped the new 1 GB card into my camera and was very gratified to see that I could take 700+ pictures (not that I would, but it's nice to have options) and since my camera has a video option I could actually use it for awhile without filling my memory card! Admittedly, getting such a big card is a bit like putting all you eggs in one basket (some people would prefer 2x 512 MB cards for flexibility), but I think of it as one less thing to worry about and I have more than enough memory capacity to take all the pictures I want. Even at $85-$90, a good deal.

Although it's great that this card allows you to store so much information, it stores photos MUCH slower than the 16MB xD card that came with my camera. The camera is also made by Olympus (Camedia C-765UZ) so presumably there's no compatibility issue. I'd estimate that it takes two or three times as long to save to the 1GB card as to the 16MB, using identical camera settings.

A Very good Card,

When I ordered my new Olympus Camera I bought this card to go with it and I am very satisfied. I found this card to be rather fast saving images and loading them. And of course it will support panoramic pictures, which I love to take. To my knowledge this card uses a different technology than the x-D Cards that are less than one gb so be sure to check a camera compatibility list to see if yours will work. Also, I print many of my pictures at home, but if you take your pictures to your local photofinishing retailer, their machines may not be compatible with this card either. This card is definitely a step up from the smaller x-D Cards, but the photography world needs to update their selves to provide you with all the features this card has to offer.

I bought this card when I got my 8MP digital camera. I'm so glad I splurged and got this card. On the best quality setting this hold a lot of pictures as well as a few digital movies. I used it a lot over the summer with the project on my fathers house, and I loaded it up with a lot of pictures.
Uploading on the computer is a lot easier if you have a printer with the memory card slot. I really love this feature-it makes it a snap to download in my camera software where I can then edit and print. The higher quality your camera is set on, the more amazing your prints will be. So the best advice I can give, if you need to buy a card for your digital camera, even if you don't think you don't need to get one with so much storage capabilities, your better off going that route-beleive me-it's worth every penny of it!!

Rarely have to change a *roll*,
This review is from: Olympus 1 GB Type M xD-Picture Card ( 200495 ) (Personal Computers)
Nice technology and the size, or lack of size, is quite amazing. I like to take a camera everywhere I go, I shoot manually, and prefer not to lug a heavy, brick-sized camera... or a lot of fiddly bits and pieces. I use a C-8080 on land or, while sea kayaking, a C-5000 in a dive-housing, both take the 1GB card. I used to walk around with spare cards, just like spare rolls of film in the old days. Now, unless I'm on an extended backcountry trip, even shooting RAW or TIFF, the 1GB card usually has enough storage to hold me over until I can download to my computer. The read/write and download time may be a little slow for some, but my *instant gratification* meter isn't as caffienated as some folks - that's why I give it 4 instead of 5 stars.

I ordered this card for my Fuji Film Digital. I was worred that it wouldn't work for my camera, but I was in a hurry to get it. It turns out that taking the risk was not a problem. The card works perfectly. Pictures load very well. It held about 10 minutes of video and about 660 pictures with room to spare.

The memory card so far did not given any problems..
But an article from Wikipedia suggests that H type xD card is better than M type one... I have not tried H type xd card but i am OK with the present M type..... for casual shooting outdoor...

I was concerned that the Type M cards wouldn't work with my FujiFilm FinePix S5100, but I was surprised to find that this Olympus 1 GB Type M worked even while filming videos in 320x240 and 640x480 resolution. I took the camera and the 1GB card on a business trip and took hundreds of photos and several minutes of video footage without any problems.
