5.0 out of 5 stars Great card
I have many Olympus XD cards and they have always been great. I have never had any prolems with any and this 2g one is amazing because of all of the pictures that it can hold... At 7.1 megapixels, it can hold over 1000 pictures.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for pics, Bad for video
One of the reasons we bought our new Olympus digital camera was to take simple video without carrying around a separate digital video camera. We bought this memory card, but never saw anywhere listed that you can only take 10 seconds of video at a time with a Type-M XD card. In fact, I had to dig deep into Olympus' site to find that information out. Now I have two XD...

We bought this memory card, but never saw anywhere listed that you can only take 10 seconds of video at a time with a Type-M XD card. In fact, I had to dig deep into Olympus' site to find that information out. Now I have two XD cards, Type-M and Type-H. Would have been helpful to know prior. For normal pictures, however, works just fine. But if you want video, pony up for the more expensive Type-H card.

3.0 out of 5 stars READ IMMEDIATELY --- OBSOLETE, May 9, 2009

This card is rather obsolete. The Type M+ is much much better. This card can only record EIGHT SECONDS of high quality VGA video at 30 FPS. On the M+, it can record up to about a half an hour, which is huge at least to me. Buy that card instead, which, incidentally, appears to be cheaper. I didn't and now I will have both the M and M+, spending almost $30 more than I need to. Don't make my mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does very well what it is intended for, April 7, 2009
By
I bought this picture card despite the misgivings I have based on prior reviews that it is slow, and only records 10 seconds of video.

I am happy to say that my gamble has paid off. In terms of speed, I've had no problems with this card. With video (which was one of the main reasons I bought this card), my camera, an Olympus FE-120, calculates the amount of recording time I have based on the remaining free space on the card, which is usually over an hour and a half. A previous review would have you believe that it only enables you to record for 10 seconds at a time. This is not the case. I was able to record continuously for about 4 minutes and I only stopped because I was done recording what I wanted to record. The camera indicated I had over an hour and a half remaining when I decided to stop.

Here is a breakdown of the various picture/video quality and the amount of pictures/time the camera can take. Please be advised that the below numbers are less than the actual amount the card can hold because I am currently using 215MB of the 1.95GB (2GB) space the card can hold.

For Pictures:
2816x2112 (SHQ) resolution = 422 pictures
2816x2112 (HQ) resolution = 1240 pictures
1600x1200 (SQ1) resolution = 3567 pictures
640X480 (SQ2) resolution = 9999+ pictures

For Videos:
320x240 (15fps) = 1 hour, 32 minutes, 13 seconds
320x240 (30fps) = 46 minutes, 6 seconds

I would recommend getting this card wholeheartedly to the casual picture taker.

I purchased this card before a vacation where I expected to take a lot of photos and videos. I had no problem with the card and it holds 744 photos at the SHQ 2288x1712 setting or 1 hour and thirty minutes of video at the HQ setting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth every penny, September 24, 2008
I purchased 3 of these because my husband and I were going on an Alaskan cruise, and wanted to make sure we didn't run out of memory space (our Olympus 770SW has a very limited internal memory). That was definitely not a problem as we didn't even completely fill 1 up! On super-high quality, one of these cards holds about 590 pictures (over 1000 pictures on the next-highest quality). At about $30 each they were spendy, but in my opinion well-worth every penny. Only these Olympus cards will perform the Panorama function on our camera, and when you are trying to take pictures of such vast and amazing landscapes panorama is a very useful tool. But even if you aren't using the special functions that only Olympus cards support, it is still worth it to pay the extra money for the genuine item instead of one of the knock-offs (my experience with the Delkin battery tought me that-I wish I had spent the money for an Olympus battery as well). I didn't notice that it took any longer for my camera to record the pictures to the memory card than it does without a memory card, but it did seem to take longer to download the pictures to the computer (I did this by plugging my camera into the USB port. I haven't tried just plugging the card directly into my computer's XD port yet-that might go faster). I honestly don't know why anybody would buy a card with less memory space-I can't wait to see how much video it will hold when I use the camera's movie function!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Olympus 2GB memory card, July 15, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought the Olympus 2GB xD card for my Olympus camera. Some features of the camera aren't available with non-Olympus cards, but if you try buying these cards in electronics or department stores you might pay about $40 or more for the same thing.
I'm very happy with it and it works great. I have already taken about 300 pictures, and have had no problems at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Olympus 2Gb Photocard, April 15, 2008
I bought this product to go with my new Olympus digital camera. I took it with me on a trip to Paris and took 2,630 photos and still had room to spare! An excellent product (as is the camera).
