With this chip, my Stylus 400 takes about 16 seconds to turn on - either to take pictures or to view the chip. Even with the so-called high speed read/write. I take a lot of pictures on the go, and prefer the shorter setup time of the smaller chips.

Okay, let me start by saying that I had some serious problems with my card. But I hate reviews that slam the product as a whole because theirs happened to be defective.
We bought this card to take on a 2 week vacation. It was perfect for that purpose. I live with the camera in my face, chasing my kids around and this card did not run out until the last couple of days. I have the Olympus Stylus 810 (8 megapixel). Forgive me for not knowing the exact amount of pictures available, but I will explain that later. I was able to take 725 pictures plus a few short videos. I did notice a slight increase in speed, but not enough that it really made any difference. The more pictures that are stored the slower it gets. A nearly empty card can be pretty fast, but when the card is nearly full it is actually pretty slow. The one thing that this card did offer, that was wonderful, was that I had about 23 minutes of non-stop video available. That is the best aspect of the H card for me. With the other cards (I have some of the old 32MB and 128MB cards) my camera will only allow a couple of minutes of video time. Okay, that being said...the 1 GB feature was what I was interested in. As I said before, we bought it so we did not have to carry equipment and download our pictures every night while on vacation. Here comes the heartbreak. After we got home we downloaded the...oops I should say we tried to download the pictures to our computer and nothing. Well, not nothing. We lost about 25% of our pictures. There was no indication while using the camera. The first indicator was when I transferred them, to the computer; the thumbnail for several just showed as a white-on-white exclamation point with the word error below. With a few we could see the image on the computer, but when we tried to access the image to print or view it tells me the image is unavailable. When I placed the card back into the camera it tells me it needs to be reformatted (which the camera can do). If I had only a day or two of pictures this would not be a problem, but if you are like me I don't download that often. I have not reformatted the card yet as I am still holding out hope that I can find a way to get to the information, so I can not speak to what will happen with the card or if it will even work again after it is reformatted. I do have to confess that I am still using the older version of Olympus' Camedia 4.3 rather than loading the new software when I got the new camera. However, I doubt this would have affected the card. All in all. I love the features this card offers to me and the 1GB gives me plenty of storage room for now. But it is only good if it is working. So I guess my review is buyer beware and use the card for a little while before using it for anything important. Update: I have an older computer. I have downloaded the images to my husbands newer (2YO) laptop and downloaded fresh drivers for the printer from HPs website and was able to reteive the photographs. I am guessing that the technology in this card might just be too much for my 3ish YO computer. But still can only see, edit, or print the photographs using HP's Image Zone software.

Works great with Olympus SP-350,

Works fine with my new Olympus SP-350. Camera starts up in about same time as with internal memory (very fast, a second or two). It's fantastic to have all this storage available. Price is cheap.

This xD card works like a champ in my Olympus camera. And the little six-pack card makes them easy to carry around in your pocket or camera bag. My only complaint is that the retail packaging it came in is a NIGHTMARE! It was a miracle I got it out without destroying it! The way to do it is, get a really heavy scissors or a bolt-cutter, and cut off the top. Then cut two flaps, so the xD card is on a little tounge of plastic. Peel the protective label and pop it out. Who-ever designed the package should go back to designing retail plastic for CDs!

Not compatible with older Olympus Cameras,

I got the 1GB xD card, but didn't realize it would not be compatible with my Olympus camera. Nothing on the packaging or in the description made me think I needed to check with my camera manufacturer (Olympus). Turned out that I opened it and it would not work. THEN, I called Olympus and found out that my camera can't take anything larger than a 512 MB card. SO, check with the camera manufacturer before ordering and OPENING this item. You can't return it after it's been opened!

no problems here,

Bought it on 10/14/06 with my Fuji F10 and it's been great. My last digital camera was about five years old and had an internal memory and it took more than five seconds to load. I'd say this takes about 2-3 seconds which is just fine for me. Great product so far.

I bought this to use with my new Olympus 510-UZ camera. It is wonderful. When looking at these cards, do yourself a favor and get the Olympus or Fuji branded card and not a copy. Also, be sure to buy the xD-H version to take advantage of the highest speeds portable memory has to offer. My seller had a great price and was fast and well packaged.

Speed is Everything,

I notice a huge difference using the high speed cards over the standard cards. I won't use anything else. Don't complain about shutter speeds if you haven't upgraded to the H series cards.

I purchased this card for use in an 8 megapixel digital camera. At full resolution my camera tells me that I can shoot 294 pictures on this card. At the next level down the quantity goes to 584 pictures. I thinks that's enough memories to capture per trip/event. As far as the "High Speed" rating goes, I can't really say I can tell any difference in performance from the "standard" speed card (64 MB).
