OM on the range,
By
This review is from: Om 100: Celebration of the 100th Release Om Records (Audio CD)
The OM home team climbs aboard the Noah's Arc of street lounge for this 100-publication celebration. Chill-house, break-hop, whatever, the manifest reads heavy-hitter. Try Mark Farina, Soulstice, Marques Wyatt, Andy Caldwell, Afro Msytik, King Kooba, Rithma, Ming & FS, on and on. Collectively, this is their statement of how far they have come, more important, it's indicative where we will be going. The styles on this disc are as individual and idiosyncratic as the artist. They do share a common bond - the ties that bind. In their vision of future music, they have declared a nation of like hearted, of similar spirit and soul, thriving in a sonic, soundscape with no borders. All are welcome. Make joyful noise indeed. Om has done their homework. No repeats, all new or unreleased material. The master thesis has arrived. This double disc reads comp-of-the-year; thankfully no DJ mix lurking in the background. Yeah baby. Bring it on.

OM Treasures,

This review is from: Om 100: Celebration of the 100th Release Om Records (Audio CD)
OM records compiled this treasure trove of Electronica/Lounge groove tracks to celebrate their 100th release and they scored a hit. The two stand out Gems on here are Natural and I Can't Wait (Perpetual Bliss Mix). Essential for any electronica collection this is also a good buy if you are new to the genres of House/Electronica/Lounge music

Good, not great,
By konceptz (Toronto, ON CANADA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Om 100: Celebration of the 100th Release Om Records (Audio CD)
There are a couple of highlights in this set, but the 2nd disc is a virtual write-off. As a "celebration", I expected more from a label that has much to celebrate. These discs should have been mixed. Idle tracks don't allow the listener to get into the flow of the tracks, and many were not created to stand alone.Highlights: Rithma's "Just Before Dawn"... BIG SMILE, and Ryan Raddon's "Get Busy" would make Prince smile, even if it is a little fouffy around the edges.
