5.0 out of 5 stars Another Exceptional Collection!
Because I own and love the first 4 Om Lounge CDs, this one was a no brainer--and yet I was still pleasantly surprised at just HOW great Vol. 5 is! This is definitely the best collection of mid-tempo, lounge-type music that has ever been. Fantastic! And the artists that it features are usually much more than the one song featured on an Om Lounge CD. 5 BIG STARS!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good background lounge.
If you like to entertain or are just hanging out, this is an excellent soundtrack for either. If you're planning on listening to something intently, I'd suggest something perhaps outside of a commercially produced series. Perhaps something by Mark Farina or (if you're so inclined) by one of the many jazzy trip-hop groups.

5.0 out of 5 stars Again, having a hard time not liking any tracks., December 5, 2002

These OM recordings just build on one another very nicely. No bad tracks here. Just more of a wonderful collection of downtempo beats that perfectly accompany that martini party you were planning or just a quiet night by the fire with a home cooked meal and a view of a downtown city skyline. Downtempo is the key word here, if you know what that is and like that music style, you'll have no problems with this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Stylish CD - Could Be the Future of Music, February 23, 2002

This is a truly remarkable CD. Somehow it sounds better after sundown. It is an extremely modern, sleek set of tracks. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite worth the wait..., July 13, 2001

Unfortunately, the much-anticipated arrival of OM Lounge 5 was quite disppointing. I now own all 5 of the OM Lounge series, which I tell everybody are absolute "must haves" for every electronica collection, particularly people just getting into the genre. Each of the OM Lounges 1-4 were fantastic (#4 being my favourite so-far)... incredibly diverse, interesting, and well-produced music... Unfortunately, I find #5 WAY too "chill" to the point of being boring... especially compared with the much more interesting mix of material contained in the previous 4 releases. It's not horrible, bit it IS easily the lamest and least satisfying of the series. Buy it if you MUST own the complete "OM Lounge" collection... don't if you're expecting it to be anywhere near as good as the previous 4. 3 stars out of 5

Very Important Advise - DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS CD AT DAYLIGHT, it was created for night and it's absolute superb. Especially good are Cadien "Ego Spiritual" with a touch of Nu Jazz, Soulstice "Wind" and Fenomenon " Pacific Memories" jazzy sound with outstanding piano. If you love Elctronic Chill, Nu Jazz elements and Night life then this CD is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once again, well done!, November 19, 2001

If you're looking for some great nighttime chillin' music, then this CD is for you. As a proud owner of the first four installments of the OM Lounge series, I find that this one fits well within what I have come to expect from the series. One thing that particularly impresses me about this CD (and the others, as well) is the subtle detail that can be heard in each track. The Andy Caldwell and Soulstice tracks are excellent, as usual, and Pacific Memories (track #2) really jams in its own low-key way. Sounds really great on the higher end systems (for all you high-end audio buffs out there).

If you told me that there was no more jazz to listen to, and I had to choose between this and Lawrence Welk music, I'd have to think about it for a long time. On reflection, if the people who think this is music had been around in the 1950s, they would be Lawrence Welk fans. One star because because it would be wrong to lump it with so-called "Country-Western Music" which gets zero stars, and zero stars must remain meaningful.
