O by Omarion,
By
This review is from: O (Audio CD)
Omarion has been with the music industry for a good 5 years now, but he popped on the scene with a group by the name of B2K, B2K had been a big hit, until they had broke up at the end of the 2003 Year, after the second hit album Pandemonium. Now there aren't very many signs that B2K is getting back together, but that didn't stop the lead singer Omarion to make his Solo Album Debut O. O is the first Solo Album from Omarion without the help of his B2K buddies. This is how I feel Omarion did on his average Solo Debut.
1. I wish- This song is fantastic, and a very great Album Opener, it has a good meaning and is just joy to listen to, it is definately one of my favorites on the album. 10/10. 2. Touch- Said to be Omarion's second single, this would make an extremely good single, and with the beat produced by the Neptunes, you know that it would be a hit..an excellent song, and very nice sexy song from Omarion right here for the ladies! 10/10 3. O- Well O is obviously the single that had me to buy the Album. I thouht the Song was great, and definately put Omarion's Vocal abilities on the map. This song was just pure singing..the beat actually did nothing for me. A really well made track here! 10/10 4. I'm Tryna- This is said to be Omarions third single, but I would question this song as a single, but since it is Omarion, it may do well, but if it was someone else it wouldn't do well. I am not really feelin' this song all that much, the beat is just to plain, and the lyrics are kind of childish so Kind of a Lame filler track to me. 5/10 5. Drop that Heater- Wow how sexy this song is! The Beat was produced by Rodney Jerkins(the same person who produced Destiny's Child's "Loose My Breath". So you know that the song is Hot! This would definatly make a great single, once again the lyrics are kind of Childish, but the production on the track makes up for it, and also Omarions Vocals. 9/10 6. Growing Pains- A very Deep song here in my opinion, very very very nice production on this track, the production is so nice and sensual, and the lyrics and Omarions voice is extremely good! And I like the Message he is talking about, and it is really catchy. Would make an Excellent Single, and one of the best on the Album. 10/10 7. Take it Off- Another track with a Club Banger beat. This song is really nasty and Sexy...I LOVE IT! This is my favorite song on the Album, and has Single potential written all over it, if it were a single it would definately be a hit..I know that for a fact! Great Job on this Omarion Great Lyrics(aside from the cussing) and great Vocals. 10/10 8. Never Gonna Let you go(She's a Keepa) Feat. Big Boi- O My gosh! I cant stand this song, I really can't it is by far the worst song on the Album in my opnion. The beat is extremely annoying, and omarions high pitched voice is really annoying. The only thing good about this song are the lyrics, the lyrics are above alot of other songs on his album, but other than that it isn't worthy. Alot of People like this song, and think it is great, it was even supposed to be his first single but they changed it to O, which I was extremely happy about. This song would have done nothing for album sales. Horrible Horrilbe song, and an Album Filler. 2/10. 9. I Know- Very nice Sexy song once again. A very nice like Japense Beat. Very mature lyrics and whatnot. A very good song from Omarion here, and very nice vocals. The only complaint I have about the song is it is kind of like Preppy. He is all like, I know that I want me, and that you need me and I am better than him. But other than that it is a very awesome song. Single Potential. 8/10 10. I'm Gon Change- This is by far one of the best songs on the Album. An extremely Mature song. Heck it is the most mature song on the Album. I Think his older brother Marques Houston helped him with this one. It really sounds like a song he would make. It is a very nice song, and just a great song to listen to. 10/10. 11. In the Dark- This is also a song where Omarions vocals just take it, the beat really doesn't do anything. Obviously the title kind of tells you that the song would be about Sex, and that is correct. It is about sex, and a very nice sex song at that, very mature lyrics once again. Very Nice sensual song. 9/10. 12. Slow Dancin'- Another Slow Song off the Album, and not a very great one, but it isn't bad. Omarion just sounds kind of wierd and just seems like he doesnt want to sing this song. And he doesn't sound like himself. I do like the lyrics, but the beat and his vocals just make the song kind of sad, but it has a pretty good chorus though, which pretty much saves the song. But once again it's not bad, but it's not good, just average. 6/10 13. Fiening You- This song kind of has a beat like I know, which is once again extremely good. The lyrics are very mature and whatnot, but Omarions Vocals once again sound really odd, but it doesnt sound bad. A good way to end the album off, not the best song on the album, but far from the least. 8/10 107/130= 82% Which is a B average. Not to Shabby for a solo album I must say. Omarion wanted to Prove that he was all grown up on this album, and wanted to prove that he is not a teenage icon anymore. He wants to show that he is a grown man, and can be just as a good singer, and have a good album like anyone else. I say it was a very good Effore from Omarion, and I am looking foward to more of his Work. Top Songs on O: I wish Touch O I'm gon' change Drop that Heater Take it off Those 6 songs were the TOP! Highlight of the Album, I would Recommend this album for anyone. Weather if you are a party goer, or just want to relax, this Album has it all, you will be suprised what Omarion can do to impress his listeners.

Is This Why B2K Broke Up?,
By Fish Cheeks (In Your Dreams) - See all my reviews
This review is from: O (Audio CD)
Firt of all, this CD shoudl've been listed as having "Explicit Lyrics." The lyrics in this CD are more explicit than those found in John Legend's "Get Lifted." This leads me to write about young bucks (late teens/early twenties) who wanna call themselves being grown or mature. Their idea of being "grown up" is to be overtly sexual and raunchy. That's the problem with young people nowadays. They have nothing to offer the world except for their cheap sexuality. All throughout this CD, most of the songs just deal with sex, sex, and sex. They're some of the most raunchiest songs I've ever heard. We're too dumb to use our imaginations, so let Omarion sing in detail what he's going to do sexually to girl. This leads to another thing. A 21 year old boy like Omarion has nothing to offer any woman except a cheap org*sm and I feel sorry for any chick who get with him. Omarion has no respect for women and that is obvious throughout the CD. Women are just seen as sexual objects to exploit and conquer. Anyway, I didn't enjoy any of these songs and they're not even worth downloading. For Omarion's first solo album, I find this very disappointing. Unless he chills, gets his mind together, and comes up with material worth listening to, he'll regret leaving B2K.

A big surprise, from low expectations,
By The Sage "Mickey" (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: O (Audio CD)
To be completely honest, I was in love with B2K (one of the few over 20) and was sad that they broke up. However, when Omarion released his album, after much anticipation, I started to think. Maybe because of the way the group broke up he would still have B2K music lingering into his solo debut. This would be a career killer if he held on to his boy band antics, and I thought that this was ultamately what he was doomed for. Boy was I in for a surprise. Despite some tracks like, "I'm Tryna" and "Take It Off," the album shines beyond his boy band past, and heads way for a promising future. To be honest (again) I can almost listen to his album from start to finish, and I can't say that about alot of artist. The highs are "Never gonna let you go" where I feel Omarion's true personality (as far as music) actually arises, "O" which I thought to be completly arrogant of him, until I realized that I misread the song (O stands for Orgasm, not Omarion), "Touch", a song that actually had to grow on me (most of the neptunes music does that to me), and songs 10-13. That particular group of songs shows maturity in him that charms me (well I am a girl). The song about the group breaking up, "Growing Pains" finally gave me an exact picture of what the group went through from his perspective (something I felt was lacking because the other boys got there point across, and I'm sure there are always two parts to a story). The lows were "I'm Tryna" a song that could have done without all the whining at the end, and "Take it off" a song that could have done without the cursing, and the weak female rapper at the end. Overall I would purchase this album, because it flew far beyond my expectations, and I'm pretty sure it will fly beyond yours.

Good singer! But Daul DVD/CD is not!,

I was very disappointed to hear the new dual DVD/CD
Side A is recored as a CD track version Other Side B is recored as the DVD version The songs are the same both side: Just side A is in 2.0 channel Just side B is in 5.1 channel I would give the album: 2/10 for Music on the DVD side. DO NOT BUY this, unless like me you are a fan. You will not benefit from anything such as better quality in music... Dual DVD/CD is just a waste of time and money, buy SACD or DVD-Audio or both. 10 times better! Sorry fans, but trust me, unless you are after this for a collection set, it is not worth the money.

Oh marion,

All the little girls were swooning over B2K. Well, in all honesty, all the little girls were swooning over Omari Grandberry of B2K (He added "ion" to Omari because ion means forever, and Omarion means Omari forever".) An avid music listener like myself could not escape a B2K song or video if they wanted to. So, naturally, I listened to them to find out if they had any singing talent. Well, my verdict is, they are alright. They definitely aren't anything to write home about. Omarion by himself is the same conclusion I drew about B2K, his voice is OK, but nothing special. He can't even sing that well. So, that's automatically points deducted from an album. Nontheless, his debut album is good. It's clear that some time was taken with vocals, lyrics and production.
"O" is the album's first single. I never really liked this song. First, the lyrics were a little too provocative for the fan base Omarion is well aware that he has; all of those baby girls. Second, the track as a whole never did anything for me. But it did receive a lot of airplay. Although I didn't care for "O" much, Omarion made up for it when he released "Touch". This is easily one of the best songs of 2005. Everything about this song screamed hit. Pharell did an amazing job with the production, I love it! The lyrics are catchy and creative, and the video (for what its worth) is really, really nice! It features some kick ass dancing by the former B2K lead singer himself. While on the subject of his old boy group, Omarion discusses what he feels about them breaking up on the song "Growing Pains". This song is an album highlight because Omarion's sincerity is felt all over the track. It's pretty deep. He tells the good and bad side of the story, something most people shy away from. I commend O for doing that. I first heard the song "Slow Dancin'" inside a store called Last Stop. After hearing the song in Last Stop, I said, "Ooh, this sounds good, I want to hear the rest of this album." That's the reason I bought the CD. This song is so sexy, but not too over the edge. Omarion's vocals are mentionable as well. Cuts that should have been replaced with better ones are "In the Dark", and "Fienin You." These songs are the best, but this young man's entire album is worth listening to. He's pretty good. And there is one thing we can't take away from him, he's very handsome, O! "Just back into it, and let it touch"- "Touch" by Omarion Mikeisha's Top 5 1. Touch 2. Slow Dancin 3. Drop that Heater 4. I'm Trynna 5. I Know

I Was Really Suprised!,
This review is from: O (Audio CD)
I was really surprised! This is a great debut album from former B2K member Omarion Grandberry. The album truly has something for everyone. Since he was formerly a member of a teen pop/r&b group I was expecting a bubblegum kind of album, but the album has quite a lot of depth and similar to other reviewers have mentioned the album has it's share of club bangers and slow jamz. Some of the better uptempo songs inlcude "Touch," "Drop That Heater," and "Never Gonna Let You Go" featuring Big Boi froum Outkast. This is a really great song and I hope it is released as a single. On the song "Growing Pains," one can assume Omarion is addressing the break-up of his former group B2K. And also as mentioned, he gets a little mature in the song "Take It Off." It's a really great album and it will be in rotation a lot more than some of the other albums I have purchased this summer. Omarion is a very young man but I think in the next few years he will be respected in the game more along the lines of the respect that Mario and Usher recieve.

Great Solo Debut,

I had this album a week before it came out, ( don't worry it wasn't boot leg I bought it through his record label) and I must say I have fallen in love. O has made an incredible debut as a solo artist. Of course I am in love with the song "O" but I also recommend " Touch," " I'mTryna," "In The Dark" and sooo much more. The dual disc was a great idea because not only do you get to enjoy his album, but you get to look into his life. Not only that, but you become the owner of one of the sexiest video's : O.
I promise you will not regret getting this album. This is a very good album, I love it!!!!

I'm quite a fan of Omarion. B2K i think was one of the few boy bands in our era that are ACTUALLY very good. So when I heard Omarion was going to have a solo album I was one of da first to cop his album. He's been in the music industry for some years so he kinda knows what to write about. His album was lil' bit above average but being lil' bit TOO mature bout it.
I Wish- This song produced by Corna Boys is an upbeat catchy song. Very catchy chorus "I I wish I didn't love you" This could have been very good single material. The lyrics are also very conservative. 9/10 Touch- At first this song I thought was very like a dance song. It's very great at first but after a while it gets quite boring. The music video concept ok i guess. But, the talkin after the chorus is REALLLY stupid though. 7.5/10 O- This song is what ALL the teenage gurlz in the world will love. This slow jam is a nice slow tempo. Hell this is the reason WHY i bought it :) The lyrics are sexual but not that sexual at the same time. Probably the best song in the whole album. 11/10 I'm Tryin'- This song is pretty good because when it first came out I absoutly HATED it. The lyrics are deeply moving but simple at the same time. The part hate though is the I'm trynna act like I can do without feeling on your booty Find another ghetto cutie To do me like you do me yeah yeah part it kinda sucks. 8/10 Drop That Heater- I think this song is something that B2K would sing. It's not that great but's it's not a filler. The beat reminds me like Teairra Mari's No Daddy. The lyrics are not the beat but itz average. 7.5/10 Growing Pains- I thought his vocal's were over da top on this song. It's very autobiographical (well cause it was produced by Marques Houston) Great CD track not for the media since it's personal. 9/10 Take It Off- Omarion tries to act gangsta and tries to get some hood in him but it sounds really desparate club banguh. The only thing good thing is Mila J's rap and even THAT isn't good. 5/10 Never Gonna Let You Go(She's A Keepa)- Big Boi produced this song so it's pretty good .Omarion is average on this while Big Boi's rap is great as well. The beat is kinda jazzy mixed wyth R&B. 8/10 I Know- This stinks. I heard the first 20 seconds of it and I just skipped it, This is even worse that Take It Off. 4/10 I'm Goin Change- NOW this is what I'm talking bout. This what he's should be singin instead of those fake gangsta songs. His vocals are exceptional on this. The beat is slow-paced and great.8/10 In The Dark- A slow jam that matches him. Very average his vocals are great But I absoutly LOVE the chorus cuz he sounds really lovin and all that. 8.5/10 Slow Dancin'- Apart O this is one of da BEST songs in the whole album. It's very romantic and a great slow song for the couple out there. It's very laidback and quite listenable. 10/10 Fiening You- This sounds like a filler to me. I don't even get what fiening means HAHA But, his lyrics slow yet romantic at the same time. 8.5/10

This review is from: O (Audio CD)
I'm not really surprised that Omarion came out with a solo album, because he was the only person in B2K that did anything anyway (unless you count Lil' Fizz; *cough* wack rapper *cough*). Anyway, a lot of young fans were devastated when B2K broke up. But in retrospect, I'm not really surprised that happened either, considering how fast everything was going: they released three albums in one year, followed by doing the generic movie You Got Served (or as I like to call it, the male Bring It On). Thus, they probably got sick of each other. Whatever the case, Omarion persevered with his debut solo album, O.
I remember that as soon as the title track hit radio, Omarion explained that its sexuality is due to the fact that he's growing up (which is true; I mean, he's about to turn 21). And as far as sex-driven songs go, most of them are highlights, like the title track, "Slow Dancin'", and the necessary Neptunes track, "Touch". The only one that could possibly stand a rewrite is "In the Dark". Actually, scratch that: what REALLY could have been left behind was "Take It Off". Here, rather than Omarion sounding grown-up, he comes across more like a kid TRYING to grow up. Complete with profanity-just-for-the-sake-of-profanity (Eamon, anyone?), an irritating beat, and a wack rap by some femcee named Mila J., you'll want to take it off rotation. I'm not exactly sure why Big Boi feels he has to guest star with all the young R&B singers of the moment (see also Brooke Valentine), but he DOES do a good job with "Never Gonna Let You Go". And "Growing Pains" is a very interesting tale about the B2K breakup. But I think "Drop That Heater" is overrated. Sure, it'll bump in the club, but I don't think it'll bump anywhere else. Omarion's debut album is quite impressive, and it does show that he's growing up. At the same time, though, I don't know if that's 100% valid considering that the album cover boasts a contest to win a free phone call from him. Oh well, this is still some nice R&B, so give it a spin. Anthony Rupert P.S. In response to the reviewer that didn't call this a solo album because there are singers in the background, um...that's why they're called BACKGROUND SINGERS. |
