5.0 out of 5 stars A MASTERFUL AND COMMUNICATIVE WORK!
Marseille is a gold mine! IAM's rhymes are super-intelligent, thought provoking, and addictive. The flow is unrivaled, with more of a rough edge than Solaar. The beats are infused with dopeness, and lyrical pauses will make you hold your breath. No hip hop fan could possibly regret purchasing this album. It satisfies many hungers!

3.0 out of 5 stars ca va plus ou moins..
This is a decent example of French rap, but certainly not the best. It lies somewhere in between Solaar for his pure, fun pop lyrics and NTM's hard core scene. It lacks a bit of character. Je suis plutot Parisien que Marseillais, donc c'est peut-etre ca (NTM over IAM)? There are a couple of decent songs- Une Femme Seule has good lyrics and comes straight from the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Genial!, November 11, 1999
By A Customer
I've received this Cd from a cousin in Switzerland and I couldn't help but voice my opinion on this album. This is one of the greatest rap album I've ever listened to. IAM, MC Solaar and NTM are the best representatives of French Rap an this album of IAM will convince you why! They are far in front of the american rappers whose lyrics are rather poor and draw a picture of "life sucks" attitude; Opposingly, IAM entertain you with texts such as "Je danse le mia" and "L'attentat2" and they also rap on meaningful subjects like in "J'aurais pu croire", "Le sachet blanc", "L'ombre est lumiere" betweeen others. I highly recommend this album to everyone who wnats to listen to French Rap.

4.0 out of 5 stars IAM is wonderful!, October 30, 1998

Despite some Americans' somewhat condescending views towards French rap, I implore you to please give it a chance, especially if you have any interest in the French langugage. I find French Rap to be thousands of times more beautiful then American rap. The Rap flows and the ryhmes are smooth. Even if you don't like Rap in general, try French Rap, its far better. Another thing I really enjoy about French Rap is that many of the songs, if you understand the French (which you will if you listen to them enough), are actually coherent and meaningful narratives...I LOVE IT. Write me for any questions about IAM or French Rap...Some of my other favorite artists include... MC SOLAAR, NTM, Massilia Sound System, MANAU, Doc Gyneco also many compilation albums....please check them out! This album by IAM is good but by far their best work is L'ECOLE DE MICRO D'ARGENT...try and find this album no matter what it is incredible...the lyrics are beautiful, social commentary, amusing, inspiring, and very clever...

There are a couple of decent songs- Une Femme Seule has good lyrics and comes straight from the haert. Je Danse Le Mia is a terribly tacky song that is popular among the FunRadio and Skyrock crowd. I saw a funny incident on french tv- IAM performed at an award show and after finishing said" Attention- L'OM va mettre le feu ce soir". The crowd got pumped up and cheered wildly. Pascal Obispo performed shortly after and said "Moi, je suis bordelais et donc allez les girondins". His soft quiet voice did not quite have the same effect and people clapped politely.By the way, OM est dans la merde cette saison...

I bought it in France two years ago and have not stopped listening to it since. I only wish that there was more to listen to. The CD is packed with great beats and killer rhythms. I give it my highest recomendations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ombre est Lumière et IAM ze King, February 9, 1999
By A Customer

4.0 out of 5 stars IAM are simply wonderfull, January 6, 1999
By A Customer
Hello everybody , i just wanna tell u how much the 6 members of the "ecole du micro d'argent" are wonderfull.I'm not really mad about rap , but i'm crazy about iam.Their music is really melodious and the lyrics are wonderfull..They speak of today's life with such a poetry...That's why , although most of their songs are sad , it's always a pleasure to listen to them..Moreover i come from the same town than us and i saw them in concert many times : they are really great... So if i can give u an advice : buy the ecole du micro d'argent , one of the best rap-CD which has ever been made.
