James Bond is Back in Casino Royale,
By This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00. The new 2006 model 2220.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time. More importantly, it doesn't require servicing for 10 years versus 2-3 years in the previous model. Servicing a luxury watch like Omega can be expensive. Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in a quartz version as model 2221.80.00. The other big change is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red. More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more. If you desire a James Bond series watch with a true Swiss movement, this is the one.

Watchmakers Advice,
By This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation. All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase. Definitely recommended!

serial number was scratched off,

This review is from: Omega Men's 2222.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver Watch (Watch)
I have been researching Omega Seamaster watches for couple of months, and went to several authorized dealers in my local area. They usually offer <15% discount + tax. So it would be around $2900 if I buy from them. I was impressed by the price Amazon offered (~$800 saving), although I know that Amazon is not an authorized dealer (therefore, the Omega warranty is void). I recieved the watch 2 days after placing the order. It is beautiful and same as what I saw from the local dealers. It came with authentic box and 3 cards (surprising! since I thought the warranty card would be missing. Of course, the card is not filled with proper dealer names etc. so it is void technically). Unfortunately, when I carefully examed the back of the watch, I found that the serial number on the watch was scatched off (or more precisely speaking: destroyed). I can see something, but it is fussy, and even with good magnification, you cannot read the numbers. So I cannot match the serial number on the watch to the number on the card. It is really disappointing. I trust Amazon and I think it is authentic. But without a serial number on the watch, it is difficult to justfy spending >$2000 on this watch. It would be really difficult for resale and even to get it serviced by Omega later if the watch needs an overhaul. So I had to return it. Another thing is when you return, you will have to use USPS insured mail and it is kind of inconvenient (I used to just drop off at UPS stores for other returns). Amazon does well for my return and they refund pretty fast after received the package (within one day), so I was pretty happy about that.
Overall, it is a nice watch and I really liked it (5 star for the watch) and Amason service is good and return/refund is fast. However, be aware that when you buy from internet (even with trustful site like Amazon), there is still risks that the watch somehow is not the same (i.e. serial number not intact). Of course, it is a $800 saving. For someone who doesn't care about the serial number, it is still the best deal. So be aware of the risk and make your own decision wisely. That is why I am giving it a 3-star rating. Hope this is helpful.

Omega Seamaster Mens 2220.80,
By First, I tried it on in several stores, along with other models to help me decide.... so I am very familar with the watch. I also own another Omega, the Moonwatch (the reduced version). Among the Seamaster types, I liked this one best as it is lighter than the next model up... and the automatic is way cooler as the second hand sweeps across the face rather than clunks along like the cheaper quartz. Amazon had one of the best prices at the time... plus it is safer than ordering directly from some small retailer. Got it within 48hrs on expedite shipping, despite going through customs. Retailer in Brooklyn, and I am in Vancouver BC.... pretty good door to door service. With duty tax and currency exchange costs, saved 35% from buying here at a retail store in Canada. Worth my while for sure. A gem at a great price.

James Bond style in a True Automatic Watch,
By This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00 and mid-size model 2551.80.00. The new 2006 models 2220.80.00 and 2222.80.00 mid-size have several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) models. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement movement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time. It's a great watch with minor shortcomings.,
By Shortcomings include having pins with bushings to connect its bracelet links, which are complicated to remove an replace properly. Seawater can rust these pins and when that happens, well, you gotta live with it until you decide to send it in to Switzerland for an overhaul (which others have informed me will make it look like new again upon return). I find the bezel hard to turn, yet my wife does not. It seems popular from the James Bond movies, which I've never seen. People recognize and compliment the watch, which is always nice to hear. The caseback on the Seamaster is ridged and quite comfortable. I've had display back watches and disliked the glass sticking to my wrist. However, when you buy this watch, you become enslaved to Swatch for parts, and even authorized dealers won't sell any you may need. Swatch has become very heavy-handed in their after-care. This review would likely be more enthusiastic had I not recently sent mine back to Bienne for an overhaul, which cost $295 Swiss Francs (it's eight years old and automatics need more care than a simple battery operated watch). The other side of that coin is Rolex would double that charge for an overhaul, and do a lesser job. It's a good watch overall. Even though it's a sports watch, many think it's a dress watch for some reason. I recommend getting the automatic Bond model in full size, with a blue dial and circular markers which present a more nautical look than other Seamsters, but that's my preference. If you want to get away from the Casio/Timex/Swiss Army brands, and want to have a "prestige" watch that offers a big bang for your buck, I'd recommend this over any other watch I know - and not too appear pretentious, I know watches quite well. Caveat: Beware of counterfeits. There are non-corporate Omega sites that will help you detect a counterfeit, if you Google such information. I hope I have been helpful. Kind Regards, Norm Mowry

Great watch. Incredible Value.,

First let me say I like watches. However, I do not like to pay a lot for watches. Those $5K+ watches interest me but I would never pull out my wallet to indulge my thirst. For me, value and performance must be part of a singular package and this a rare watch that satisfies my tough but economical demands.
Pros: ----- * Bullet proof. Had mine for over a year and this watch has surpassed all my expectations. * The sound of the internal mechanism is almost musical. Put your ear to it and listen to the crystal like chimes. * Zero scratches on the sapphire crystal or the top watch region and I am very abusive to my watches. * Looks great in all attire without the over-the-top style. It is a bold watch but with a reserved humility. * Bought it for $2100 back in 2008 and it is worth every penny. Cons: ----- * This is the mid-size model which is 36m. However, due to the design, it actually looks like 35m on the wrist due to a smaller sapphire crystal opening. It's an optical illusion but as result, is only suitable for those with very small wrists. * Wristband and especially the clasp plate area is very prone to scratch marks. * Rotating bezel is prone to fine sand causing stuck or rigid rotation. This is not a design issue but something to think about when you get on the beach. If you do get sand or other fine debris in there, you can pop up the rotating bezel with a small swisswarmy knife blade and just brush it clean with a toothbrush.

Beautiful, Accurate and Rugged Watch,
By James Reese "Chevalier James" (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Omega Men's 2222.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver Watch (Watch)
I am absolutely delighted with my Omega Seamaster chronometer. It is well within COSC standards, gaining around 2 seconds a day. I love the attention to detail, such as the "wave pattern" on the face and the "Seamaster" logo on the back. It's a very comfortable watch, and not too large for a small wrist. I love the screw-down crown which really helps it to achieve 300-meter water resistance. This watch is simply beautiful, and it's a watch that can be passed down the generations, unlike a quartz watch whose electronics will be gone before too long. I purchased my Omega through an authorized dealer; I think purchasing a "gray market" Omega is simply nuts. I know that Omega will honor my warranty, because I have the warranty cards! Finally glad that I indulged myself with an Omega. This is one purchase that is definitely worth it!
