Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The men's Seamaster Professional from Omega offers great style and superior performance for all your adventures, above water and below. The mid-sized brushed steel case highlights a blue wave-patterned dial with luminous hands and markers for excellent visibility, even in low light conditions, a red-tipped luminous seconds hand and seconds indexes, and a date display. The dial is capped with a domed, anti-reflective scratch-proof sapphire crystal and framed by a unidirectional rotating polished steel bezel with minute markings and fluted edges for grip. This Omega watch is outfitted on a handsome and durable brushed steel bracelet with polished accents. It boasts Swiss quartz precision and is rated water resistant to a full 300 meters (or 984 feet).

The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn't appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars--the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond--with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.

But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

The greatest moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Omega watches rocketed off to space on many subsequent missions, including visits to Skylab and the historic Apollo-Soyuz link-up of Soviet and American astronauts in 1975.

In more recent years, Omega created the world's first self-winding wristwatch with central tourbillon in 1994 and made history in 1999 with the first mass-produced watch incorporating the co-axial escapement, developed in conjunction with renowned English master watchmaker George Daniels. In simple terms, the escapement is the heart of a mechanical watch, generating the impulses that make the mechanism move. Omega's Co-Axial Escapement drastically reduces the friction among the parts that transmit energy to the other components, producing greater stability and precision and reducing service requirements.

Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's an OMEGA, July 9, 2009

This review is from: Omega Men's 2263.80.00 Seamaster 300M Quartz Watch (Watch)
I've had my Omega for a few weeks now, and am thoroughly pleased. It seems to keep near perfect time.
Unlike the previous review, I received the watch in it's red leather case along with complete Omega instructions (written in umpteen languages). Bear in mind that the warranty is through Amazon, NOT Omega, but this is clearly stated.
Watches have become so much more than time pieces...they are fashion. If you like blue dial faces, you couldn't find a better choice. It is spectacular. I personally chose the mid (36mm) version, because this is the style I prefer. However, this particular Seamaster could easily be worn in larger (41mm) size by almost everyone (my wrist is 6 3/4). The stainless bezel surrounding the blue dial does make the watch "appear smaller", so if you are into the current trend of larger watches, by all means consider the full size version. Keep in mind that the bracelet is slightly wider also on the full size. The best idea is to go to an Omega dealer and try it on your wrist. Bottom line is...it's an Omega!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome watch!!!!!!!!!!!, December 8, 2009

This review is from: Omega Men's 2263.80.00 Seamaster 300M Quartz Watch (Watch)
I have a 6.5 inch wrist and this mid-size (36.25mm) watch is perfect for me... I agree with the previous reviews which mention that the watch face looks small due to the big bezel. If you have a wrist like mine it is strongly recommended that you go to a dealer and try the larger size. With this particular seamaster, I think that a person with 6.5 inch wrist can also wear the larger size (41mm) without the watch looking too big on the wrist. I hade the watch sized at a Authorized Dealer and they did it for free after inspecting the watch thoroughly to make sure that it was not a fake. It is also recommended that the band should be sized by a professional as it took a few blows with a hammer from the jeweler to remove the links (They knew what they were doing!!!!). The watch has a comfortable weight and sits very nicely on the wrist. The watch case and the strap have a very nice shine and seem to have been built to last for a long time (Only time will tell!!!)...
The luminous hands and markers make the watch look really cool in low light or dark conditions. However, they don't stay luminous for a long time (Half an hour to an Hour depending upon the light conditions).
I have a desk job and I noticed a few scratches on the clasp and on the outer side of the strap which make contact with the desk. However the scratches were very minute and I think that they could easily be polished off.
I received the watch in an immaculate condition with the omega warranty cards, and a thick manual in a spotless red leather box. The warranty card which looks like a credit has the serial no. of the watch did not have the Dealers name on it. However this was expected as I knew that Amazon was not the authorized dealer.
Overall it's a great watch. I have had this watch for a month and I wear it everyday. No buyer remorse whatsoever.

This review is from: Omega Men's 2263.80.00 Seamaster 300M Quartz Watch (Watch)
Just received it today and I must admit that it is even more stunning than the picture leads on. Came with all the appropriate packaging, boxes, and matching serial numbers. Don't pay retail.
