5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Watch, but Buyer Be Ware, July 15, 2006

This review is from: Omega Men's 2531.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver "James Bond" Watch (Watch)
I've owned the Omega 2531.80 for two years now and love it. My first week owning it, I accidentally scraped the face against a cinder block wall and not even a tick. I was amazed!! Just be careful where you buy. If you read the fine print here, you do get a great price, but the warranty is from the seller, not Omega. Omega will only warranty watches they know the source of through authorized dealers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chronometer for sure., June 4, 2005
Not only is this a beautifully finished watch, its accuracy is outstanding, mine averaging about -.5 seconds per day or less. The bracelet has a wonderful fine jewelery quality finish and a very solid click when it locks closed. The diver's extension is well executed. The case finish is also outstanding with a nice blend of brushed and high polish. The subtle Geneva wave dial adds interest without busy-ness and the red tip on the second hand is just the right accent. Luminosity is quite good, although not up to the Seiko almost-need-sunglasses brightness. If you want a quibble, the bezel rotation is a little tough due to the rounded edges on the outside offering no good gripping surface. Overall, for finish, style and timekeeping the Seamaster Pro with the 1120 movement would be a strong competitor for the Rolex Submariner even if their prices were reversed

This is an excellent watch. If you have the money and you need a heavy duty watch for diving, this is the one. It also happens to be the one James Bond uses in the last 4 movies. An added plus if you are a James Bond Fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine crafted time piece, June 12, 2006
This review is from: Omega Men's 2531.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver "James Bond" Watch (Watch)
I've always wanted a fine watch, not just something that kept good time but a piece a craftsman had put his skill into and would be proud of. A friend who works with watches recommended an Omega and in particular an Omega with an automatic movement. The Seamaster fills all those recommendations. A beautifully crafted time piece rugged enough to work with me everyday and cool enough to hang at the club while dealing chemin de fer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing watch, January 2, 2008
The Bond Seamaster. What a classic piece! It does not have the Co-Axial escapement caliber 2500 (a somewhat new engine). Instead, it has Omega's workhorse 1120 caliber movement which is as durable, reliable, and accurate as the vaunted Rolex 3135 (if not more so, the 1120's ball bearings vs the 3135's somewhat outdated oscillating axle). A wise man once told me: "All fine mechanical watches are, to some extent, pieces of jewelry. If you're looking for accuracy, durability, quality and understatement, Omega is for you. If you're looking for accuracy, durability, quality, and don't mind paying 2x as much to make a statement of that, Rolex is probably for you."

This watch is a magnificent piece and I cannot rave enough about its beauty, class, performance and resale value. Please try it on at an authorized dealership and experience the best of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool, awesome, excellent quality, well worth the money, August 30, 2007
This review is from: Omega Men's 2531.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver "James Bond" Watch (Watch)
I have now had this watch for 10 years exactly. For the first eight years I hardly ever took it off. I wore it going sailing, swimming, working around the house, in the gym, just about everywhere. I have a couple of other ones, less expensive ones, and I am amazed how much this watch can take as far as abuse compared to the less expensive ones. Since I took it everywhere, it's been dropped, scratched, abused etc. This watch, as all Omegas, will go where ever you go and always tick. It won't let you down. After all these years, it runs 1 minute slow per week. I need to bring it to a qualified shop to lube the "joints".
You already know that a real Omega will look great on you. It's expensive, yes, but it's so worth it. Treat yourself, you deserve it. It will last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch, March 3, 2009
I had been shopping for an Omega Seamaster watch for quite some time and was excited when I bought this one from Amazon. Amazon billed my American Express card immediately for the full amount and I waited eagerly to receive the watch. After about a week of waiting, I sent several emails asking about delivery status or tracking information. (You know you can't just call Amazon and talk to someone, you have to communicate via email) A week later, Amazon emailed me and said my order had been cancelled and they promptly refunded the full amount to my American Express card. At the time I wasn't very happy, but I'm thrilled now since I purchased the same watch through a more courteous company. It's truly a great watch. It's stylish and it keeps perfect time. This watch is top quality...too bad I can't say the same for Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where beauty and quality meet, February 24, 2006

This review is from: Omega Men's 2531.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver "James Bond" Watch (Watch)
The Omega Seamaster Chronometer is an extremely handsome watch. I love the classic design as well as the compliments I receive while wearing it. For those debating on this watch and quartz version, I recommend the automatic over the quartz for the simple fact that you don't need to send the watch to Omega to replace the battery and I like the "sweeping movement" of the second hand compared to the "ticking" movement of the quartz. While the watch is a lot of money, it is truly an heirloom I can proudly pass to my son someday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas present viewing guide, January 7, 2007
This review is from: Omega Men's 2531.80.00 Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver "James Bond" Watch (Watch)
Rinse in soapy water (use a toothbrush on the band). It loses less than a second a day, so unscrew the crown and pull it to position 3 to set it ahead 5 minutes. It is more accurate than my battery fueled watch which requires a new 5 year battery every 2 years. Position 2 is used for setting the date (should be done between 2am-8pm). Position 1 is used for winding and from here press the crown then screw in for watertightness. The helium escape valve is only used during decompression to prevent the diffused helium of the diving bell from pushing out the sapphire crystal. A spring and 2 gaskets allow the gas to escape as the interior pressure becomes greater than the exterior pressure during decompression. You can hold it next to your ear and shake your head to hear and feel the selfwinding mechanism. If you happen to be James Bond this valve, the rotating bezel and crown have additional functions. For the best closeups here is a viewing guide: 1) Goldeneye DVD 1:51:07 006 and 007 compare Seamasters. 2) Tomorrow Never Dies 1:41:24 bomb/detonator, title sequence shows inner mechanism. 3) World Is Not Enough 1:04:29 shoots hook and wire 4) Die Another Day 3:20 and 8:36 bomb/detonator 5) Casino Royale.

An absolute amazing watch, hands down one of the best bangs for your buck. An amzing piece of machinery at a great price. Not to mention, its James Bond's first choice.
