Product Description

The Omega-3-6-7-9 GoldTM Advantage

Omega-3, Omega-6, Omega-7, and Omega-9 are all essential fatty acids that deliver a broad spectrum of benefits. Some of the benefits of these essential fatty acids include promoting healthy skin and hair, supporting circulatory, reproductive and respiratory functions, and helping maintain optimal brain and heart health. Omega-3 and Omega-6 are polyunsaturated fats that can only be gotten from the diet or through supplementation. Omega-9 is a non-essential, monounsaturated fat that can be manufactured by the body from Omega-3 and Omega-6 and Omega-7, although available in small amounts in dairy foods and macademia nuts, requires supplementation to meet recommended amounts. While each of the four Omega fatty acids performs important functions in the body, obtaining the proper balance and amount of each is critical for optimal wellness.

Each serving of 3 softgels provides 1,200 mg of Omega-3s, 300 mg of Omega-6s, 190 mg of Omega-7s, and 750 mg of Omega-9s

I have been taking Omega-3 for quite some time. I try to take high quality products, and generally find “fish burps” to be minimal. However, every once in a while they can sneak up on you.

Well, no more! This product provides Omega-3, as well as 6,7, and 9 without using fish as the source! The ingredients are as follows: a complex of Omega fatty acids derived from perilla seeds, cranberry seeds, olives and seabuckthorn berries. Each capsule provides 400 mg of Omega-3, 100 mg of Omega-6, a little over 63.3 mg of Omega-7, and 250 mg of Omega-9. A serving size is 3 capsules. The bottle contains 180, so this is a 60 day supply.

The product is free of egg, milk peanut, shellfish, and wheat. The full ingreidient list is: Perilla (Perilla frutescens) seed extract, Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton) seed extract, Olive Oil, Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnosides) Berry Oil, Natural Astaxanthin, Natural non-GMO Tocopherols, Spice Extract and Ascorbyl Palmitate. The capsule is made from bovine gelatin, vegetable glycerin, and purified water.

Two important notes:
1. NutriGold advertises this as vegetarian. However, since the capsule is made from bovine gelatin, so while I am not a vegetarian, I would imagine some would not consider this to be vegetarian.
2. Also, it does contain a soy derivative (the tocopherols), so anyone with sensitivity to soy, please take note!

In general, I really like the product. I feel it provides the necessary Omega complex, and it probably overkill, but if you are interested in an O3 and more, this is a good product. It is NOT inexpensive, but it is worth it, especially if you cannot tolerate fish.

I was taking Omega 3-6-9 from Nordic Naturals for 2 years. Liked it, but the price was on a high end. When I discovered the same quality product for the lower price and made in USA, I was more than happy. It's usually hard to find a supplement with all 3 Essential Fatty Acids for the good price. These softgels are very easy to swallow, no after-taste. Great job Nutrigold!

There's a lot to like about many of the Nutrigold supplements I've been trying out and the Omega 3-6-7-9 isn't an exception. For one thing it "Does not contain GMOs, solvents, preservatives, artificial ingredients, Stearates, Silicon Dioxide, or Titanium Dioxide." This is a big thing in my book. It's getting harder and harder to find decent supplements that really are natural and work well. Working well is an assumption because, of course, you won't know that until you get the old blood work back.

Supplements are a matter of choice, but at times I'd rather pay a bit more to get what I want. Some people do like the vegetarian formula, but admittedly I try a variety of omega supplements that contain either Krill Oil or fish. It is however difficult to find a vegetarian omega supplement that has been manufactured with care. There are no cautionary ditties on the label and in fact, most are the type many like to see. It's also "free of egg, milk, peanut, shellfish soy and wheat," something that many people will love. Looks good so far and hopefully the Nutrigold Supercritical will work well.

The first thing you'll want to know if you have any trouble swallowing pills is that these gel caps are huge. They are one inch long and over 1/4 inch wide. And they don't have a lot of give, so they tend to stick going down. I'm pretty good about getting pills down, but with these I can feel them in my gullet as they work their way down. I usually try to eat some food right after taking them to help move them along.

I wanted to try these as a possible substitute for or addition to my fish oil supplements. Contrary to some reviews I've seen for this product, there is no fish oil whatsoever in these caps. In fact, you have to take three of these caps to get the same amount of omega-3s I can get from one of my Trader Joe's fish oil caps. I'm not an expert on the various omega fats, 3, 6, 7, and 9, but I do wonder why they even include the omega-6 oils in the mix. We get way too many of those in the standard American diet.

If you're looking for a substitute for fish oil, especially to avoid the burpies, this product might be worth a try. All the oils come from plant sources. Keep in mind, though, that the gel caps do have gelatin in them, so this is not a vegetarian option.

Omega 3-6-9?

Many sources say that all you really need are Omega 3's since the body does not make them, and
most people do not consume enough deep cold water seafood.

Omega 6 supplements are not necessary, because they appear in many common foods such
as nuts, seeds and vegetables. The body also does not make Omega 6, but a normal diet
should provide enough.

Omega 9 oils are already produced in a normal body, so supplements are not needed.

And a very important factor to add is that the body contains only so much enzymes to
break down these oils, so if you have an over abundance of 6's and 9's, then the all important
3's may not be properly absorbed.

So the conclusion, if you are relatively normal, is that you are paying extra for the 6's and 9's.
