Omega 46001 Shaving Cream in Bowl

This soap works great with my Merkur safety razor. It whips quickly to a thick, moist lather that stays on my face until the shave is finished. And, although I usually don't like scents, Omega has a subtle, pleasing smell that I actually enjoy. I can't imagine a better shaving soap.

I read so many glowing reviews for this product that I was sure my husband would love it. Unfortunately, as soon as he applied this cream to his skin and started shaving, he told that it caused an unpleasant tingling sensation, which soon turned into a mild burning.

I decided to use this "crema da barba", made in Italy to shave my leg. The cream is very smooth and lathers well, but I didn't like the smell at all: it was too strong & too cheap. Obviously, scent is a very personal thing, so please don't concentrate on this part of the review too much.

I didn't feel any tingling - just a little bit of a cooling effect on my legs. While shaving legs, I accidentally touched my face with my hand, and right away I felt what my husband was describing before. I washed the cream away within seconds. I also looked at the ingredients used in it, and I believe that menthol can cause this irritation. Unfortunately, the label doesn't indicate the percentage used, so it is difficult to say for sure which component may have caused this unpleasant tingling. Also, because menthol has an ability to quickly penetrate the skin layers, it can carry other chemical compounds with it. One of the components in this shaving cream is sodium borate, which is safe for use in cosmetics up to a specified concentration limit (in concentrations less than or equal to 5%), but as I mentioned earlier, the % used is not specified on the label, so at this point we can only guess. At 5% and higher boric acid should not be used on infant or injured skin as it causes irritation.

If you don't have a sensitive skin, give it a try, but my husband will have to go back to "Cremo Cream" & "Art of Shaving" creams.

I love this stuff. I rarely use any other shave soap for shaving (with my straight razor). The menthol in it makes the shave feel very pleasant.

I must say that I am quite pleased with this soap. It lathers very easily, and holds moisture very well, making for the perfect shave. The smell is also quite pleasing. I was hesitant to try this soap, since normally things that are eucalyptus scented are very strong. This soaps scent is tame. The menthol is nice since it gives a cooling sensation that is invigorating. I highly recommend this shaving soap!

I purchased this soap as well as several other brands for my boyfriend for Christmas 2008. After sniffing and poking all of the soaps he chose to try this one first. He travels alot so he put it in a more travel friendly container. He's been using it almost daily for 9 months and he loves it. I have also used it occasionally for shaving my legs,it leaves my skin soft and smelling nice (like him). He has already told me that he has no desire to try the other soaps. I am posting this review with 5 stars for him.

I had also purchased 2 Crema di Sapone Almond shaving soaps, I have been using it to shave my legs and I like it just as much as the Omega, I am hoping I can talk my boyfriend into at least trying his bar of Crema di Sapone once he has used his Omega.

Personally - I give 5 stars to both Omega and Crema di Sapone Almond.

This is Proraso in a black bowl. It is the exact same stuff- ingredients and all and also from Italy. So yes it is very very good shaving soap-and it is just a bit less costly than the Proraso. Well- now I have two tubs of the Proraso, but I am not complaining as there is no better product on the market. Just use a touch more water as it is a bit dry without lots of water.

This stuff is great; I actually find it slicker & more moisturizing than Proraso though they are very similar. I'm in love with the smell & I get a really thick and slick lather that gives me a great tingling sensation on my face. I get great shaves with it and like I said, the small is just...awesome.

I am relatively new to wet shaving and purchased this shave cream approximately one month ago, along with several other brands from various companies.

This is by far my favorite, it smells fresh, lathers well, doesn't dry the skin and the included shaving cream bowl/container is a great bonus.

There is nothing more I could expect from a shaving cream so they have likely earned a life long customer.

The retailer's service and price were also very good, arrived in a timely fashion without issue.

I was persuaded by reading some online reviews to try another shaving soap. It fell well short of my expectations and didn't provide nearly the level

of comfort and closeness as does this Omega cream. So I am back to reiterating my original review, as well I have tried a handful of other shaving creams

purchased from obscenely priced shaving stores in a local mall. This is by far the best value and this particular retailer has always provided excellent

and timely shipping. (as you noticed this soap does last a good while too, at least six months worth of daily shaving)

Hubby wasn't happy with the shaving gels/creams he had been using so I bought him this one (based on the reviews I read here). He says this soap is very hydrating and his skin feels great after he shaves.

This soap is also very long lasting; he started using it in early February and five months later he still has a few more weeks to go.

And the scent is lovely, too. :)

I think this is the same or similar soap as Poraso. Soap lathers quickly with a moisturizing light methol effect.
