The Omega 9000 juicer is a good juicer.

I've had an Acme 6001 for years and it has served me well. When it was time for a new juicer, I bought the Breville since it was such a "hot item".

The Omega 9000 juicer is a good juicer.

I've had an Acme 6001 for years and it has served me well. When it was time for a new juicer, I bought the Breville since it was such a "hot item".

Big mistake! Unless you want it to "keep up with the Joneses" and think having a big shiny juicer in your kitchen is more about prestige and less about health, then the Breville is for you.

Back to the Omega. The Omega 9000 makes pulp feel like a shirt. It's pretty dry.

Big up to Amazon & HealthNut for it's speedy pick up of the Breville and quick delivery of the Omega (2 days), which is actually well-designed and has good yield.

Now for the cons: carrot residue sticks to the bottom and along the periphery of the basket which goes inside the bowl. It took me a long time to scrub off. Maybe a filter will help, but I never had that problem with the Acme and it was built many moons ago in the 90's. If it wasn't for that design flaw, I'd give it another star.

One last thing. Make sure you process the fruit & vegetables in the right order. For some reason, if you put, say, cucumber and parsley first, before the carrot, the juicer will flip out and do a dance on the counter. I experienced this w/ the Acme as well. So go slow at first & read the tips about what to process first & how.

Cheers.

I'm amazed that there aren't hundreds of five-star reviews for this item. I shopped for a juicer for MONTHS, literally. After painstaking research - including reading dozens of reviews like this one, and looking at Consumer Reports - I finally decided on the Omega 9000. I wanted the model in black, but shopped at several different websites and couldn't find a black one. So I settled for the white model. That's the only negative comment I can make about the entire transaction. Not only is the juicer easy to use and compact (despite what another Amazon reviewer says, it's much smaller than comparable machines), it's also backed with a 15-year warranty and excellent service. I had a question in my first week of using the Omega and called the number on the instruction booklet: no recorded message, just a friendly, helpful person. As far as the actual operation/performance of the machine, I couldn't be happier. All stainless steel, it's beautiful and sturdy, and built to last that way. A centrifugal machine, it definitely gets all the juice out of the fruits and vegetables. And with the filters (a great value) clean-up takes less than five minutes. Stop looking. This is the one you want. You'll enjoy fresh juice for (at least) the next fifteen years...

5.0 out of 5 stars Filters are the answer, August 5, 2010

This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
This is a great juicer and will last forever. I bought mine about 15 years ago. This is a work horse. I have found filters do the trick. Similar to the Acme but at this point from my research initially and now from experience has better parts. I have replaced the cutting blade once which is good idea to do.....replaced after about 8 years of use...about 20 dollars.
In the beginning I thought filters would somehow diminish the juice in some way and didn't want to buy an extra item. Omega puts out some unbleached (200 pack) for about 12 bucks. It doesn't filter out anything (perhaps a little pulp and therefor thinner in texture) but makes it so all residue is put together in one clump.I have also read that the soft stuff with more water like citrus, cucumber, tomato etc. can get imbalanced in the basket and is not recommended if using the filters. The most efficient use for this type of juicer is the harder stuff. I use cukes and other watery veggies but even out things by putting the harder stuff first, and by cutting the softer in smaller slivers and feed slowly with harder stuff in-between. This helps but you may get some vibration. Keep in mind though this is not the type for leafy greens. Parsley, spinach etc. is okay but if you you want wheat grass, or to get the most out of spinach and other leafy types the "champion" type is the way to go. Then you look back at this one and clean up seems like a breeze! From time to time though for what ever reason you will get some thing that imbalances things and then I shut it off and take out the stuff with the filter and put in another one. If you don't have an attitude about it, it takes less than a minute and then onward. From my experience this is the norm from time to time and filters help in all this. But most of the time there is no problem...just don't rush things or over load it and things should be fine. Every machine takes a bit of use to get to know it.
Another thing: A lot of talk about all that pulp going to waste...(put it in your compost or there are recipes that use it). Juicing is for specific goals in healing therefor to work right needs the fiber out of the way. It should not be gulped but respected.

To sum up: For a centrifugal type juicer I don't think there is a better one out there. When you compare though, this should at least be in the line up. 2 stars really does not give this model an accurate view. The quality on the 9000 is amazing. It is based on the 1000 which is more expensive with a plastic top rather than this metal one. And the 9000 has a 15 year guarantee!
I have used some that slow the motor if putting in a carrot. With a good blade (this one really does last for years)a carrot whispers through. 1/3 horse power? I have never had a problem thinking that it was too weak.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working after a few days, January 1, 2010
By
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
I bought this juicer and the first few times I made juice it worked ok, but after a few days it stopped working. There's a reset button on the bottom and to get it back to working again you have to press the reset button every few seconds. So it juices for 3-5 seconds and then stops, then you have to press the reset button and then you can juice again for another 3-5 seconds. And halfway through my glass it stopped working completely. This has been very frustrating to use. And it takes a very long time to clean out all the pulp, too. I wouldn't recommend this juicer. I am calling Omega directly tomorrow to find out if they can either replace it or tell me what's wrong with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major problems with this machine, December 14, 2009
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
I bought this juicer for a cleanse, was told it was top of the line and was excited to use but like other reviewers said it "did a dance" which is a nice way to put it, we called it possessed. At first it did not work at all, but after being adjusted did but after a minute or so of juicing it would start to become incredibly loud, shake a lot and spin around. 3 adjustments later and it still was making this horrible noise. I do not recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars One thing after another, May 7, 2010
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
I received this juicer as a gift. When I finally got it in the mail, I opened the box to find missing pieces, and no instructions. Amazon was great about sending a new one to replace it within days of my complaint. When I took out the new one, everything was there. I did a quick "test run", turned it on, and everything seemed fine. Then, as I was getting ready to start juicing, the thing died. I tried the reset button, different outlets, nothing. If you want a juicer, go elsewhere. This thing is not worth the hassle, especially for a few cups of juice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Juice with lotsa juice, September 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
The good - Very powerful motor. I have used 2 other juices, but the Omega 9000 extracts the most juice from fruits and vegetables. The stainless steel parts are also a plus.

The bad - The mesh basket design makes pulp removal difficult. The unit gets off balance very easily. I can barely keep it on the counter it wobbles so hard. I have tried sequencing of high moisture and low moisture ingredience, tried timing the input of the ingredients, but I cannot figure out how to prevent the balancing problem. I searched the brand web site and the web in general but have not found any solution. I have not called the manufacturer yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very Efficient Juicer, December 5, 2011
By
Robin Hood (South Carolina, Anderson) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
First of all let me say that with all the bad reviews on this item I am shocked at how well mine has performed. I don't know if a bunch of fixed machines are going out as new or what but mine has been excellent from day one.

If you do decide to purchase one and get a great one like mine you will be very happy at the pulp free juice and the quick clean up. Honestly, cleaning up any juicer is a real pain so one like this one with a filter makes clean up a 5 minute job...really nothing to it.

I normally juice carrots, calery, parsley, a beet, and maybe some spinach or Kale. I juice fruit on occassion and though you do get a DANCE from the machine when juicing extremely heavy fruit like oranges or grapefruits, you can avoid it mostly by just juicing slow and not cramming it down the chute and expecting it to juice faster than it is able. Cut the pieces up in small pieces and feed them slow and the juice will extract which will prevent the shimmy in the first place.

The one bad thing with this juicer is if you are juicing a ton of vegetables then you will need to shut the machine off and open the top and switch out the filter but I rarely ever make enough juice to do that.

Stainless steel top, outside bowl, inside strainer, and the actual cutting wheel itself....quality parts that I'm surprised to hear has caused so many others trouble.

The juicer is worth the money to me. Whether the Centrifugal juicers are worse than the others that press the juice is upto debate but the best juicer in all the world is the one you'll use the most. If the best juicer in the world takes 20 minutes to clean and a juicer that gets nearly the benefits as the best can be cleaned in a quarter of the time, then the less will actually be more because you'll reap the benefits of actually using it.

Take my word for it, buy this machine. Get it here on Amazon which has a 30 day return policy and use a credit card for double protection with Paypal. You won't be sorry you bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars My favorite juicer, December 1, 2011
This review is from: Omega 9000 Juicer (Kitchen)
Ok, I've had the Omega juicer for 10 years. It is a great juicer. The amount of juice you get is way above and beyond what you get from other juicers as they extract the pulp right away after it's juiced. With the Omega, the pulp is inside the basket and as the motor spins it continues to get more juice out of the pulp. At the end, I tilt forward the nose of the juicer and I get even more juice. So, based on that, I give it four stars. I know for a fact I am saving money on vegetables and fruit because I don't have to juice as much.

I just purchased the Omega 9000 as I left my other one (1000) behind when I was moving. I have done research and I just don't think there is a juicer in this price range that will extract the amount of juice the Omega will. I considered the Vert but it's more expensive and I read that the juice is very thick and pulpy. I have the Vita Mix blender in which I make my raw smoothies, so I sometimes just want a fresh juice, no pulp.

I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the reason that yes, it sometimes does the crazy dance and then it gets outrageously loud. First time it happened I freaked out. Now, if that happens, I just simply remove the pulp and put in a new filter and keep on juicing.

My friends have different types of juicers and all with the pulp extractors and one of them is a Breville, which cost almost as much as the Omega, but when I juiced one apple and one pear it was half the glass versus Omega's full glass. When I touched the pulp in the bin it was extremely moist, however, when I remove the pulp from the Omega it is stiff dry. So it just goes to show you how other juicers compare when it comes to the amount of juice you get. I know I am saving a lot of money on my fruit and veggies with the Omega because I don't have to use as much as with other juicers.

I remain faithful to Omega.
