I use these to anchor my top rope whenever I climb in JT. It's stood up to the harshest of conditions without any sign of coming undone or worse. This is my second time buying these because another brand I purchased is beginning to show signs of wear, and I don't want to take a chance on something like that when it's a life situation.

I highly recomend these for any cllimbing application, as well as any time you may need to lock something down with a caribiner (i.e. on my flack to hold my gear).

I did a lot of rock wall climbing when I worked at a gym. I wanted a trust worthy Carabiner to keep on my chest rig (Plate Carrier). I'm a 230 pounds individual with another 30 pounds of gear. This carabiner was able to hold the weight of myself with the gear. Trust worthy at 260 lbs. I haven't surpassed that weight, but 260 is a huge amount in what I've seen with the average climber. I give this a 5 out of 5

These Omega beeners are the real deal. They are applicable for rescue work, rappelling, or sport climbing. They are super strong at 31 kN. If you don't know how strong that is, the kN is an abbreviation which stands for Kilo Newton. Kilo Newton is a classical mechanical standard to measure the acceleration of a mass. One kN equals approximately 224.8 lbs. Therefore when you have 31kN you have 21X224.8 That equals approximately 6968.8 lbs of acceleration. That is a lot of pounds this beener will hold before reaching its theoretical breaking point. Your rope will stretch as you fall and will not break. This beener will not break on your fall even if you are 250 lbs and fall a distance of 75'. It will hold a lot more but this is an example. Using it as a pulley to raise gear, as a safety anchor for sport climbing or attached to your harness as you rappel; you do not have to worry about this unit ever failing until you see actual rope wear in the metal which shouldn't happen for years. You can safely purchase this and not worry. Remember, the science of classical mechanics have proven this and its high kN rating to be safe.

I use these for firefighting. i must say there great for it. i use them all the time from housting equipment up 3 story buildings to ladder safty. i must say there great for this job or any job because there big enough to open even with fire glove on. very stong and very durible, paint chips (not heat resistant)but it can b re-painted, either way it will still have it's strength. 100% worth the money spent.

I bought this to replace the Maxpedition Keyper. I can put multiple key rings on it and loop it on my 2" wide belt, then lock it on for security. Now I KNOW that my keys are safe and not held on with Velcro. I had an incident in the Boundary Water Canoe Area once with a Velcro pouch getting detached while going through some really dense growth, but luckily the person behind me found it. Now what if that had been my keys and they had not been found?
Sure this item may seem like overkill as a key ring, but there is something to be said for piece of mind knowing that my keys are very secure from accidental loss and theft.

UPDATE AT THE END
Wow....this screw lock carabiner is really a chunk of metal. It's bigger than I thought. You could probably put all four fingers in this thing. I weigh 200 lbs. And I'm sure it would hold my weight easily. I don't know if this is a "For Climbing" rated lock, but it's a big sucker! It's waaaay overkill for what I bought it for, but if you need something to clamp onto a pulley or some such, this is your item.

Okay, I did some research on repelling. I found out that this heavy carabiner IS climb rated. It says on the spine 32 with arrows pointing along that spine. I read that the number is a weight measurement in kn. And this screw lock also has another number 6x6 with arrows pointing toward the gate (the part that opens) so I would assume that means that it takes 6kn to open the gate, and the spring release has 6kn of pressure to close that gate. I am by no means an expert. I've only repelled short distances without using a carabiner at all. And it was very hard to do, and I always ended up with rope burns on my wrists and torso, no matter how slow I went. Anyway, I had never notice before but the small carabiners like you buy to clip a key chain or something has NOT MADE FOR CLIMBING along the spine or gate.

Simple to use, sturdy, looks great. Was pretty inexpensive as well. This is a serious piece of equipment, too large for a key chain in my opinion, but perfect for any carabiner activities you want. Opens and closes easily with thumb and forefinger out of the bag. Ready to use but not packaged for resale, was in a small ziplock type bag with no information. Will update with time on it's longevity, I'm in Florida so it'll get sand, humidity, and fresh and salt water exposure.

This carabiner is slightly smaller than the rentals I have gotten from the gym. I love the compactness. It's held up just as well as the rental units, and it fits my style. The locking mechanism is solid. The texturing is nice, with a smooth carabiner and knurled screwgate.
