Editorial Reviews

"...Sandlin turns in another fast-paced outing with the third book in the Penton Legacy saga. Readers who have followed the saga from the beginning will be delighted to note that Will Ludlam finally takes center stage here. This series continues to ratchet up the drama and this reader hopes that Hollywood will take notice: Penton vampires do not sparkle or kill randomly; these are romances for adult audiences." —RT Book Reviews Top Pick, 4.5 stars (HOT)

"The third Penton Vampire Legacy (see Redemption and Absolution) is an exciting romantic urban fantasy ... With a deep look inside the heads of the key players during the Omega crisis without crimping the action, sub-genre fans will relish Susannah Sandlin super vampire mythos." —Midwest Book Review

Omega is book 3 in the Penton Vampire Legacy. I could not put this book down! The Penton Vampire Legacy series deserves a seat right next to the Blackdagger Brotherhood, Midnight Breeds, Darkhunters, and Darkyn's. It is a vampire series that grabs you by the throat!

Omega is William Lludlam and Randa Thomas's book. The Penton community has been put to the final test and it's full out survival from their enemies. Mathias Lludlam is on a vendetta to destroy Penton and anything associated with the Penton community . He has convinced the vampire Tribuanal to back him for the crimes the Penton leaders have committed against the vampire world. In reality it is Mathias crimes that have forced the Penton leaders to commit in order to protect their world.

This book is packed full of action, pyschological combat, strong & sexy vampires, kickass humans, and red hot romance.

I highly recommend the series!

I've waited so long for this book that I was anxious to start it in good condition. The last book of a series is always special... we want to have a conclusion and in the same time we don't want to leave characters we have come to enjoy a lot. It can either make of a good series a wonder, either crash all the authors' efforts put in it. Omega is keeping his promises really well and gives us a wonderful insight on Will's personality.

Before in Redemption Will was the one who kept the ambience light, making fun, laughing, playing video game but still a real member of Penton Scathe. Later in Absolution, we got to see how he was also the strategist and the mind of Penton, always thinking ahead and supporting Aidan more ways than that was under the light; and a good fighter when needed.
Omega shows us Will in all his complexity with the explanations from his past - though I would have loved to have more details how he met Aidan- and glimpses of his future opportunities. Will is full of potential like the readers could have guessed from the precedent instalments of the story but there is so much more he is unaware of. Under his cool boy façade is a young man who lacks confidence in himself, who fights to prove his worth and thinks that for that he must keep his weaknesses hidden. He is underestimating himself as a result of years of insults and recriminations, to cover how deeply he is hurt emotionally he hides under his façade.
Randa is a new lieutenant of Aidan and the most recently transformed, coming from a military family where she was the only girl surrounded by brothers she has learned to be though and that hasn't changed when she became, against her will, a vampire. But it's mostly a mask too to keep people at distance.

Okay, given that I didn't go into this giving a crap about Will and Randa, I enjoyed the book more than expected. Maybe because their relationship really was such a small part of the book... too small. The plot advancement was interesting, and I'm glad the other characters are all still involved unlike in some series where they practically vanish after their "own" book. But this is almost not a paranormal romance. It doesn't get to be one just because the characters had sex. Will and Randa went from hate, to annoyance, to tolerance to friends to lovers to mates in what felt like a few pages of one on one interaction. And at the end, Randa's reasoning for why they should mate? I realize she is kidding in part, but it FELT like their relationship was that shallow. I don't know, there was just no chemistry there for me. If the books are going to be more about events and the world than people and their relationships, fine, but it needs to be labeled another genre.

The plot itself remains interesting and fast paced, but some things bothered me. The involvement of humans just seems... extremely risky and unlike something any vampires would do, especially the Tribunal guys. And really, a human and vampire counter-terrorist group? I'm not sure where she's going with that idea and the series, but I'm not digging it. Also not really feeling Cage, or at all interested in Mark and Melissa. They always just annoyed me, and thus far just having been a shrink and claiming all the women think he's "hot" has not given Cage an actual personality.

As for the writing, it's still solid for the most part and makes for a relaxing, quick read (I've taken less than a day on each of these books so far, but I ready pretty fast).

I just absolutely Love this series, I loved the first 2 books, Redemption, then Absolution, but really enjoyed this one. It's just builds up and gets better with each book. This one focused more on the brilliant, and gorgeous Will, I liked him in the previous book a lot, and loved his banter with Randa, and even then thought something may come of it. Well, in this book, finally Will finds his equal, and I loved that. We also learn some more of his horrendous past with his father, and it will have you in tears, it did me.
There is so much going on in this book. The Penton community is threatened again, by Wills ruthless father. He is determined to kill Aidan and "The Slayer" - Mirren, forcing the town to escape to Omega, which is a huge underground bunker, well, its pretty big, so bunker really isn't the word. Its brilliant how Will came up with these plans, and has everything covered.

I don't want to give too much away, but will say this is filled with lots of action, and loses, and non-stop excitement. I really, really enjoyed it. It had me on the edge of my seat, and kept me up late into the night to finish it, as I had to know what was going to happen. I can't wait for the next book, as it's an ongoing situation they are in, and need to know how it will end.

I also will say, I really liked the British vamp, Cade, and I have this feeling the next book will have more of his story in it, it will be interesting to see how it plays out, seeing as who he had gotten some feelings for, which I can't tell you, as it would be a huge spoiler.
