This watch is what horology is all about. It's size is 49.2mm. That might seem large but it is amazing how comfortable this watch is once you get it on your wrist. The case itself has both polished and brushed area. Very beautifully done. The dial, at first glance, might look like just a plain black dial. However, that's where the elegance and beauty are---in it's simplicity.
What really takes your breath away is when you turn the watch over and get a look at what I can only guess is a movement that also powered pocket watches. Kudos to Omega for the absolutely beautiful decorating of the movement. Decorating the movement with expertly done Cotes de Geneve and Perlage work has made this movement a truely breath-taking work of art. Although this is a mechanical movement, it is not an automatic--it needs to be hand wound every 1-2 days. However, I feel this is where the purity of the horology is, the way it's been done for hundreds of years. This is the kind of watch that becomes the watch that fathers hand down to thier sons and those sons to thier sons and so on. Taken care of, and serviced on a regular basis, this watch could easily last generations. Even at almost 50mm, this watch will always be in style. Excluding my wife's wedding ring, this is the best four figure purchase I've ever made.
