Editorial Reviews

Review

"...Sandlin turns in another fast-paced outing with the third book in the Penton Legacy saga. Readers who have followed the saga from the beginning will be delighted to note that Will Ludlam finally takes center stage here. This series continues to ratchet up the drama and this reader hopes that Hollywood will take notice: Penton vampires do not sparkle or kill randomly; these are romances for adult audiences." —RT Book Reviews Top Pick, 4.5 stars (HOT)

"The third Penton Vampire Legacy (see Redemption and Absolution) is an exciting romantic urban fantasy ... With a deep look inside the heads of the key players during the Omega crisis without crimping the action, sub-genre fans will relish Susannah Sandlin super vampire mythos." —Midwest Book Review

Omega is book 3 in the Penton Vampire Legacy. I could not put this book down! The Penton Vampire Legacy series deserves a seat right next to the Blackdagger Brotherhood, Midnight Breeds, Darkhunters, and Darkyn's. It is a vampire series that grabs you by the throat!

Omega is William Lludlam and Randa Thomas's book. The Penton community has been put to the final test and it's full out survival from their enemies. Mathias Lludlam is on a vendetta to destroy Penton and anything associated with the Penton community . He has convinced the vampire Tribuanal to back him for the crimes the Penton leaders have committed against the vampire world. In reality it is Mathias crimes that have forced the Penton leaders to commit in order to protect their world.

This book is packed full of action, pyschological combat, strong & sexy vampires, kickass humans, and red hot romance.

I highly recommend the series!

Omega occurs as the Tribunal has decided to disband the community of Penton. With lives and freedom on the line, everyone is tense and on the edge. Will is spotlighted in this series and his sharp wit and teasing nature are on vivid display. This story progresses and the action builds with a tension that is palpable, demanding that you read on. As this series has progressed, more of the background information for all of the characters and the hesitancy about the Tribunal becomes clearer, and urges you to root for the survival of Penton and the people (vampire and human) that it shelters. I read all three of the books in this series in one sitting, and am desperate to read book four. With a writing style that exceeded all of my expectations, Susannah Sandlin has created one of the best vampire series that I have read to date.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for the BTS eMagazine. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I've waited so long for this book that I was anxious to start it in good condition. The last book of a series is always special... we want to have a conclusion and in the same time we don't want to leave characters we have come to enjoy a lot. It can either make of a good series a wonder, either crash all the authors' efforts put in it. Omega is keeping his promises really well and gives us a wonderful insight on Will's personality.

Before in Redemption Will was the one who kept the ambience light, making fun, laughing, playing video game but still a real member of Penton Scathe. Later in Absolution, we got to see how he was also the strategist and the mind of Penton, always thinking ahead and supporting Aidan more ways than that was under the light; and a good fighter when needed.
Omega shows us Will in all his complexity with the explanations from his past - though I would have loved to have more details how he met Aidan- and glimpses of his future opportunities. Will is full of potential like the readers could have guessed from the precedent instalments of the story but there is so much more he is unaware of. Under his cool boy façade is a young man who lacks confidence in himself, who fights to prove his worth and thinks that for that he must keep his weaknesses hidden. He is underestimating himself as a result of years of insults and recriminations, to cover how deeply he is hurt emotionally he hides under his façade.
Randa is a new lieutenant of Aidan and the most recently transformed, coming from a military family where she was the only girl surrounded by brothers she has learned to be though and that hasn't changed when she became, against her will, a vampire. But it's mostly a mask too to keep people at distance.

Still can give it a 5 start because of the language. Sorry but I was raised by a woman who believed you should use your intelligence to broaden your vocabulary, not get stuck on a few foul words.
BUT besides that the story line got even better in this book. Loved the way she tied in the humans. And I was never so happy as when S got what he deserved. The very realistic and horrific background stories she gave W in this story had me almost in tears but livid at the same time. She makes you feel strongly for her characters. Be it in a positive or negative light. I was very impressed with how she has progressed with each book.

I’ve been a very lucky reader this year and have found many original paranormal reads, Omega is definitely one of them. It’s exciting, sensual, touching, and fun all rolled into one great read any fan of the genre will enjoy.

Randa is one kick butt heroine. She’s a tough chick that has an amazing heart and outer beauty to match. She’s a fairly new vampire (5 years to be exact) and cannot bring herself to accept her new life and what it entails. She closes herself off a bit from others and her own explorations due to this fact. She figures she’ll stick to what she knows best and that’s kicking bad guy bootie!

Will is an older vampire (about 60 years in) and has grown to accept what he is. He’s extremely smart and VERY good looking. He also has a haunted past that has brought him to see himself as weak and a bit worthless. He comes off as arrogant and cold, but he’s very far from it all (love this guy!)

LOVE both Randa and Will. Two great peeps (vamps) right there and even better together. I forgot to mention earlier that I started at this point in the series, I’ve not read book 1 or 2 and found myself at perfect ease with the story, never got lost or had to stop and ask “huh”. It is very wonderfully written so it can be read as a stand-alone. I look forward to reading more from Susannah.
