What's to say ?
Maybe the greatest scary musical trilogy in the history of cinema...
At the helm, Maestro Goldsmith... who seems to have channeled the powers of evil and opened a gateway to an orchestral inferno !
The first Omen garnered him his only Oscar (it's a mystery why he never got more... maybe the films he worked on were a bit sub-par compared to his peers).
The vocal theme "Ave Satani" is goosepimple stuff !
Omen II takes his musical vocabulary from the 1st movie and extends it...as the original LP sleeve stated, it's really a "Black Mass" (watch out for those weird croaking sounds from the male choir !). It is a wild ride !
The Final Conflict may have been the weakest film of the trilogy... but allowed Jerry Goldsmith to outdo himself and musically top the two previous entries. His work leans toward a more operatic vocabulary and is much subtler and subdued at times, even moments of ecstatic beauty... but there are still many scary moments to be heard !
All in all, this group of 3CDs is a real bargain for such high-profile scores (scores are extented from the old LP versions and also remastered, especially Omen III which was a bit muffled on vinyl) ! Go for it... and don't forget to have your Bible nearby when you listen... just in case...

This is the complete creepy classic. Jerry Goldsmith Oscar winning music from the trilogy of Omen films remastered to perfection. This haunting music is unforgetable and truely unique among other soundtracks...you will be scared.

I consider Jerry Goldsmith as one of the finest film-music composers and this CD contains some of his best horror-related scores--especially the original Omen, for which he received an Academy Award.

I can think of no better way of dispelling any bad vibes incurred by Fox's execrable remake of 'The Omen' than returning to Jerry Goldsmith's superlative original scores.

THE OMEN: Oscar winning, Ave Santani is the biggy (if shorty.) The rest gets old quickly and the chanting fits better in context of the film, a drawback with a lot of soundtrack releases.

DAMIEN: OMEN 2: I've always wanted to get my hands on the main theme of this, with it's frog chorus backing (at least that's what I always called it. Don't go near the pond!) The rest as above works better watching the film.

THE FINAL CONFLICT: Considering the brief, the composer may be forgiven for writing a sweeping, biblical score more fitting to an old sword and sandals epic rather than the dour and cheap knock-off in which it appeared so incongruous. Although it unbalanced the movie, it stands out the best as a stand-alone piece and is arguably the masterpiece of the three. A portentous classic.
