Strong mount, confident in mounting hardware.,

This review is from: OmniMount UCL-XB Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
This mount is heavy and has a lot of strength to support heavy panels. The cable management is much better than competing products that don't even attempt to hide cables. Be careful and take your time - the covers are made of plastic and make break if you try to force them. I would have liked to see metal covers, but with appropriate installation, they work fine and Omnimount may have been trying to keep the weight of the mount down. The cantilever arms are attractive and don't look as utilitarian as a Sanus or Peerless mount. They have a distinct strong and techy look.
Installation took me an hour, but there's no reason to rush the install. A mistake in preparation just makes it take many times longer. I recommend that you make sure you have a good stud finder and then use a finish nail to test the edges of your stud location. You really want to have the lag bolts hit the center of each stud. I used a decent box level and the provided template. The mount base, once lagged onto the wall, is fairly easy. The adapter plate for the plasma attaches easily. I'd have to say that the hardest part is to have another person able to lift half of 150lbs of plasma tv up to the mount. Thankfully Omnimount has provided a method to rest the adapter on the mount until it can be fastened tightly. I placed a level on top of the plasma after it was mounted and made a tiny adjustment using the adjustment screws to ensure the TV wasn't canted. So order a pizza, chill the beer, and invite a buddy and make sure you start early enough to watch a game afterward. Note: many mount instructions show diagrams with the tv screen flat against the floor when installing an adapter on the back... That's not a good idea for a TV that has "this side up" in 17 languages on the box when shipped. Put a blanket on the top edge and lean it against a wall when installing the adapter to the rear of the TV and make sure that you check for depth on your screw holes before chosing the adapter screw. Lift with your knees ;)

Great Mount..Poor Manual,

Incredibly engineered product...instructions written by 9th graders who have never held a tool. They should honestly just put cartoon pictures in their manual, no words. Horrible website if you are trying to find info for spacer and bolting for newer lcd/plasma models not included in the list. I should have never opened the manual. If you know what you're doing, no problems. I give the mount a 5 out 5 and the instruction manual a 1 out of 5. They do include an excellent wall template for mounting. This was used for a 58" plasma. I love the product.

People are right...the instructions leave a lot to be desired but if you think it through as you are going then there really isn't that much to worry about.
Here are the experiences I came across: 1. Make sure you removed the screws for the original tv stand if you have it on (which is most likely seeing you are installing the wall mount). My stand screw were right under the beams for the frame used to hang the tv on the mount. 2. The tv is slightly off center now as the studs were not where they needed to be...but I don't even notice it after a day. Also the mount allows for a 1" slide (left or right) from where the studs are. 3. I read that this mount was only for 16" studs but the model I got, which I would suspect would be the same as everyone elses, could mount anything between 16" and 18"...although the template provided for the drill holes is only for 16" mounts. 4. The mount is super sturdy and holds our 52" LCD TV easily. 5. I bought the 'like new' item and some of the cable covers used for running the cords through the mount were broken (but usable)...not an issue but something to be aware of when not buying new. 6. I had nail plates in my studs to protect a water pipe at exactly the height I wanted to mount my tv but the mount was flexible enough that I was able mount it about 6 inches higher on the wall than I wanted but still be within an inch of where I wanted the tv to sit. 7. Took me about 3 hours to install but most of that was making sure I didn't drive a drill bit into a water pipe. 8. The tv sits about 6 inches out from the wall and is a little difficult to move around, especially without getting your grotty little fingerprints all over the bezel...but I would definately recommed the mount.

This review is about OmniMount UCL-XB Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Black)
I purchased this Wall Mount based upon extensive research on Wall Mounts. I also made the purchase because I wanted the flexibility to move the TV around different viewing angles because of the location of where it will be mounted. I want to thank those who have reviewed this product....Your reviews were excellent. I agree 100% that the product is an AWESOME piece of equipment. This PRODUCT feels and looks great. After I mounted on the wall, I did some pushups on it...That is how sturdy and strong the steel is!!! I want to share a couple of helpful hints when putting this together. I am a computer guy and not a construction type guy so I think this will help the DIY novice like myself. I spent alot of time on making sure that the guide diagram that you attach to the wall was EXACTLY LEVEL... I highly recommend using a Stud finder. This helped me to find the center of each 2 by 4 wall stud. This is VERY, VERY important in order to have a SUCCESSFUL and STABLE MOUNT. Without this, you will be risking a crashing thud of your TV... The only thing that stumped me during the installation was HOW to adjust the rails when attaching the 50 inch TV that I needed to mount. The manual doesn't tell you how to do it.....The piece that connects to the TV collapses, but on my Samsung...one of the holes did NOT line up.....I wasn't sure if I needed to take off one rail or both...Also, there is NO instruction on how to take them off... In my case,,I had to remove both rails and move them over one hole and then put all of the screws back in....That allowed holes to line up. Also, the instructions for how to put the screw in the hole with washer are INCORRECT.....You need a screw, washer, and spacer(MM). The manual shows an extra spacer(MN) that is no LONGER required!!! I actually thought that I was missing parts!! However, I found a Paper insert that showed the spacer labeled MN is no longer required......Wish they updated the MANUAL!! Lastly, I wanted to note how great the engineering idea was to keep the TOP 2 holes OPEN on the Mounting plate that sticks out from the Wall....That was GENIUS! It allows you to put in both TOP SCREWS ahead of picking up the TV and placing it on the PLATE...This is AWESOME! Do yourself a favor and put BOTH TOP SCREWS(put it in far enough to hold...not all the way) in prior to placing the TV on it. The last 2 screws need to be put it after the TV rests on the Mount. This installation took me about 2 to 3 hours.....If the manual was right and you have done this before..I could see it taking less than 1 hour. Overall, I'm very impressed with the workmanship of this mount and would buy the product again.

The mount itself is high quality and very easy to install if you have some basic skills. I was very picky on the install and it only took me an hour or so. It is a little more expensive than other mounts, but I wanted to make sure it would work well and I wouldn't have problems adjusting the TV when it was on the mount. The TV can swing or tilt with ease. Very stable and sturdy. This mount will last longer than I do.
Only issue I had was with the shipping. Bought from 6th ave- first box was all beat up and some of the plastic covers were broke - returned for replacement. Second box looked great, but when I opened it there still was one broken plastic cover. This time I emailed OmniMount instead of returning cause it took so long to get it replaced from 6th ave (3 weeks). OmniMount was very helpful. They had no problem sending a whole new set of covers.

This mount is awesome. It looks great and is super easy to install. The instructions leave a little to be desired. If I had to use this mount again, I could get the tv and the mount installed in a third of the time now that I know what I am doing. It is adjustable on every axis - tilt, in and out, side to side and rotation. I was a fraction off when I put the mounting plate onto the wall. I was able to make the slight correction by rotating the tv slightly up or down. This insures the user, even with a small error, that the tv will be perfectly square to the viewer. My wife and I were easily able to lift our new Samsung 52 lcd onto the mounting bracket and secure it. Great product, would recommend to anyone even those who are not all that mechanically inclined.

After 2 days of fixing my wall and re-drywalling where I had to cut out for the mount, everything looks great. Mount is sturdy and holds my 46" Samsung at the perfect level. 1 thing i did notice is after 2-3 days of being mounted the till went off the y axis a bit and I need to re level the TV on te vertical. Anyone have that issue and are there 2 screws on the tilt adjutment on the muddle of the bracked, one on the top and one on the bottom that do not have nuts? Mount adjusts good and cables hide good. Instructions really suck, I had to do some improvision but once this is done the only way this is coming down is if the wall comes down with it.

PROs:
+ Great supply of misc hardware to mount for almost any size flat panel. + Comforting double arm support for nice pivot motion. Handy tilt function for up and down viewing angles (especially good for LCD with viewing not as great as plasma). + Clever +/- bolt spacing for slight stud spacing +/-. + Excellent mechanics with support bracket spanning evenly to pivot arm. CONs: - Plastic caps for metal rails are cheap and don't even fit/attach. - Too much misc hardware left over. - No caps to conceal wall bolts. Use same color bolts?

To the guy who gave it 1 star... you forgot to do your homework before buying a $300 wall mount. Thats on you, not the mount. 16" studs are standard, and you can always cut out some sheetrock and make a brace.
There is a slider and slotted bolt holes so you can center the tv about 6-10 inches off the center of the studs. After I mounted it, I fully extended it and hung my body weight from it (175 lb) before attaching the TV with no problems. Cable management could be better.

Best mount on the market, hands down,
By
This review is from: OmniMount UCL-XB Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
This product exceeded my expectations. In my opinion this is the best mount on the market that I have seen, hands down! It gives the flexibility of panning the TV left, right, up or down depending on where you or your guests are sitting or to avoid glare. It also allows the TV to extend from the wall a good 3 feet or better! The instructions are suspect. Download a better version from the Omnimount website. I was able to install it myself with the help of a friend. The dual arms mount on two studs and gives me that "warm fuzzy" when I mounted my 52" Sharp Aquos. You don't want to trust your $2,000 - $3,000 investment on a shabby mount. The best part is that I saved at least $250 with Amazon over Best Buy! I highly recommend for any 47" or larger TV
