1.0 out of 5 stars Worst KVM Console I've Ever Used, October 28, 2008
By
M. McCabe (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the worst KVM console I have ever used. We bought three of these at the same time for a new deployment, and boy were we disappointed.

The first thing that struck me was how complicated it was to assemble the rails for this device. It does not come with sliding rails, and only has two possible positions. If the vertical rails in your rack do not match up, this will not work for you. We had to use zip straps on the back end of these to get them mounted.

Secondly, there is only a 30-day warranty on these. The monitor died on one of the three in the first week. It only took a month to get the replacement in. After that first month, another one had the keyboard die. By this time, the warranty period had expired and we were out $2000!

We bought an extremely nice Dell KVM console to replace it for half the price. About three months later, I pulled out the keyboard drawer on the third one to log in to a server, and all of the ball bearings in the slide fell out onto the floor. There must have been a hundred of them, all over the place.

None of the screws stay in place, and over time they all work their way out until the assembly just starts falling apart. We still have one, and the only thing holding it together are the servers above and below that are sandwiching it together.

Seriously, steer clear of this thing. Belkin makes great cables and PC accessories, but clearly have no clue how to make a quality KVM console.
