Tom Waits approved., July 25, 2007
This review is from: Ompa Til Du Dor (Audio CD)
This album is simply fantastic. From it's obvious Tom Waits and Eastern European Folk influences to the accordions, oil drums, pump organ sound, what else can you really ask for? Besides being the best selling scandinavian language record of all time, this album has all the elements needed for a drunken night on the town. From Bak et Halleluja's sheer punk mad accordion riff to Mr. Kaizer Hans Constanze and Meg's end of the world party feel, this album has found it's way into at least one more punks heart.

Something original, melodic, and just overall a wonderful album., May 8, 2009
This review is from: Ompa Til Du Dor (Audio CD)
I will admit, at first I was highly disappointed with this album. The only reason why was that the first and only song I heard before getting this album was Bak Et Hallelujah, which I could not stop listening to. I was expecting a fast paced, Nordic orchestral album. Besides Bak Et Hallelujah, the songs are far more based on slower melodies. After giving it my first full play through to get over the whole "this isn't what I expected" phase, I listened to it the next day straight through with my expectations changed...and then again...and then another time, and the cycle just keeps going. The album is incredible, and if you can find a translation to the lyrics, they are truly incredible lyrics. I would recommend this album to anyone who is looking for something new, something exciting, something just a bit out of the ordinary. They use a beautiful combination of Oil Drums, accordion, and I believe what I'm hearing on a lot of songs is a banjo, but I could be wrong. Bottom line, this album is great and there isn't one track I ever feel I should just skip over on a play through.

Fantastic Album, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Ompa Til Du Dor (Audio CD)
I want to learn Norwegian, just so I can further appreciate the cleverness present in Kaizers Orchestra's lyrics and music. A great album--in a sort of gypsy-punk style--that revolves around a mafia and some of its members, it has a fantastic flow, much like a good novel. Give them a listen if you have the chance.
