I purchased this unit because of the excellent reputation of the manufacturer and because of the product features. When I received it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it looks much better than the picture represents. Although the design is simple, the fit & finish details give it the appearance of a finely-crafted instrument. And it is. I recently had my body fat percentage tested at a health fair and the results were the same as the Omron's. The weight registered matches my Health-o-Meter scale, but the Omron is a lot more consistent. The HBF-400 isn't perfect - if I place my feet off-center or if I shift my weight toward my heels or toes, it may register a slightly different reading. However, if I take the effort to weigh myself the same way each time, the readings are remarkably accurate. Highly recommended.

I bought this after reading the Amazon and other reviews because I wanted a simple scale that included body fat %. The BMI reading is a bonus. I also initially needed a scale with a higher than usual range (started at 330 lbs).

I've used four other digital scales but not other scale gives consistently the same result like this Omron. Any other digital scale will give a different result each time I reset it, usually a small difference depending on where you put the scale (type of flooring) or where yo put your feet. But the Omron is 99% consistent, and when it varies it is only by the smallest increment (it goes by .2 lbs).

I've been tracking my weight for about three years over which I've gone from 330 lbs to 250 lbs. I've used this scale just about daily for the last 2.5 years (my wife also uses it).

It worked so well that when I started a healthy weight competition at my office we used part of the buy-in money to get THIS scale because consistent results and a high weight range were important for a fair competition.

It holds a charge with 4 batteries for over 3 months even with daily use. This part surprised me more than anything else - other scales eat up batteries but this Omron just kept going and going (so to speak).

I had only one issue after 2 years: the battery cover got loose. I heated it up with a lighter for a couple seconds and pushed it out at the flexible part and now it's good as new. So, the scale isn't perfect, but that's VERY minor issue after 2 years and it was an easy fix.

I highly recommend this scale and % body fat monitor - great range, consistent, easy to use, good price, and long lasting.
