Easy to use, excellent product,

The Omron HBF-306 is very simple to use. Because it uses electrical resitance and calculated "wing span" to measure BF%, it's possible (due to differences in arm length) that your reading may not be 100% accurate compared to a clinical "immersion" test. However, it is definitely consistent! I also have caliper type pinchers and found them too inconsistent (unless you can pinch the same exact spot each time).
With the Omron HBF-306, you can easily track changes in your body fat % as you progress through your fitness training. You'll be able to easily tell if your losing fat and/or gaining muscle by monitoring your BF% along with your weight. Check your weight and body fat % first thing in the morning for the most consistent readings. I highly recommend it.

I am comparing it against other methods right now, but it seems to be nearly as accurate as any other method. However it becomes much less accurate at competition leanness, that being below 15% body fat...or at low body water points in your training.
One advantage of the HPF 306 Body Fat Tracker is that you can use it without anyone else to help. I have used a many tools over the decades and for the price...this sure seems to be a great one! As another reviewer noted...this is best used by taking measurements over a period of time and tracking changes. If your interest is simply to monitor your body composition over time for general health, once every one to three months is a good interval. If, on the other hand, you have a specific goal or are in an intensive nutrition/training cycle, you may wish to track once a week. If you are looking to lose weight (by losing excess fat) ...measuring Lean Body Mass and Body Fat is the only way to insure you are not losing muscle and water. Many diets cause massive losses of water and muscle (very low calorie and low carbohydrate diets for example)...leading to a quick regain of pounds at some point. If you are on a diet program, and nobody is measuring your Lean Body Mass and Body Fat, you simply do not know what your body is doing. So you know my credentials, I have been involved in health and fitness for over 20 years as a Body Builder, Body Sculptor, Trainer, Consultant, Coach and many other positions in the field. I am currently the Director of Personal Success Now. For the best accuracy with this... You should take the measurements at the same time of day. You should take your body weight (needed to determine Lean Body Mass and Body Fat) on THE SAME SCALE at the same time of day every time. Also, note what cloths you were wearing when you weigh yourself on the scale...always wear them for the weigh-in. Take a photograph of yourself now!! It is so helpful to see images of yourself at 30% bodyfat, then at 25%, then at 20%, then at 18%! If you feel shy, take them yourself in front of a mirror! You will be glad you did. Just trust me on that. If the program you are following is not giving you results in three weeks, something is not right. Get some help from a knowledgeable and qualified trainer. They can help you shorten the time it takes to reach your goals and be Your Personal Best. Always ask potential program managers/trainers how they will help you achieve your goals. If they will not be using these components to help you...consider finding someone else: 1) Food and Nutrient intake monitoring 2) Cardiorespiratory Training 3) Resistance Training 4) Personal Assistance including Body composition monitoring Additionally, if you are looking to lose body fat, you should consider removing foods with flavorings, colorings, additives, and preservatives from your diet at this time, as clinical tests have demonstrated that some of these can adversely effect bodyfat mobilization (i.e. fat burning) and some even enhance fat storage and stimulate the appetite. Wishing you Personal Success Now! P.S. The Omron HBF-306 uses pounds (weight) and inches (height) for measurements not metric....but can be switched between the two.

Esy to use and very consistent,

My instructor at the gym uses the pinch type calipers and my doctor used this one. Both were consistent and within 0.2% of each other. The Omron HPF 306 Body Fat Tracker is a lot easier and you don't have to strip down and be poked and prodded. I love it!!!
Now I only go to my doctor to chart my progress...

The Omron analyzer, like any other electronic fat analyzer, measures the resistance of a given electric current thru two ports of the body (hand-to-hand in this case, foot-to-foot in other designs; recall that it uses batteries - DC producers). The results on this device - for me - have been significantly higher than when I use a four-sight caliper method and the US Navy circumference method. However, I reccomend using this product as a measure of absolute change: if it tells you that you have 25% BF on day 1 and 20% BF on day 120, then you lost 5 points. The truth may be that you went from 21% to 16%. Don't get too hung up on the numbers, but rather the change in the numbers over time. The fact that you are measuring fat instead of weight already speaks volumes about your approach.

You can store up to 10 profiles in this, I think. It doesn't take but a minute to enter your info in and then hold for a few seconds while it measures your body fat. I rely on using this to know if I am doing any good with my workout. You can't trust scales if you are doing heavy workouts with lots of muscle working. Muscle weighs more than fat. People are discouraged to step on scales after weeks of intense workout only to find they gained weight. It is a good weight gain. At least with a body fat monitor, you can tell if you are really losing the fat and gaining the muscle.
Great price for product.

Results seem to match skin fold test performed by my gym,
This review is from: Omron Body Logic Fat Loss Monitor model HBF-306C(Black) (Health and Beauty)
I find the HPF-360 very easy to use, and the results are very close to the measurements from caliper test they provide at my gym (and charge for).
Of note, I was really impressed by the packaging and build quality. Batteries where included (nice) and the build quality exceeded my expectation on such an inexpensive device.

Using the fat tracker!,

I purchased the fat tracker because I lead support groups for patients who have had the gastric bypass. This is an excellent item which allows them to see their progress (besides what they see in the mirror). Not only does it give them their percent of body fat, but it also gives them their BMI.
The price made it very affordable for me to be able to purchase it and make it available to my patients. It was/is worth every single penny.

PersonalFitnessZone.com recommends measuring body fat to track weight loss progress!,

The scale is NOT your friend if you are trying to lose weight! Measure body fat for a more accurate picture of your efforts. The Omron handheld Body Fat Analyzer is simple to use and the readings seem very close to handheld calipers. The important thing is to track your body fat progress consistently, so this is a great tool that can be used by anyone. I particularly like the fact that it has an "athletic" mode which would be used by most people that do incorporate strength training into their workout routine.

Iam very happy with this body fat analyzer. It's easy and fun to use. It's very helpful for people trying to lose weight. It's easy to get discouraged when the number on the scale isn't budging but when you have this product, and you see that you've lost fat, it's easier to keep up your healthy habits of diet and exercise.

I've used BF analyzers for years, even before I became a CPT. I like the scale combos but I prefer the handheld. This model in particular is really nice. It has many diverse features that would probably fit just about anyone who would be smart enough to get one (that's not a sarcastic comment, few understand that the true measure of health and weight is in body composition, not weight or anything else). This thing is so quick and simple I don't have to take a major break or excessive preparation to use it. You just hold it straight out in front of you a few seconds and you got your own personal body composition measurements. That is invaluable and for anyone who knows or cares anything about health, totally essential! I love this thing b/c it doesn't take up much space, it's compact, easy to store, durable, effecient, and (among other things) very accurate! I used some of these type back in college but this particular one is the best one I've used. It's like a health index computer w/ handlebars. I use mine for everyone in my family and as a personal trainer I don't train anyone w/o keeping thorough records of their body composition b/c it is simply the single best way to chart exact progress.
