Book Description

July 17, 2012 Teen Wolf
DREAMS CAN COME TRUE. JUST NOT THE GOOD ONES.

In Beacon Hills, a mountain lion is blamed for a spate of vicious attacks; Scott McCall wishes the cause was that simple. Unfortunately, hiding his werewolf identity, especially from Allison Argent, while fighting his need to shift, is only one problem. Keeping his mysterious, murderous Alpha off his back (literally), avoiding hunters, deciphering strange dreams about flames and impending doom . . . is really eating into lacrosse practice and hang-out time. So when Jackson Whittemore doesn’t show for his date with Lydia, Scott hopes that helping Allison track down their buddy will be simpler. Derek—whose hunger for vengeance blinds him to the dangers that lie in wait—and Stiles are also looking, but the worried teens’ search is leading right to the preserve from Scott’s nightmare. They aren’t the only ones in the woods, and their little trip starts looking less like a rescue mission and more like an elaborate trap—one that will force them to make the choice between killing and being killed. . . .

More About the Author

I am the New York Times bestelling coauthor of the New York Times bestselling WICKED, CRUSADE, and THE WOLF SPRINGS CHRONICLES series, all written with Debbie Viguié. We are so excited to announce that HOT BLOODED, the second book in the Wolf Springs Chronicles, is now on sale!

I also have two other new books: TEEN WOLF: ON FIRE, and BUFFY: THE MAKING OF A SLAYER. TEEN WOLF: ON FIRE is a novel set in the universe of the hot new MTV show, which is filming its 3rd season now.

BUFFY: THE MAKING OF A SLAYER is a beautiful tribute book published by 47 North with Joss Whedon's approval. We collected lots of never-before-seen images from the private collections of Buffy staffers, as well as interviews and reminiscences. Amber Benson, played Tara, wrote the foreword.

She and I will be joined by Emmy-award-winners John Vulich (special effects makeup) and Todd McIntosh (makeup) on December 15th at Dark Delicacies bookstore in Burbank, California at 2PM. http://www.darkdel.com

The first book in the Wolf Springs Chronicle series is UNLEASHED. Our book trailer showed in select theaters before TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN, and DVD samplers are being handed out, too. We have received wonderful reviews for UNLEASHED. Here are just a few:

Livin' Life Through Books -5 Stars
"A seriously great read! I loved the paranormal world that Kat is suddenly thrust into. Very creepy and was immediately hooked in the beginning. I loved the romance triangle between Kat, Trick, and Justin, and couldn't get enough." - Felicia

Nightly Reading - 5 Stars
"I love the cover of this book. After reading the book in its entirety, I realized just how appropriate the cover really is with the full moon and the woods in the background."

365andMe - 5 Stars
" From the get-go, this young adult werewolf story had me hooked...Bottom line, I can't wait to read book two. This is my first book by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié. I enjoyed it so much, I'd like to try another series while waiting for book two of the Wolf Springs Chronicles to come out."

"If you love Nightshade, or Kelley Armstrong you will definitely like this book, it has love, betrayal and A LOT of mystery. A great read." -- Siobhan Reads a Lot (blog)

Avid Reading in NV - 5 Stars
"I loved this book from page one, haven't been able to put it down till i just finished it."

Mundie Moms - 4.5 Stars
"This is a classic paranormal read! It's dark, thrilling and one I quickly devoured. I've read a lot of enjoyable wolf books this year, and this one is definitely at the top of my list. Nancy and Debbie's enticing blend of mystery, suspense, passion, love and loyalty made for a story that was hard to put down." - Katie

---

I am also the author of the POSSESSIONS series, for young adults, about a haunted boarding school, where the mean girls are EVIL. The BookKidsBLog says, "Possessions is the novel Stephen King would written if he'd been asked to write Gossip Girl." As I am a HUGE Stephen King fan, this made my head spin around like that poor little girl in The Exorcist.

I have also written some fairy tale retellings as well as tons of what we call "tie-in" books--which are based on TV shows and movies. My tie-ins include HELLBOY, SMALLVILLE, SAVING GRACE, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL, and others.

I was born in California and have lived in Germany and Japan. I was a ballet dancer for a while but after an injury I gave that up. I attended the University of Hawaii and graduated from the University of California at San Diego. I am also a faculty member of the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing Program, offered through the University of Southern Maine.

I live in San Diego with my wonderful daughter, Belle, our sweet Corgis Panda and Tater, and our three cats, David, McGee, and Kittnen Snow Vampire. I love to travel and watch STARGATE SG-1, CHUCK, DR.WHO, TEEN WOLF, and CASTLE.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't Impressed January 19, 2013
By Megan
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are a few things that I didn't care for about this book. But the main problem I had is that Nancy Holder takes events out of the chronological timeline. The first chapter clearly states that the book begins at the end of the fifth episode of season one, "The Tell." However in Chapter Four on page 41,
"Maybe they could flush out the Alpha by observing him. If only she could figure out who the second Beta was. Maybe the sheriff's kid. Maybe the one with the werewolf claw marks on his neck. What was his name-Jackson?"

Kate isn't even introduced to Jackson OR notice the marks on his neck until the ninth episode of season one "Wolfs Bane".

Also, on page 10.

"Stiles had on his bull's-eye T-shirt, and it kind of freaked Scott out when he wore it. As if it meant that Stiles was a target. They both knew the Alpha wanted Scott to kill him, to cement Scott's acceptance that he was a member of the Alpha's pack."

During the point this book takes place they should not know that information. It isn't until the end of the seventh episode "Night School" that Scott realizes this.

The writing wasn't horrible, however all of the exposition explaining the storyline was difficult to get through. Yes, it made the story easier to follow for someone who isn't familiar with the show or it's storyline. But for those who are familiar, it made the story repetitive and, in my opinion, bland. Also, as has been mentioned before, there wasn't enough Stiles for me.

Perhaps I am merely too picky a person, but my recommendation would be to search your local libraries for a copy of "On Fire" before you decide to purchase it.

Just a couple of examples as to why I wasn't impressed with this novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Teen Wolf August 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fans of Teen Wolf absolutely will love this book, because it holds all of the elements of the show with a literary twist. It was a bit difficult to start it off, as it attaches itself to a former episode in season one and trails off from there. But once you get into it it's hard to get out.

My favorite parts were the chapters from Derek's perspective. In the show he's such a mysterious character and we don't get to see too much into his head, but in this book we see much more than we could have hoped. With flashbacks to Derek's past leading up the the fateful fire that killed his family we see a side to Derek Hale we never saw in the show.

There were parts I wished the author would have capitalized on. One of them being Stiles. His character is no doubt the funniest in all of the show, and I feel he was tossed aside a little too carelessly in this novel. The parts he was involved in were spectacular, but they were too far in between all of the Derek angst and the Scott and Alison kissing.

This was definitely a great book, and I highly recommend it to all Teen Wolf fans!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for avid fans, but an average read December 24, 2012
By Karen
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This read like an average piece of fan-fiction to me. I'd recommend it to anyone who is desperately attached to the show, as I think it's nice to get a glimpse of some things that went down before the show began (re: the Hale house fire). The writing wasn't particularly strong, and the plot was a little ridiculous, but I enjoyed it overall. The real question now is whether or not this can be considered canon. If so, it'll be nice to (hopefully) see some of this played out on screen in season 3.

Good. I was a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Her characterization was pretty spot on. Especially Derek and Stiles. Would recommend for Teen Wolf fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Book
The book was pretty good. It was written a bit too simple especially for a ya book--almost like the writer tried to dumb it down for an audience younger than her key demographic. Read more

In the book Scott didn't change into a wolf that much. I do not recommend it. It doesn't even say anything that the 1st season had.
