Book Description

May 14, 2012
Winner of the 2013 Independent Publisher Book Award for Travel Guidebook and the first illustrated guide to the High Line, America's favorite new urban park.
Thirty feet in the air, rebuilt and planted on one-and-a-half miles of abandoned, elevated railroad track snaking through Manhattan's West Side, the High Line park in NYC has turned the dream of escape offered by most urban parks inside out.

The High Line invites you deeper into the city than you've ever been before. Its stunning gardens wend between warehouses and apartment buildings, through one of the world's most vibrant contemporary art districts, transforming the neighborhood and reawakening the senses of the millions of visitors it attracts every year.

On the High Line is an engaging, friend-at-your-side guide to everything that a visitor sees when strolling through the park: the innovative gardens and their thousands of plants from around the world; the architecture, both old and new; and a neighborhood whose lively history includes the birth of the railroads, the Manhattan Project, S & M clubs, and the legendary Tenth Avenue Cowboy. Watch a rare 1930s video clip of the cowboy at HighLineBook.com/cowboy

Illustrated with some 400 color photos by principle photographers Scott Mlyn and Juan Valentin, and including the work of noted photographer and horticulturist Rick Darke, the book also features a ten-page foldout map. On the High Line captures the countless details that make a walk here such an unforgettable experience. Find photos, videos, slideshows and information about the companion app on HighLineBook.com. 5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful addition to my NYC specific collection November 13, 2012
Format:Paperback
Length: 1:31 Mins
This book is such a treasure, that I was glad and happy to have it in traditional form. Quality printing and a quality topic like this really lends itself to the manual book format and enhances the subject matter. I'm so happy I came across this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The very best book about the High Line March 30, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Even though there are several larger-format books about the High Line, I really think this one has the very best (and most) selection of photos.
