Paul Taylor defines what a sax player should be on this CD. Smooth, cool, uplifting and absolutely enjoyable to listen too. On the Horn is much much better than Pleasure Seeker--his second CD and is a must have for any smooth jazz listerner. I've enjoyed Taylor as a guest sax player on many other smooth jazz CD's and glad to know he's got a few CD's on his own. Check him out...his music is worth listening too.

Paul Taylor has Talent. Real and True. There is a feeling of totality to his music. He conveys so many emotions, and they are all Good ones. He knows what he's doing. Paul's music utilizes teasing build ups and smooth flows back down to keep this listener hooked. My mind is soothed, my body sways and my heart soars. Ah! Paul has played with America's renowned number one female instrumentalist, Keiko Matsui and she accompanies him on the piano on tracks four and eight*. Paul Dominates on all tracks using alto and soprano saxophones. The accompaning musicians Derek Nakamoto, Basil Fung (perfect bass!), and of course, Keiko; are all Experts and make Paul shine. And shine he does, like the Hope Diamond! Bravo to all involved and excellent production by Robert L. Tauro. Derek Nakamoto plays keyboards and synthesizers, bass and does logic sequencing, drum programming and rhythm loops. 'On the Horn' is all instrumental except for track three, "I Want Your Love," of which Paul's smoldering lead is backed by himself and the gorgeous voice of Delona Simon. This track is awesome and essential. Funny, my only complaint with this cd is the title because the Music is so transcending that I would have chosen "Real Surreal" or "Exotica" as the title. In any case, I can't wait to hear 'Hypnotic.' A word of warning, just one of Paul's cds will probably not be enough. Soar to the beauty of life. Thank goodness for musicians like Paul!

Smooth and relaxing. Not a noise maker like his follow up CD. He shows some Keiko influence here. Nice. I like it.

I came to buy this album after it appeared in my recommendation list from Amazon. I'm a great fan of Richard Elliot and I found this album very reminiscent of his work. In places this album is a little more laid back than Richard's work but nonetheless very enjoyable. Comparisons aside I did feel Paul's performance had little nuances all of his own. Of course Paul has also been blessed with the talent of being able to add his voice to one of the tracks of the album and I'm trying to resist my antipathy of vocals when I say that I feel "I Want Your Love" doesn't, for me, quite fit in with the style of the album. It's a well produced track but seems like something more at home in the East Listening section of the record store. I wish these artists would stick to music, the vocals always seem to smother the reason we came to buy the album in the first place - talented playing. Having said that though I feel the mark of a good album is when its still playing in your head long after the cd has ended and Paul's playing certainly does that. It seems to have a inner fire that burns a mark on your soul - its what good jazz is all about! I really wish they wouldn't categorise these artists into the smooth jazz category, it seems to do them such an injustice when they have produced a work with such spirited playing. Irrespective of general taste, if your passionate about good sax playing you'll love this album. And yup Exoctica is definitely a goodie !!!

While possibly not as good as Pleasure Seekers, this 1st CD is a must for any Jazz connoisseur of smooth tunes and strong beats. Paul's writing style is unique in a gender crowded with only average abilities. His songs stay with you, full of emotion, melody and balance. I also highly recommend you see Paul in concert if you have the chance.

Paul Taylor is awesome! I first heard Erotica on the radio and went out and bought On The Horn that same day.
I've been a fan ever since and now have all his cd's! He has a distinctive quality with the sax and he has a
good voice too! His songs are sensual and some have a funky rhythm. He's awesome!

I absolutely love this cd! This is my 6th PT cd and like his other cds, it has everything a person could want in a smooth jazz cd.. a nice variety of songs... it's smooth, sexy and it grooves! Paul's vocals are an added bonus to his wonderful talent on the saxophone. Paul is definitely my favorite saxman!

This album is certainly his best work! I love this one and I also like his other CD's. Exotica and 'Til we meet again are my favorite songs in this CD. I can listen it again and again and never get tired of it. Check it out and you will like it too. Strongly recommended.
