Product Description

When a prominent drug dealer is murdered, Sergeant Acosta (Joey Marquez) and Federal agent Francis (Piolo Pascual) lead the investigation, but the trail goes immediately cold. What they discover is a conspiracy of massive scale: the killers (Joel Torre and Gerald Anderson) are inmates, temporarily released from jail as assassins before returning to incarceration.

First of all, I am a Filipino living here in the US for more than a decade now. I have lived in the Philippines and walked through the urban streets of Manila when I was a teenager. It is hard to explain the difference of the ghetto here in the Philippines. Manila, this is where cops and officials are very difficult to trust. As for the Philippine government, killing your enemy is just part of the game and it is the way of life. Totally different of how it is in the US.

Now, I usually don't like Filipino movies because of its cliché love stories and its corny action but this one is a must see! The quality of this movie is by far in my opinion, top notch-Pinoy flic.

This is a dark tale of corruption in the Filipino justice system along with the question of morality and integrity in every society. I really recommend this one for everyone who appreciates a great story and this movie is based on true events. And anyone who wants to try something new.

Sometime last year, I managed to finagle a copy of ELITE SQUAD 2: THE ENEMY WITHIN from a distributor by request, mostly because I had heard so many good things about the motion picture from online friends. In a nutshell, the story explores how institutional corruption builds as well as feeds on itself when it’s sanctioned by whatever form of government created and propagated it for general use; but what the film did uniquely well was show how that behemoth truly destroys the lives of those in and around the institution’s various agencies. Personally, I loved the film – as did many, many others – and it was probably the one piece of entertainment that received the highest number of recommendations from me to others looking for something worthwhile.

Well, 2014 is only off to a start, and I may’ve already found this year’s contender: a Filipino crime thriller called ON THE JOB. To me, it’s come out of nowhere – I’ve heard absolutely nothing about the flick. I just plucked it from the DVD player … and I’m honestly thinking I’ll throw it back in tomorrow. Yes, it’s that good.

(NOTE: The following review will contain minor spoilers necessary solely for the discussion of plot and/or characters. If you’re the type of reader who prefers a review entirely spoiler-free, then I’d encourage you to skip down to the last three paragraphs for my final assessment. If, however, you’re accepting of a few modest hints at ‘things to come,’ then read on …)

A prominent drug dealer is shot dead on the streets during a public celebration. The killers – Tatang (played with simmering fury by Joel Torre) and Danny (Gerald Anderson) – simply walk away and disappear into the crowd. A few blocks away, an SUV picks them up … and returns them to prison.

Very nice movie, a true to life depiction of present day corruption within the government and what's funny is? it is still happening at this very moment. Corruption is everywhere and is most common on third world countries.

To be honest I had really low expectations for this movie, as most Filipino action movies are mediocre at best. However this movie was done amazingly well, and the cast was amazing for this movie. The movie was beautifully shot, definitely on par with most Hollywood action movies. I highly recommend this to any Asian-movie enthusiasts or action movie fanatics in general.

I saw this film in Netflix and was very impressed with the story and cinematography. It is unlike traditional Filipino action films. The film has substance and well-directed.
