4.0 out of 5 stars great foot rest

I got this to try out the "proper" stance for playing guitar, and it has proven to be valuable for other uses as well. When sitting for long periods of time, it is advisable to shift one's position, and alternately raise one foot higher than the other. This works well for that, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Item...
Not designed real well! The hooking mechanism to hold the rest at a certain height is pretty poor. It can collapse fairly easy. Could have used some type of lock in place system. Also, it is small. In the picture it appears almost bechlike in size. It's actually about as big as your foot!

I got this to try out the "proper" stance for playing guitar, and it has proven to be valuable for other uses as well. When sitting for long periods of time, it is advisable to shift one's position, and alternately raise one foot higher than the other. This works well for that, too.

It is well constructed of fairly heavy steel, and designed to fold flat. When unfolded, a crossbar on one set of legs seats into notches cut into two flanges underneath, allowing the height to be adjusted. The notches are deep and the whole arrangement is quite stable and solid.

This is a very well done product - simple, well made, and solid. I would recommend it without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works wonderfully, great price, February 1, 2010
This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
I've been using this footstool for a month practicing classical guitar (2-3 hours a day, 30-45 minute sessions).

Since I started using it, my back is more relaxed and I haven't felt tension in my fretting hand or my left arm at all. (For two months or so before using the footstool I felt tension in my back and arm pretty quickly.)

I thought I could spend a little more money to get a good footstool, but I was convinced by the user reviews and I doubt I could have found a better one.

The footstool doesn't slide, it's adjustable to a wide variety of heights, and I'm not even aware of it while playing.

The foot rest adjusts easily to different heights. Construction is from heavy duty materials, making it very stable with a solid feel. Well worth the the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Foot Stool, September 1, 2010

This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
I've had many foot stools in the past and this one is by far is the best. It's easy to set up and put away, light enough to carry around in a backpack and it's very sturdy. The rubber top keeps your foot steady and it's not slippery at all. It does smell a little funky at first, but most rubber does. The smell fades fast, so it's really nothing to worry about. I highly recommend buying this item if you're looking for a good foot stool at a great price!

5.0 out of 5 stars FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest, May 26, 2009

I had never owned one of these before, or seen one. So, when it came time to look for one I really did not know what I was looking for.
The first thing I have learned is that the stand should be small enough to fold up and it should be made of strong enough material to hold up. This foot stand performs both of these tasks.
I was surprised how simple the construction was, and how much easier it made playing the guitar. The proper position of the guitar is important to create less strain on the shoulder, wrist and fingers while playing.
My main purpose for purchasing this was for my classical guitar playing. I can also see how this could be useful for playing acoustic guitar too, or any guitar that does not have a strap on it.
The height can be adjusted so that it is more comfortable for the seat you are using. I would recommend this product to anyone that is playing guitar and interested in posture and position of the body and guitar.

5.0 out of 5 stars No More Shoulder Pain!, September 27, 2010
This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
I broke my right shoulder in the early 80s and it became somewhat arthritic over time. Prolonged guitar practice was giving me tremendous arm pain (it actually felt like someone was taking a sledgehammer to my upper arm bone...the doctor said it was inflammation at the insertion point of tendon to muscle. I actually stopped playing for many months because of a frozen shoulder. During the downtime that I had to endure months of physical therapy to "unfreeze" my shoulder, I studied Jamie Andreas' Guitar Principles book. I made the connection that bad posture + upper body tension = shoulder pain!!! If you are prone to shoulder pain, then playing in the "classical position" forces your right shoulder down (assuming you're a right-handed picker) and your arm will be in a more relaxed position for playing. You'll still have to monitor your arms and shoulders for any tension that might slowly creep in, but holding the guitar in the classical position, with your left foot resting on a stool such as this one will allow you to practice in a more comfortable way. It took a while to get used to sitting like this (with the guitar between my legs) and yes, I had to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous comments from my family, but I wouldn't practice any other way now! I'm nowhere near being a virtuoso yet, and I may never achieve virtuosity in this lifetime. I'm just happy that I've found a comfortable way to practice the tunes I love. That's all that really matters anyway.

I definitely recommend this foot stool!!!

This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
This unit is really sturdy (I'm about 6' tall and weigh 170ish). Easy to adjust heights and has a rubber top and rubber bottoms to prevent skidding. Comes at a great low price too.

Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars great product, but difficult to collapse and reopen, March 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
This is a great foot rest. My only complaint is that it is REALLY hard to collapse and re-open. My hope is that with use it will loosen up because right now it always feels like I am going to beat my hands up getting it open and closed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and Comfortable Foot Rest, November 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
I am a casual classical guitar player. I've been wanting a foot rest for a while since I lost the last one. This foot rest allows you to adjust the height so you can comfortably rest your foot as you play the guitar. Also, it's sturdy and provides firm support. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars As advertised, December 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: On Stage FS7850B Guitar Foot Rest (Electronics)
Cheap. Sturdy. Five height positions. Flat when folded. Rubberized feet to prevent marring and slipping. Much easier than propping your foot on stacked books or chair rail or your cat. Makes you look like a pro even if you can't make the F chord. Would have rated 5 stars but can't bring myself to say "I love it" about a foot rest. Buy it.
