I'm not a big reader of romance, but this one does come with a legal twist in the tail, which makes it a bit more interesting.

The storyline is a fairly predictable one - when a man and woman have "meet cute" in a lingerie shop, it's not hard to guess where the story's going. It drags a little in places - there's a fine line between suspense and "Oh, get on with it!", and Gaddy oversteps the mark more than once. It's a fairly short story, well under 200 print pages, so managing to make it drag is some kind of achievement!

There are some dreadfully cliched or just plain dreadful bits of writing. One of my least favourites:

"The word steamrollered through Gabrielle's mind as a double load of cinder blocks fell on her chest."

Mixed metaphors and more than a little purple prose there! Gaddy also has the annoying habit of misusing the word literally... The writing would be much stronger if it didn't feel that the author was just trying too hard a lot of the time.

On the other hand there are also some nice moments, and her dialogue is generally sparky and realistic - the exchanges between Gabrielle and Devlin were the strongest part of the book for me. Their banter, flirtation and chemistry were ably portrayed, and they have a few genuinely funny moments which always adds to the realism of a relationship.

Avid readers of romance will probably enjoy this, but it's not about to win any awards for originality, and personally I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else unless it is offered for free again.

This book was a pretty comfortable little read. I've read stories with stronger plots and better metaphores and more detail, but what I liked about this book was that some of the in depth details that could have been there, like court scenes and mafia plot, didn't make the book too intense to enjoy for just my relaxing "mommy reading" time. The main characters had likeable personalities and meshed well together. The sensual chemistry between them was entertaining. All in all, this book is worth a read, if for nothing else than an enjoyable several hour retreat.

I'm a big category romance reader, and I don't know how I missed this book the first time around. So what a great surprise to discover it, along with Eve Gaddy, now. Well written, with interesting characters and a strong plot, I really enjoyed it! For those who love a good category romance, I highly recommend it.

Flows quickly, easy read, keeps interest. Romance is very hot between the two characters. Interesting twist that keeps you longing for more.
