Unfortunately, Amazon has used info from two different Onguard U-locks, the Standard 8010 and the Standard 8010 LM. The difference is the "U" part of the LM is thinner, making the lock lighter. To disguise this tradeoff of ease of use versus strength, the rubber sleeve on the "U" is thicker to keep it 13 mm overall (the thickness of the metal on the regular Bulldog ulock). You can see the LM model in the Customer pictures. The Amazon picture is actually a mini-ulock model.

The nice thing about either Bulldog 8010/8010LM is its in-between size (4.5" width). Just wide enough to fit around the new cement reinforced street signs in front of some stores, but potentially small enough to still mount on your bike.

I gave it 4 stars because it seems like the U frame and the locking mechanism fit a bit loosely, but the lock still locks strong. This lock comes with 5 keys, which is great if you ever lose one. The mount was easy to attach and can be attached in many different positions. The lock is a bit heavy, but I only require it for when I'm running errands, I keep it off when I'm fitness riding. The rubber coating on the lock keeps my bike from getting scratched which is a great feature. If you register with the company and purchase for 1, 10, or 15 dollars they company will reimburse you the full cost of your bike if it is stolen for up to 1, 2, or 3 years, 3 years costing 15 dollars. This company really stands by their products. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a quality lock that is easily mounted to your frame and doesn't jiggle or bounce when riding in the city.

For the price, it is ok. This thing will secure your bike and probably hold up better than something you buy at WalMart against leverage attacks and cutting. It was also just the size I wanted which allows it to go through the frame, wheel and still have room to fit around whatever is available around the city. My Kryptonite Series 2 was just a little too small.

What annoys me is that it is frequently tricky just to get it to lock. The Krypto locked way more easily. This takes some pushing, removing, jiggling of the key, etc. On that note, I really wish they'd just include 2 or 3 high quality keys as opposed to 5 low quality keys. They just feel really cheap and some actually seem to open the lock more quickly and easily than others. I haven't tried the mount, so I can't comment on that.

This lock is fairly cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. I might just keep it around as a spare and invest in another Kryptonite.

This lock, the 8010LM, looks a lot like the 8010, but has a smaller locking bracket and has a thinner interior metal core in the U. The lock has thicker rubber than the 8010 so looks pretty similar. This lock is lighter than the 8010, but would presumably be easier to cut.

The lock is solid and seems to do its job well (bike hasn't been stolen yet).

Good stuff:
The device for attaching it to the bike frame for storage screws together on the frame, giving me more confidence in its stability than the nylon strap version on my husband's, otherwise similar, Kryptonite lock.
Its size is big enough to fit through my tire, around my frame, and around a bike rack.

Bad stuff:
The locking mechanism is very finicky. It took some time to practice with it to make the key engage the lock. I think my biggest problem was that I was trying to push the pieces together to make the key fit, when what I needed to do was pull the pieces apart.

Bought this because it was light weight. A couple weeks after mounting noticed the lock would rotate in the holder away from center due to bumps and gravity - quite annoying, have to constantly readjust it. Then a couple months in the holder snapped and the lock fell to the ground on a relaxed ride on a decent road. Now I have to carry the lock in my bag and to top it off the drop caused the lock itself to start jamming - if you don't insert the U shape just right, the key won't turn.
I realize it's a cheap lock, but the holder is identical to more expensive models from OnGuard and if it can't even retain the lightweight version, I can't help but recommend to stay away from the brand. It seems the U-locks from the leading companies are getting heavier and heavier and I just want the deterrent of a metal bracket, whether or not it will actually stand up to a bolt cutter. Unfortunately this model seems to only exist as a cost-cutting measure - and the results are unsurprising.

This lock seems sturdy enough but I can't fathom how DIFFICULT it is to lock. Some days I'll spend 5 full minutes just getting the $&%! key to turn. It seems like it must be held at exactly a certain angle (which changes), and with no pressure on any part, even mild. Who's got the patience for that? I've used it maybe 40 times and neither the lock nor the key has ever been exposed to bad weather or excess heat or cold. Shopping for another. Hate this one.

Fits well on the bike, easily installed, large enough to loop frame and back wheel, and front wheel if I want to take it off. Came with plenty of extra keys, which is good, because I know I am going to lose at least one.

This lock has held up well for a year now. I live in a big city, and keeping my bike safe and secure is a top priority since I use it as my main means of transportation to and from places. It's been rained on a few times and hasn't rusted noticeably. The special key with a flashlight is very useful for locking/unlocking at night, too! Would definitely recommend and buy again (but probably won't need to because it holds up so well!).
