I wanted a combination U-Lock for the obvious reasons - I am a person who will easily lose a key. A combination U-Lock solves this problem. I found it pretty easy to set my combination following the instructions, and the lock itself is very durable. I have never had any issues with this lock using my bike all around the city. There are some problems with this U-Lock, however. The combination window for the spinning numbers is very small. This makes it pretty difficult to spin the numbers with ease, making the whole "combination lock" feature more cumbersome than it needs to be. It is certainly a problem that one can deal with, and I find I use the grooved notches in the numbers to spin them, but it is still a pretty annoying issue. The second is the mounting hardware. I found it utterly useless. The mounting hardware is basically a strap that attaches to your bike. You pull the strap tight and it's supposed to stay on. I followed all of the instructions, but it was still coming loose when I would slide the U-Lock into place. I finally gave in, went to Hudson Trail Outfitters, and asked if they could mount it for me. They were also unable to get the mounting clip to stay. Seriously? I was lucky - HTO just gave me another mounting clip (for free!) and made sure it stayed on my bike. But if you aren't so lucky, be aware that this may be an issue. Overall, the sturdiness of the U-Lock combined with the "set-it-and-go" combination feature was enough to make me keep this lock, but you might want to go for a different one if the above problems concern you.

This lock is perfect for city living. It works great and suits our needs perfectly. The cover that slides over the combo is not waterproof and does not keep all the elements out, its probably only there as a deterant. We use the cable to the front wheel, through the seat post and back to the lock for a complete secure connection. Also who could beat the warrenty I think it is 1,500$ on the lock!

It works well, after a while (months) the gears start gripping, I had to add graphite powder to get it back.
