Okay, this is just my personal opinion, so calm down girls. I just don't understand all the gushing...this book was really boring, trite, and contrived. I won't outline the book as many descriptions are already posted all over this review page.

What I found most dissatisfying about the book were the heroes. I mean, they were just so perfect: great looking, great...

5.0 out of 5 stars Revisit with Sawyer and Morgan Again, June 8, 2002
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
The stories of the Buckhorn Brothers, the popular series by Lori Foster from 2000, is being reprinted in advance of the release of the much-anticipated sequel, Casey Hudson's story, called simply CASEY (currently due out in December 2002). First released is ONCE AND AGAIN: SAWYER/ MORGAN and in September will be the release of FOREVER AND ALWAYS: GABE/JORDAN.
When the Buckhorn series first came out, I snapped them up and devoured each story. I hated to see them end because they were superbly written. Lori Foster knows how to pen stories about men that are hunks and good-hearted. The Buckhorn Brothers are no exception.

First up is SAWYER Hudson: He is the eldest brother, the doctor and the patriarch of the family. Honey Malone enters his life with a splash...literally and Sawyer is immediately attracted to her. She has a secret, and Sawyer is determined to find out what it is and if possible, to help her and ends up falling in love with her. Being the head of his family and a responsible man that he is, he is not sure he can promise a future for them as a couple. Ah, but love prevails. :)
In SAWYER you meet the rest of the brothers (plus Casey) and the other citizens of Buckhorn County. In some ways, SAWYER seems too short and would have been fabulous as a longer book, but a great start to the series.

MORGAN Hudson is up next. He is the Sheriff of Buckhorn County and looks like the biggest and meanest man you will ever meet. But under his gruff exterior he is a sweetheart, especially when it comes to family and friends. Misty Malone now qualifies, as his brother Sawyer married her sister, and like her sister, came to Buckhorn County with a secret. Morgan finds out and instead of turning him off, he finds it attracts him. Misty was at first a little intimidated by Morgan, but she knows how to stand up for herself and does very well against Morgan. Unknown to Morgan, he has met his match and the love of his life. It was fun watching the big, bad Morgan fall in love and finally admit he could not live without Misty.

If you have not read their stories before, then you are in for a treat and very lucky. First of all, you get Sawyer and Morgan in one volume (later to be followed by Gabe and Jordan). Secondly, the cover for ONCE AND AGAIN is much better than the original covers. Buy both of the reissued covers, and they match when you put them together. I have never seen that before and I love the idea.

All of the stories are very warm, humorous, sensual and leave you feeling good, just like many of Ms. Foster's stories. If you have not read the Buckhorn Brother's stories before, or would like to revisit them with the new, matching covers pick up ONCE AND AGAIN: Sawyer/Morgan. I recommend the whole Buckhorn Series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once and Again, July 3, 2002

This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
Once and Again is the re-release of Sawyer and Morgan from Lori
Foster's popular Buckhorn series.
I am so glad that Harlequin has decided to re-issue the series before Casey's story comes out in December. It not only gives us a chance to re-visit with them, but fall in love with them all over again.

Sawyer Hudson, is the town doctor and the father of a teenager. He rescues Honey when she crashes her car into the lake near their house.
Honey Malone is on the run and doesn't want to bring her troubles on Sawyer and his three brothers. But Sawyer is every bit as stubborn as Honey.

In Morgan, Honey's sister Misty, comes to visit her sister's new husband and finds herself being drawn to her sister's new brother-in-law. Morgan is the town sheriff and he is going to find out what is Misty's secret.

It is fun to watch Honey and Misty's reaction to all the testesterone running around Buckhorn, Kentucky. These guys are
everything that a woman dreams of when they think of the perfect guy. Of course there is no Buckhorn, Kentucky which may be a good thing, otherwise droves of Lori Foster fans would be making a trip.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love that family of boys., June 23, 2003

This two part book about Sawyer and Morgan is great.

I was completely enthralled in the goings on of Sawyer and Honey. The story was passionate, heartwarming, and kept me reading.

I love that the characters are always so emotionally flawed like everyone in this world. You literally rally for them to get it together and get to the bed.

As for Morgan and Misty, I found it very tender that Morgan could be so accepting.

Of course I am addicted to all of Lori Fosters works and read them like there going out of style. But if you love romance and sex you'll love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Foster has written another keeper., June 23, 2002

I'm excited about this book because it has two of the four Buckhorn brothers in it. I love this series because there are four brothers, each different in temperament as well as looks. They each have a different path in life that suits them but each one has great qualities that are very much a like. They all have a strong sense of family and a gentleness that makes them the very best of heroes.

Sawyer is a small town doctor with a teenage son. Honey is sick and running scared. She's afraid to trust anyone, until she meets the Buckhorn brothers. It was so exciting to read how Honey reacts to the brothers and especially Sawyer.

Morgan is the small town sheriff full of attitude. Misty has a few problems of her own when she comes to town for Honey's wedding. Boy was it exciting and funny to read how Morgan's attitude played with Misty. Misty like Honey wasn't familiar with a loving and generous family. Leave it to the Buckhorn brothers to embrace both sisters and show them what real men can be like.

These stories are full of fun and sensual romance just like all of Mrs. Foster's books. I know you will want to read all the brother's stories so you too can try to pick a favorite brother. Gabe and Jordan will appear in `Forever & Always' in September.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful romance!, June 14, 2002
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
The stories of Sawyer and Morgan Hudson are some of the best romances I have ever read. The heroes are strong, passionate and compassionate, and the heroines have spunk. Both volumes have a bit of mystery, angst, humor and of course heat! Sawyer the doctor and Morgan the sheriff fall hard and fast for those likeable sisters, who are as different as they can be. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Buckhorn brothers!, June 10, 2002
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
If you didn't have the chance to read about Gabe (my personal favorite brother) Sawyer, Jordan, and Morgan (another great guy) then this is your chance. Lori Foster creates a wonderful family with these brothers. Not only are the stories highly sensual and sexy, but they are just good all around reads. The next two brothers come out in August. I'm not going to give much away here, but the stories are so much more than romance. They are filled with family, laughter, quirkiness, and love. Lori Foster has been one of my favorite authors for several years and with the Buckhorn brothers, she proves once again why she is so popular with romance readers. So, like I said, if you haven't had the chance to read about the Buckhorn brothers, pick these books up as soon as possible. You won't regret it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huh?, June 21, 2002

Okay, this is just my personal opinion, so calm down girls. I just don't understand all the gushing...this book was really boring, trite, and contrived. I won't outline the book as many descriptions are already posted all over this review page.

What I found most dissatisfying about the book were the heroes. I mean, they were just so perfect: great looking, great house (which the brothers all lived in together), they cook and clean, do the laundry, blah, blah, blah. The heroines were just annoying. There was no real story, only page-fillers to show what great guys these brothers were. The first Lori Foster book that I ever read was TOO MUCH TEMPTATION and I really liked it. Unfortunately, all the books she wrote before TMT (this book is a reissue and written a couple of years before TMT) are lukewarm with weak plots and character development. I guess since I started with TMT, I expect all her books to be...well...HOT! This book lacks even that as I didn't really care about any of the characters.

To give you some idea of my taste to compare to your own so that you can see whether or not my review is reliable to you, I will list recent romance novels that I have read and enjoyed:

*Dying to Please - Linda Howard
*Lady Sophia's Lover - Lisa Kleypas
*Fast Women - Jennifer Crusie
*Beyond Seduction - Emma Holly (wear asbestos gloves while reading this one!)

2.0 out of 5 stars Im in the minority here, but I have to speak up., July 30, 2002
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
(First of all this review is for Sawyer's story only. By the time I finished the first book, I felt so relieved that I haven't been able to bring myself to pick up Morgan's story yet.)

OK, I really enjoyed Lori Foster's Winston brothers' series. So I automatically grabbed this book anxious to learn about a new "Foster Family". Sure the brothers are smart, sexy, and sensitive and seem fun to be around, but the female in this book made me ill. Honey shows up out of the blue, and 2 days after waking up from a concussion & bronchitis she is telling the teenager to put on sunscreen AND automatically assumes control of the kitchen. If I had found myself in a strangers' home, ill and supposedly frightened for my life, the LAST thing that I would be doing is cooking meals and lecturing the people who have been nice enough to take me into their home. This is a woman who has been dominated by both her father and her ex-boyfriend and so it is not as if assertiveness with men has been in her nature. Sure if some sexy doctor plucked me from certain death, takes me into his fantastic home and wants to make passionate love to me, I am there; but not with his curious teenager and 3 other brothers watching every move.

This one was a HUGE disappointment to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read!, July 3, 2002
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
I have recently discovered Lori Foster's books. I must say, I really like her style. I've read a lot of romances over the years but there are few authors who can give us a terrific romance and at the same time show us a positive family situation where humor, warmth, and caring play such a large part in the story. I really enjoyed Once and Again. The guys were terrific, heroines sympathetic, and the book was well worth my time. Lori's an author I actively look for now, and I am looking forward to her future releases! If you decide to give her books a try, I think you'll really like them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lori Foster does it Once and Again...., July 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Once And Again (Paperback)
My review may be biased because I tend to LOVE everything that Lori Foster writes, but I just find her characters so likable and real. This book contains the fist two stories in the Buckhorn Brother series, Sawyer and Morgan. I have to say that when I started reading Sawyer and Foster introduced his younger brother, Morgan, I could NOT wait to read his story. Both are fun reads that I go to about every 3 months or so. I just can't get enough!
