Book Description

This time, he plans to do it with class. Style. And more than a little groveling…

Petal, Georgia, Book 1

Seven years ago, Lily Travis was only too glad to see her hometown of Petal, Georgia, in her rearview mirror. Thanks to her father running off with a twenty-year-old, though, here she is, trying to pick up the pieces. First order of business: meet with her brother’s teacher in a quest to pull his grades out of a downward spiral.

Nathan Murphy is pretty much resigned to his bachelor status—until he looks up from his desk to see an all-grown-up Lily walking into his classroom. Of all the women who turned out to be totally wrong for him, she’s the only one who felt right. At least until his foolish, immature mistake drove her away.

Lily has to admit that time has been more than kind to gorgeous, sexy Nathan. Except there’s no room on her full plate for another complication. Especially with a man who broke her heart once before.

With a little help from his friends, Nathan has a plan to rekindle the flame. It isn’t long before they’re burning up the sheets. Winning her heart? That’s another matter.

Warning: Hot, sexy high school teacher in denim and boots. Strong-willed females abound. Bad words and naughtiness, too. Come on, you know you want to read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good book August 31, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a huge fan of the Chase brothers so it was great to keep reading about the town of Petal. I really liked Lilly's story with her family and trying to help her brother finish school. It took up most of the book. There was not a lot about Nathan except that he messed up with Lilly years ago. It barely told parts of his childhood, if it wasn't for the fact that I read all the Chase books I wouldn't know anything about him. It seemed every scene he was in was just about him trying to get Lilly and what she does to him, as to where Lilly's character was really emotional with family, friends and the past. It seemed a little one sided. But it was great to hear about where all the Chase brother were in life. You kinda had to guess how many years later it was. I would recommend to read this book but if you haven't read the Chase brothers reading them first will give you more background, plus they are great books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK September 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I was excited when I saw this because Lauren Dane is always on my MUST have auto purchase list. I normally give her books 5 stars.
I loved the Chase brothers and was excited about this book.
DO NOT try this if you have not read the previous books, it will be character overload trying to keep up.
I liked Lily but I never felt like her character was fully developed, it was like there was too much going on due to the other people in the book and catching up with them and we never fully got her story. The end was abrupt, and I was a bit disapointed.
It was great catching up with everyone, however it almost felt like this book was trying to do so many things that it didn't really focus on the love interest. There was story groundwork for them and then her family problems (which were too numerous to list) then there was all the 4 couples from previous stories, plus people that were ancillary to those stories, and it just felt like there was too much to put in too short a story. I had been so excited when I saw 385 pages, and then had it end approx 30 pages short of that for previews for other books - GRRRRRRR hate that pet peeve.

I would purchase this book if you loved the Chase Bros, but would probably not read as stand alone or if you are not interested in following them. There was not a lot of detail with them, but you know how many kids Matt had, that is about it.

The story had lots of potential, but I just did not feel it got anywhere in particular.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my fave.. November 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I hope the other Petal Georgia books will be better. This wasn't Ms. Dane's best book. It didn't have all the characters we love from the Chase series. It really didn't have the whole town aspect either. The main characters were kinda..blah. Basically she comes home from a long absence to take care of her younger brother, he is a teacher at her younger brother's school. They used to date a long long long time ago in college, he screwed up, she dumped him. Now he wants her back..steamy sex ensues, and ta-da! HEA for them.

More About the Author

The story goes like this - While on pregnancy bed rest, Lauren Dane had plenty of down time so her husband took her comments about "giving that writing thing a serious go" to heart and brought home a secondhand laptop. She wrote her first book on it before it gave up the ghost. Even better, she sold that book and never looked back.

Today Lauren is a New York Times bestselling author of over fifty novels and novellas across several genres.
