Drawing upon a wealth of musical and personal experiences and influences, Joyce, Diehm and longtime bassist Peter J. Gorritz weave a tapestry that encompasses all of the colors of the human condition. It is music that seeks to soothe the heart and soul as much as it seeks to galvanize the body and spirit. Music that is as timely as it is timeless; rooted firmly in both the past and present of alternative rock yet always looking forward to being part of its future. In short it is everything its creators have been, are, or could ever hope to be.
From the excitement of the first notes echoing across the warehouse that served as the bands initial practice space to the tragic and untimely death in 2002 of drummer and close friend Ivan Dominguez, every triumph and tragedy that has accompanied TLD on their musical journey has played a key role in shaping both the sound and personality of the band and its members.
Starting in 1991with their first cassette demo and continuing this year with their latest full-length CD "Once Beautiful", the journey has taken TLD from behind the "orange" curtain of Southern California to the remnants of the iron curtain of Eastern Europe. It has taken them across the entire United States, to Latin America, and will soon take them to many other parts of the world. As the journey continues, the sound and the band will continue to change and evolve, adding more colors to the rich sonic tapestry with each new step. But, as is true with any journey or work of art, it is one thing to describe it, another thing entirely to experience it

Darkly Passionate, Haunting and Beautiful,

I am not normally in habit of giving anything a review however, this masterpiece CD deserves a 100 star rating and more. I am 45 years old (a very young 45) and musick has become such a disaster these days that I never thought I would encounter anything to make me stop and listen again until I saw The Last Dance on July 1st at Bar Sinister in Hollywood, California. I purchased the CD immediately. It's possibly, to date, the best money I have ever spent on musick. I will continue to be a devout follower of this group.

Once Beautiful by The Last Dance,
By Ophelia "Ophelia" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Once Beautiful (Audio CD)
The music is brilliant and full of passionate overtones. I highly recommend this CD for anyone into the goth/industrial genre. Every song on this CD is well worth buying it. The band blends so well together, the music, the lyrics, all flowing together to bring an end result of wonderful music.

A beautiful male vocalist.
Traditional Goth music: perfect for those who are Elder Goths or who can appreciate Goth music of before... I purchased my disc last week and it has not left my CD player in my car. Do I need to say anything else? Buy it.
