5.0 out of 5 stars three fine Yuletide tales, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Once Upon A Christmas (Zebra Contemporary Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Mistletoe and Holly". When her boyfriend Brad dumps her because she never does anything spontaneous, accountant Holly thinks he will come to his senses. Meanwhile her best friend arranges for her to share a room in Saguaro Vista with her cousin English Professor Sam as both are visiting for the holidays. Sparks fly between them that could light up all the Christmas trees in the country.

"Christmas Honeymoon". Stacy is upset that her cousin Janie dumped an all expense paid Vegas honeymoon on her, a wedding present from Aunt Gertrude, while the newlyweds sneak off to the Bahamas. The groom Richard has sent his friend Dylan to the same suite at the Atmosphere Hotel. Dylan plans to not screw up this time as he wants his beloved ex-wife back with him forever.

"A Baby for Christmas". For three years Chloe has secretly loved her neighbor and best friend Nick. So when the inventor gets drunk to forget his woes, she takes him home. They sleep together, but he forgets in the morning that they did. Hurt and disappointed Chloe hides the truth even when she realizes she is carrying his baby.

These three Yuletide tales are enjoyable contemporary romances that star wonderful lead protagonists struggling with love once decisions are made that go contrary to forging permanent relationships. Lisa Plumley gifts her fans with early Christmas presents.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Holiday Anthology!, October 16, 2005
This review is from: Once Upon A Christmas (Zebra Contemporary Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Plumley has penned a series of short stories in this holiday read. She has combined humor, angst, and holiday cheer into a pleasant read.

"Mistletoe and Holly" is a story of Holly Aldridge. She is an accountant, who is a work-a-holic with a total lack of spontaneity. She is totally shocked when her boyfriend Brad breaks things off stating that he needs his space. She plans to win this guy back despite the odds. First plan of attack, make Brad the Bad jealous. Enter our hero Sam. Sam falls fast and furious for Holly. May have plan to win back Brad, but Sam, has plans on winning Holly. Will Holly finally wake up to find that her love is right in front of her face, and it isn't Brad?

"Christmas Honeymoon" is a quirky story about a second chance at finding love with the one person you already had a chance with. Stacy Ames agrees to take her cousin's place in the honeymoon suit in Las Vegas, while Janie goes to the Bahamas with her husband. Stacy has no idea that the one man to have truly broken her heart is going to help her with the charade of a happily married couple. When Dylan shows up with a dog no less Stacy has no idea what to expect, but she is going to hold strong despite the fact that Dylan's kisses make her forget what her plans are. Will these two find a happy ending?

"A Baby For Christmas" is the story of Chloe Carmichael. She has always had a secret crush on hunky Nick. Imagine her surprise when she attempts to console him and it turns hot and heavy! Oh, and Nick doesn't remember it the next day thanks to some Kahlua and Coffee, and Chloe is now going to have his baby. Will these two find a happy Christmas and a happy ending?

These were good stories. I admit that the first story was my least favorite as our heroine spent more than half the book trying to reconcile with a total loser. Sam on the other hand was patient (almost too much to my way of thinking) and stuck it out waiting for her to get her act together. Otherwise this was a pleasant holiday read and one that will entertain readers.
