5.0 out of 5 stars True Hardcore Rap, Smoothe defines an MC
If you claim to be a true hip hop head and don't own this album go cop it now.Tracks such as Broken Language and My Brother My Ace, will give you neck pains. It makes me wonder what is happening to the rap industry? Why haven't we heard anything else from this gifted lyricist, yet wack MC's are putting out albums weekly. If you like this album also check out Enta Da Stage...

Smoothe if you're out there hit us over the head with something soon, and save us from this commercialzed rap industry.

This guy is the most talented MC that the rap world has ever known. This album is perfect from the beginning to the end, nobody has done something like that before and after him, trust me... I'll never give 5 stars to other albums. Please Smoothe come back on the scene with your crew, this is the only way to save hip hop. Brownsville rulez!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LIKE THIS FOR THE RAWNESS OF IT, March 5, 2007
This review is from: Once Upon a Time in America (Audio CD)
for me, i dig this joint for the overall rawness of it. i prefer the ones without the singers when he is on that MOP type of thing, which thankfully fills out most of this album. at a time where bad boy like stuff was infiltrating the radio stations, this was, and nowadays, is EVEN MORE, wonderfully refreshing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lyricism for the realism- Once upon a time..., May 11, 1999

The Ruckus Next Level Click is representing to the fullest with the debut from Smoothe Da Hustler. The whole LP is bangin and gots everything in it. Cuts like Broken Language and My Brother My Ace, feature Smoothe and Trigga goin toe up with lyrical battles and tracks like Only Human and Neva Die Alone deal with life in general. I got this album right when it came out and now I'm still playin it constantly. It sits right in my rotation with Enter the 36 Chambers, Tical, The Coming, and Illmatic. Peace.

Smoothe is a definite lyricist with outstanding potential. Tracks such as "Broken Language", "My Brother my Ace", and "Fuck Whatcha Heard", will definiely keep your heads nodding. This album also comes with 'thinking tracks like "Food for Thoughts", and "Only Human." There are some minuses such as "Neva Die Alone",and the "Freddy's Dead" sampled "Hustlers Theme." Other than that, along with the catchy "Glocks on Cock", and the chilled out" Dedication", this is an album for all true hip-hoppers to have in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars U want that Real Hardcore NY Hip Hop Huh?? Listen to this one Son!, November 23, 2009
This review is from: Once Upon a Time in America (Audio CD)
I dont even know where to start, but when I remember back in early 96' when I heard "Broken Language" .. I was buggin out as a Kid. I kept sayin "OMG, what's this??, What's this??" "Who is this on the Radio?" Then I didnt find out until weeks later that it was

Smooth the Hustler ft. Trigger tha Gambler. I ran to my cousins house a month later and sure enough he had it. I bump this song over and over because of the wordplay. Also what I call the Back n Forth Flow. A lyrical mutilation.

This Album was Hardcore, just like M.O.P asked you if you how about some hardcore. Smooth tha Hustler and his right hand man, Trigger tha Gambler gave it to you.

Dont question anything JUST BUY IT! On CD yes, and MP3. U need to have this in your possession. Dont even think about it just pick it up. Promise if you like real hardcore back in the day REAL New York Hiphop this CD is it.
