Amazing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Once Upon a Night (Audio CD)
I don't usually buy physical albums. In fact, this is going to be the first album I've bought in roughly 10 years. Volume 2 was the second. Volume 3 (there isn't one as of this writing) will probably be the third. Ferry has done something really special with his 2010 mixes. Playing both CDs of this album back to back gets you nearly 2 and a half hours hours of music that's solid and beautiful pretty much all the way through. The tracks rarely ever get bogged down with cheesy vocals, long boring sections, corny samples, or dramatically sudden shifts in mood, all of which I feel are problems that are inherent to the trance genre. The music is layered, lush, and warm, yet it never loses it's sharp bite. The beats tend to be more interesting and full than your typical slamming metronome trance kicks. I'm not even sure if you could call it trance specifically, but who needs genres anyway? Most importantly, it makes you feel good. Corsten has stated that many of the original tracks in his 2010 mixes are from Russia, and it shows, because these albums are a breath of fresh air for a stale genre that up until now has mostly been dominated by Western Europe (no offense guys!)
I've been listening to this album as well as Volume 2 for about a month now, nearly every day, and I only appreciate them more as the days go by. I finally decided to go ahead and get physical copies in support of the artist(s) responsible for this music, and to hopefully encourage Ferry to continue mixing music of this caliber in years to come. It's more mature, lush, and re-listenable than any other electonica I've ever heard, let alone trance.

I never write reviews,
This review is from: Once Upon a Night (Audio CD)
This Cd is excellent. I am very picky when it comes to trance music. On another note, I am very lazy and for me to write a review it must be really good. I like this cd 1000x more than twice in a blue moon. The way he transitions into the song is excellent. He does not drag out the beats too long and not too short either. There will be some people who will not agree and some that will. There is a great amount of variety.

Now I remember why I love Trance music so much,

Once I started listening to this CD I could not stop for DAYS! Man I totally had flashbacks of my younger, more energetic days at the clubs where we'd dance for HOURS at a time to Trance beats! And completely drug-free too! Now I'm 36 and a toddler-daddy it's been all about New Age music and nursery rhymes, but for 3 days after I got this album I've been reliving my youth a little, LOL!
ALL the tracks were great! At least in my mind :) But if I *had* to choose, my favorite tracks would be: Yuri Kane - Right Back (Original mix) Yuri Kane - Around You (Original mix) Tritonal Feat Christina Soto - Forgive Me Forget You (Ashley Wallbridge Remix) The Airstatic - Worldwide (Anton Firtich Remix) Bt - The Unbreakable (Breakfast Remix) I like how they include the individual tracks and then add the mixed version as well, very considerate of them. Take it from an aging raver... this album is a must-own for lovers of the genre!
