This a well-written book (interestingly) written by Anita's daughter, not Anita herself. This speaks in volume to Anita's character, whether out of respect and loyalty to her late husband or to Elvis. It is obvious that Elvis felt a deeper love and connection towards Anita than Priscilla. The photos taken of Anita and Elvis reflect it, as opposed to 98% (excluding those taken surrounding Lisa Marie) where Elvis is never seen displaying any sincere romantic affection towards Priscilla, and Priscilla herself is totally self-absorbed with her own relationship with the camera. It is obvious and so sad that after Gladys died Elvis was "lost at sea" in the ocean of love, and allowed his loneliness to cloud his judgement in situations with girls he met. Hence once he dated 14-year-old Priscilla (and stepdaughter of military parent), his future was pretty much mapped out for him. I think he probably thought and wished once back in America, Priscilla and family would cease and desist ( no letters to Priscilla during that time from Elvis compared to 3 emotionally loaded and laced with promises even after having "dated" Priscilla) to Anita. Elvis had to marry Priscilla and in spite how much he hurt or his ego when she left him, what he felt for Anita was more true to real love than the obligation he had towards Priscilla no matter how beautiful. Elvis searched for him feeling truly in love and the Priscilla issue never allowed him to explore it further and freely when he met someone who he felt a connection with ( Anita Wood, Ann-Margret). I think his marriage to Priscilla would have been shorter lived and he would have been the one to walk out had not Lisa Marie come around as soon as she did. This book shows Elvis' desperation at times, regrets for having lost Anita, and overall like so many other books, his desperate search for his soul mate which in my opinion he never had the chance to find.

Anita Wood, called "Little" by Elvis, is well loved and respected by Elvis fans. This is the wonderful story of their romance, beautifully written by her daughter, as Anita told it. Having read hundreds of Elvis books, this is one I'll cherish. You can feel the love and magic as you turn each page. Included are some great personal photos and letters. Oh, if only they were mine!
This is a great read.

I've not read the whole thing YET! I just got it, but what I have read is quite interesting! I think she would have been a better person for Elvis than who he did marry!
My opinion ONLY!

No doubt about it, SHE was the right one for Elvis!!! Thoroughly enjoyed reading her book, especially with it written by her lovely daughter. Full of photos, many I hadn't seen before, so that was a treat. Read through the wonderful love story her and Elvis shared. It was special, endearing, innocent, but full of love for one another.

Only problem I had was wondering WHY didn't she dig her heels in to stay with Elvis. Wish she'd realized a 16 year old teen was NO competition for her. She had it all! I honestly feel Elvis knew that all the time.

I have read many Elvis Books, this flows with all of them. I know some people connected to Elvis.
I believe these are true accounts and comes from Anita's heart.

This is a truthful, biographical account of the life of Anita Wood, Elvis' girlfriend, during the period of 1957-1962, written by Ms. Wood's daughter. The period covered Anita Wood's romance with the original American idol, Elvis Presley. I followed the news stories about Elvis and Anita Wood during this period through news articles in Memphis' COMMERCIAL APPEAL and the MEMPHIS PRESS-SCIMITAR. The Elvis and Anita story is an honest account of two talented celebrities' love for each other. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their fragile relationship. It would have been interesting to include some information about Anita Wood [Brewer]'s current life, which was omitted. This is an excellent read for the millions of Elvis fans around the world.

Being a huge Elvis fan I couldn't put this down, finished it in 2 days. It was so great to read about his time with this great lady. What a shame it didn't work out, he would've been so much better off for it, in my opinion. Highly recommend this.
