More About the Author

M Todd Gallowglas is a professional storyteller (like on a stage with a show in front of real people) and the bestselling author of the Tears of Rage and Halloween Jack series.

As a child, Todd wished that he could be a left-handed red head, because he thought they were the most special and different people in the world. Because he was a brown-haired righty, life had forced him to create his own path to being special and different by making up stories of fantastical worlds of adventure. He even believed in these worlds so completely, that several of his teachers questioned whether he knew the difference between fantasy and reality. The jury is still out.

He wrote his first fantasy story for a creative writing assignment in the third grade. Ever since, he's loved spinning tales that take the reader off to the far future or away mystical worlds. High school was a convenient quiet place to hone the craft of writing adventure stories...while he should have been paying attention in class. Todd received a BA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. Throughout his time in at SFSU, several teachers tried to steer him away from writing that nasty "genre" stuff. However, they underestimated just how much Todd's brain is hard-wired for telling tales of the magical and fantastic, and their efforts to turn him to literary fiction came to nothing.

After graduating, Todd returned to his career as professional storyteller at Renaissance faires and Celtic festivals. His first professional sale was to Fantasy Flight Games, and he has a run of stories for their Call of Chthulu game line. His story "The Half-Faced Man" received an honorable mention from the Writers of the Future contest. Embracing the paradigm changes sweeping through the publishing industry, M Todd Gallowglas used his storytelling show as a platform to launch his self-published writing career. Nearly all of his eBooks have been Amazon bestsellers, and First Chosen spent most of 2012 on Amazon's Dark Fantasy and Fantasy Series lists.

He currently lives with his wife, three children, more pets than they need, and enough imaginary friends to provide playmates for several crowded kindergarten classes. He is currently corrupting his children by raising them with a rich education of geek culture. And still, as busy as he is, he manages to squeeze in time for some old-school table top gaming and airsoft battles on the weekends (because it's not as messy as paintball). Shiny!

Mr. Gallowglas turns everything up a notch in this second entry to his Celtic-feeling fantasy series. The world he has created is rich and vibrant, featuring: tricky gods, warring factions who all increasingly hate one another, ancient history that feels alive, and truly engaging characters that draw you straight into his narrative without letting go until the end.

Being that I am currently writing a `Book 2' of my own, I entirely understand the difficulty involved in that process. One has to pull threads through from the first entry, while raising the stakes and expanding the scope but without sacrificing the feeling that made the first one connect with readers. It's not just about continuing the narrative, it's about extending the feelings you forged in Book 1 while simultaneously making everything grander.

I believe that Mr. Gallowglas succeeded on every point. We see our main characters begin to grow into the roles they have been forced into, the story introduces new twists and turns driving us toward the final conclusion while being immersed in frenetic action. Most of the second half of the book is a rocket-powered ride of genuinely enjoyable action, filled with imagery that's still stuck in my head, slowing down just barely enough so that you don't break your neck when you arrive at the end.

M. Todd Gallowglas is a writer to watch. Speaking as an author myself, his rich storytelling, excellent characterization and frankly amazing world-building makes him the kind of author that I would love to have a chance to collaborate with.

Just got done reading the second book in the "Tears of Rage" series, and it truly holds up to the first. Mr. Gallowglas continues the fantastic, beautiful, and terrifying world he has created drawing your connection with the characters from the first book even deeper, while making you latch onto and love the new ones as well. If Mr. Gallowglas keeps this up I fear we will lose him as one of the best indie writers out there because a large publishing firm is going to pick up him and his fantastic series. A must read for all fantasy lovers out there, and if any book was going to make you fall in love with the genre, this one will be it!!!

Let me start with the fact that I impatienty waited for the second installment of Tears of Rage and when it came out, I was without a Kindle charger and had a dead Kindle on my hands. It was frustrating to say the least. But once I had everything situated, and my Kindle was ready to go...I was hured into the world created by Galloglas, and couldn't be happier. The author continues to excite and amazing, and sometimes throw me for a major loop with his pot twists and turns. It's worth every penny. I can honestly say I will forever be a M. Todd Galloglas fan.

I loved this second book in the "Tears of Rage" series. Mr. Gallowglas has penned a comprehensive story line with rich details that leaves me yearning for the next installment. Colorful and imaginative lore make this book a very fun and enjoyable read. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars) is in regards to the type errors that were sadly abundant. All were minor, nothing that ruined the book but a distraction nonetheless. I look forward to the next one!

Gallowglas continues the saga of Julianna as the new Lord Morigahn. Grandfather Shadow has great plans for her but first she must figure out how to use her gift of miracles if she is to beat her enemies. As always, the Gods and Goddesses are playing their own game, often placing the mortals right in the middle.

However, Julianna isn't alone. With her faithful friend, Faelin, and a band of followers, she sets out to become the most powerful Lord Morigahn the world has ever known.

What I really love about Julianna is that she doesn't just toss her power around to solve every problem. She must often use her wits more than magic, which makes her a truly awesome character. The only thing that detracted from the story was the amount of typos scattered throughout the book. Despite this, I look forward to the next book in the series to see what will happen to Julianna in her role as the Lord Morigahn.

I find the Tears of Rage series absorbing. The world here is rich and complex, as are the characters. All have good points, and all have massive flaws, which creates rather interesting situations and dynamics. There are stories within stories, plots within plots, and - let's just say everyone has a lot of room for personal growth.

I've truly enjoyed both books in the series, and found this one to be emotionally rewarding as Julianna (the new Lord Morigahn) begins to understand what "Once We Were Like Wolves" means. I'll keep reading the series to see what trouble Damian gets himself into and out of, to see if Xander ever stops being so hard on himself, to see if the House Floraen Inquisitor Luciano survives his future encounters with Julianna (I'm rooting for that, but I'm also expecting a high body count), to learn more about the intriguing Stormseekers, and to see how Grandfather Shadow adapts (or not) to a world he's been away from for 1,000 years.

The story of First Chosen continues and readers are not disappointed. The characters established in First Chosen continue down the paths before them at the end of the last novel and do not disappoint in their various arcs. New characters add interesting twists to the story so that allegiances and ties are questioned as well as certain true motives. Greater Gods and Lesser Gods maneuver people like pieces on a game board, but only Gallowglas knows where they will all end up. I will be eagerly reading Arms of the Storm to see how things change.
