This album got heavy rotation by me in the early 90's this the first album to bet a classic rating in the Source when that meant something. Full of hits, Slow Down etc. Banger Son.

Timeless classic by my favorite 5 percent brothers. sadat x, lord jamal, and grand puba's debut blew me away then and still supplies me with my hip hop fix antime I need it. Subject matter that was relevant then and still can apply to today's issues is another reason why this album will always matter in hip hop history. If you don't have this one your collection is suffering.

Hip Hop Classic!,
By HipHopFanatic (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One for All (Audio CD)
For those of you who read the Source, I must tell you that this album was a 5 mic album, the highest rating the magazine offers and one of only a handful of albums the magazine has deemed worthy of this rating. It is one of the greatest albums of all time, ranked up against other old school releases, it can stand side by side with Ultramagnetic, Kane, G Rap and BDP. The album came out in 1990 but sounds dope even today and the beats will definitely complement your system. Don't sleep on this release, if you listen to hiphop this cd is a mandatory for your collection!

Brand Nubian deliver the goods!!!!!!!!,
By Wayne Maye (Petersburg,VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One for All (Audio CD)
Brand Nubian should have been given their props(record sales wise) for this CLASSIC album. In 1990, hip hop was MUCH different than it is today, and this album is one of the reasons why. Showing much consistency is topics from social and political awareness to relationships, Brand Nubian's debut album, One For All, is a testament in the history of hip hop music. Here's the review:Album Highlights: The ENTIRE album, there's NO filler here. Production: Thumbs Up. Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up. Originality: Thumbs up. The Last Word: This album is ABSOLUTELY brilliant. Brand Nubian exhibited a certain strength on this album, which is why it's still catchy today. If artists can release albums like this today, hip hop would be so much better. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this album. Buy this today.

Wake Up!!!,

This is a good purchase!! "All for One", "Ragtime", and "Dance to my Ministry" make this a good purchase by themselves. I for one, bought it for "Slow Down" and "Wake Up" both versions. The lyrics are pretty good and are definitely thought provoking. This is a good CD to listen to when you want a change of pace from today's Rap. It has real good music and the samples are treated well.

90's Classic,
By

One of the few albums that received 5 mics in The Source. Brand Nubian speaks out about their black pride and their life styles (mainly women) with a positive message. Production curtosey of DJ Alamo and the SD 50's.
Some great tracks were: Concerto In X Minor- Dereck (so who is now known as Sadat) X speaks about the the way black are and the way that they're treated (Side note: Xzibit jacks this title and flips it around-but some of you knew that) Dance To My Minestry- Great job by Lord Jamar Wake Up- Both versions done by Grand Puba. Depends on your style in music on which version you like. I personally like the Sunshine version better than the Simulated to Dummies version. Both are superior songs. Slow Down- Dope song sending a message to women and how their sex life is out of control. I like the video also. Whenever a remastered CD comes out, I hope the video is on this. Grand Puba, Posetive, and L.G.- One of my favorites. Brand Nubian- Possibly the best song on the CD. Also one of my favorites Dedication- Grand Puba and Alamo gives shout outs to those that influenced them. This album came out in 1990. This is one of those albums you say "It's a classic" then you shut up. Its a classic!

Man its amazing to see these guys and the way you seem them on the TV is the same way you seem in the street, "real." Support Hip-hop as it's laying on the its death bed. One for all is my fav track (video version).

Hands down, a 5 star, two thumbs up, classic joint. After it dropped, Puba reigned supreeeme. Disregard the Amazon reviewer, there are no "gaffes" in this one, period... These guys were true to their beliefs. They weren't packaging a product for "pop" consumption, they were telling a generation what THEY THOUGHT. Check it out and the music will speak for itself. The best track in my opinion was "Wake UP", but the whole album was great. As someone else mentioned, fast tracks put it in the 90's but most of the tracks are relevant sound as good as ever.

a 5 star classic,
This review is from: One for All (Audio CD)
The classic One for All was the answer to- "is hip-hop dying?". Around the time, it didn't sell as much as what the West Coast had sold but definitely was a bigger seller than most of the platinum gangsta rap albums outselling it on a national level (as quoted by Alex Henderson). However, it was proven that this album stood as hip-hop's shiny, new light that would eventually open new doors for upcoming rappers at the time.
Wake Up was Puba's attempt to open the black community's minds to self-destructive issues such as drugs. While Wake Up opened the minds, their classic hit, Slow Down, reviewed the issues as to how it could destroy you. A rastafarian flavor, Who Can Get Busy Like this Man, established Puba of flippin' 'n floppin' rhymes, with a reggae beat. Fan quickly fell in love with the incredible flow of Sadat-X when he showed he was no one's shadow in Concerto in a X Minor. And if that wasn't enough for you, All for One claimed clubs and the whole underground with its pump gridin' production. Personal favorite= Slow Down Honorable mentions= All for One, Ragtime and Dance to my Ministry
