5.0 out of 5 stars not just for Moms!
It's about time a sensible cook book for young parents is available. We now have 3 children, 2 full time jobs and have used the One-Armed cook regularly. The simple, yet healthy recipes are easy to master even for an 'amateur' like myself. The authors emphasize an organized approach to the kitchen which makes meal time a pleasure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great cooking advice, but not my favorite recipes
This had great cooking advice, but a lot of the recipes needed ingredients that I cannot get where I live. There were also a lot of complex recipes that really didn't help save time. Overall it was a good book for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandma loves cooking the recipes too!, July 16, 2005

The easy-delicious recipes made me really look good when we took care of the exhausted-new parents and baby for two weeks.

Of the sixteen recipes that I tried, during our two-week visit, the family said that every one turned out delicious and elegant! I'm not that secure of a cook either. The slow-cooker recipes are fabulous too.

Beside the recipes, the ideas for new mothers are a great read!

The One-Armed Cook is a great gift for new parents. I've sent copies to four parents of new-borns and they were all enthusiastic about the recipes and the easy directions. But you don't have to be a new parent to find this cookbook handy. I've been cooking for more than 50 years and am delighted that I purchased a copy for myself because the recipes are original and excellent, and the instructions in a step-by-step order are so easy to follow. I'm even hoping that this cookbook will induce my husband to try his hand at cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for parents of all ages!, June 30, 2006
While shopping for a relative's baby shower, the catchy title of this book caught my eye. Mother of a four year old, I realize how challenging the beginning of motherhood is, as well as how challenging it remains. Time for elaborate cooking is nonexistant, espcially while working full time, and this book offers many timesaving and smart tips. The recipes are easy and taste wonderful. It is the first cookbook I have read cover to cover!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, January 26, 2007
My husband and I bought this book at a baby expo where we met the writers. I decided to start trying out recipes in this book while waiting for our daughter's arrival.

The asian chicken drumsticks were the best I have ever had. I called my mother right away so she could make it too! This book just proves that very few ingredients can make an awesome dish.

The recipes are simple, preparation time is short, and the food is delicious. I can't wait for the second book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic recipes and ideas for anyone!, November 4, 2006
This book gives wonderful suggestions for helping a busy mom de-stress when planning for a crowd. The Mediterranean Chicken is the tastiest chicken dish my family and I have ever tasted!! I highly recommend that dish!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cookbook for All!, January 12, 2008
By
I received this cookbook as a birthday gift over a year ago and it is - by far - the best, most useful cookbook I've ever owned. I was a decent cook (definitely not a chef!) but, over the past year, this book has elevated tremendously my ability to provide delicious meals for my family. My husband even publicly commented about this recently at a party we were attending! I knew I liked the recipes, but I didn't realize that he had noticed so much!

The recipes are wonderful, delicious, and easy to prepare, and even the non-recipe chapters are full of useful information (such as how to stock your pantry). I can't recommend this book highly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what a mother of five needed!, December 29, 2007
I have raved about this cookbook to my friends. I have several cookbooks but the recipes in this one are actually for meals the children WILL eat! Yay!!!! :) The meals are easy to prepare, simple and delicious! I especially love the sections on planning simple get togethers (with specific menus all spelled out) and the slow cooking section. I use this book several times a week and have to say I finally have more selection for what to make for dinner and I'm enjoying the variety too. BUY IT!

I bought this book not for a new mother but for a busy mom, I would buy this book again without hesitation for baby showers in the future.
