About the Author

As a young adult in Israel, Orly Avineri had studied Fine Art in an artists' village overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and later, in the Netherlands, Graphic Design at the University of Arts in the contemporary yet history-drenched city of Utrecht. Now living by the beach of Southern California with her family, Orly takes in all the magnificence of the landscapes that shaped her and the visual languages acquired along the way. She is passionate about teaching art-making and visual-journaling and about the process of marrying multiple media to create a unique visual experience for herself and others.

I had high expectations when I purchased this book but this book exceeded my expectations by far! Orly doesn't tell you 'how' to create journal pages but inspires you with her writing and her vivid visual pages. There is something about the book that makes it feel immediate and personal. The diversity of her imagery is powerful and her wisdom is endless. Highly recommended!

Orly has turned her amazing blog [...] into a book. Imagine if you will holding her blog in your hands, you can actually see the amazing detail and depth of the images and read her insightful blog postings right here in this book. Each word seems to be carefully chosen. THIS IS NOT A HOW TO BOOK. This is an art book and so much more.

I was happy to be one of the first to receive her book, and to be able to hold it in my hands and carefully read each page. In my opinion Orly's revolutionary book is going to change how art journaling is presented and viewed. This is an amazing art book. It is very intimate as if you are looking in Orly's personal art journal. These pages are sooo lush. So dense with imagery and powerful words, intimate words. Viewing her blog it is easy miss the amazing details and depth of her artwork, here you can enjoy each and every spread and page. I found the book to be very moving. It is going to create a shift in thought about art journaling. Folks are going to want to see more artist's blogs and works turned into books. This is a look into the very speacial world of artist Orly Avineri.

Extraordinarily rich with gorgeous, diverse imagery - you will find so many paths to wander through and get lost in between these pages, leaving you feeling enchanted, amused, intrigued, challenged, and thoroughly inspired. Orly's spreads evoke such a wide range of emotions, that are not only delightful to stroll through and simply enjoy, but can also be quite a powerful impetus for one's own creations - the wheels start turning and a new fire is sparked. Thank you Orly for sharing some fascinating and beautiful slices of your world. I am completely moved and pumped up by every page!

If you love to create, and you can't wait to get a peek at the process of another artist, this is the book for you! I know there are lots and lots of creative books to chose from. And I know what it feels like to get a wonderful new book, totally different than any other. One Artist Journal is just such a book!! Orly chronicles her life through visual journaling, the ups and downs are captured in marvelous color and humor. Through the process of putting brush, crayon, ink, paint, image, glue, varnish, pencil and pen to paper - Orly gives each of us a part of herself, and gently, we are awakened to our own creative core. It is so much fun to turn to each new page! And, of course, you can learn a lot of new techniques picking apart how on earth she "did that"!

Not only do i have Orly's book, i feel like she left her journal for me to inspire me to connect with my
most gifted passion, my own art work. what i love about her book she writes about the creative process, and asks many questions that are also my questions, so i feel at home in her book.....and the style of her book is in art journal format, rich with artwork, and many blank spots that i could include my own art and my own thoughts. this journal is a spiritual journey for me.....it came just at the right time. thank you orly....
