At almost 62 years of age, I wasn't sure that this book would be of any assistance -- I hadn't worked out in some time, and had aches that made me nervous about trying a fitness program. However, I got immediately engaged, involved, and found that the book spoke to me and my needs perfectly. There is so much information, presented so clearly, that targets everyone. I'm now moving more easily, and most importantly, looking forward to moving, for a change.

The Best Diet I have ever done!,
By
This review is from: One Body, One Life: Six Weeks to the New You (Hardcover)
I have been trying to diet and work out for many years now. My problem was, i didn't know how to diet and all I knew was running. Eventually, I just got bored.
Reading this book help explain everything about food and most importantly was on the lables!!! Which is what I love about it the most. To me, its not dieting - its how to eat right. And if you can keep in mind what is good for you, it should be no problems carrying this routine over after you lose the weight. And you won't feel as guilty when you snack one some sugar deserts. And the weekly workouts are amazing. I love the fact that he rotates between yoga, pilates, martial arts, core interval and strength training. I have yet to get bored with anything yet and I am on my 5th week. The detoxing is really not as bad as it appears to be. It can get boring but when you realize how much of a difference it makes, you will continue. The first weekend I got rid of 4lbs of toxins in my body, which i found extremely impressive. Don't be fooled though, detoxing is not a way of losing weight. Its getting rid of the toxins in your body. So don't expect to see a dramatic weight loss after every weekend of detoxing. Like I said, I on my 5th week and I am seeing great results!! Don't get the wrong idea, just because he is a celebrity trainer training YOU, it does not mean by the end of the 6 weeks you will look like Demi Moore. But I am more than positive that within another 6 weeks I won't be too far behind! if you plan to seriously commit yourself, then this book is definatly for you! I guarenteed you will be happy!

Great for Beginners But Intermediate and Advance Folks Look Elsewhere,

I am a big fan of Gregory's holistic approach to fitness; his interpretation of mind, body, and spirit or soul whichever one floats your fancy.
I think you do have to incorporate all the elements of fitness, good nutrition, but also the MIND, the Infinte Powerful tool that many of us think we are subject to, however in Truth we are in control of our Minds. I bought the book knowing these prinicples and they defintely reinforced, however came away with the thought that this book is more for beginners. Intermediate and advance who are honest with themselves already know most of the information contained herein. If you want to incorporate more mental toughness into your workout there are a few pointers here, or I recommend any of the "new thought" books from the likes of Ernest Holmes.

Great martial arts moves.,
By Eric O. Odera "Audio programs for your fitnes... (www.ericodera.com , NY, New York) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

Upon looking at the book, I was struck by the fitness I.Q section. This is a great tool for many beginner exercisers. It gives you an idea of who you are, and at the same time there is the self affirmation aspect.I feel that there is something powerful about knowing yourself-it is the beginning of greatness.
Gregory has a section in the book that deals iwth "Cleaning your body of toxins".Recently, I've been paying attention to this phenomenon and I was impressed by Gregory's knowledge. How many people for example know that toxins in the body contribute to gallstones, headaches, depression, abscess and constipation? I found this to be amazing, in the sense that we have soo many pharmaceutical products out there, that are meant to treat these conditions....while a simple solution would involve getting rid of toxins in the body. last but not least,I fell in love with the martial arts exercises that he has in the book.My clients love them!, thank you Gregory!!

AN EASY READ WITH AMAZING RESULTS,
By
This review is from: One Body, One Life: Six Weeks to the New You (Hardcover)
this was the first fitness book i've purchased that read like a great novel.
when i first received my copy of this book i thought, probably just another book i'd never get through... i was wrong. it wasn't just another book about changing my body, but the easy read through the cover and chapters prior to the exercises, changed my point of view and my thoughts about the results i was looking to see in my body. Roche's one on one conversations with the reader throughout the book, cured my lack of commitment i'd had with so many other fitness books. when i started doing the exercises/ workouts, the results in my body were visible within the first couple of sessions, weeks later the sessions are habital. but most important for me, was the mental clarity i now have about my self image, and why Roche's way of training made me love working out... the obvious physical change was just truely icing on the cake.

Interesting book with diverse excercises,

This review is from: One Body, One Life: Six Weeks to the New You (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed reading this book. I like how he gives you a talk and asks you questions that determine if your going to stick with the program or not. Questions like: Why are you doing this? What kind of results do you want to see in the next 6 weeks? and Will you succeed?-There were important questions he asked that helped me develope a mantra (phrase for inspiration) that I could use whenever I doubted if or why I was doing this.
Now for the excercises. The first day was strength training day. I had trouble with the first excercise. You had to lie on your side supported by the sides of your feet and forearm and lift your whole body up for the count of 30 seconds. I could only do this for 3 seconds. So at least one of the excercises was a bit TOO challenging. I'm 100 lbs. overweight and I'll have to loose some before I can do this one. But I can still benefit from the other excercises. I like the diversity of workouts: strength training for one day, yoga, pilates, karate, and core excercises for the other days. It will help you not to get bored. I've decided I'm going to buy the book, alothough I don't get into the mind and spirit part of the plan. Right now I just have a library copy, but I will check it out again until I can get a copy of my own. Rhonda

This review is from: One Body, One Life: Six Weeks to the New You (Hardcover)
This book is a pleasure to read, not only for its content but for its style. It has clear, concise explanations of the body/mind connection, inspirational motivation, and all one needs to know-and no more - of nutrition information. Plus an interesting and wide range of body workouts. Joujon-Roche divides his six week program into three, two week segments of increasing intensity, which keeps the process of fitness/weight loss energized. Get this fabulous book and do it!
