From the Author

We expect you will be inspired by the ability of designers from all walks of life to push beyond pre-established views of what one-color design should be. It is our hope that this book becomes part of our industry’s collective reach for excellence.

Given the current economy, designers are faced with more and more challenges to produce effective design on limited budgets. To be able to elevate what is often mistakenly thought of as a simple solution and showcase it as a viable, successful, and preferred option seems timely and useful for designers from all walks of life. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars One-Color Graphics, November 7, 2002
By A Customer
I really think this book deserves a better rating than two stars. This book shows how one color graphics can be beautiful and impactful too. This book is not a book for learning photoshop technique but for learning how to have a good layout with just one color. Person that buy this book to learn about photoshop has found a wrong book. As a graphic designer, dealing with clients want one color graphic most of the time, I find this book very useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Showcase book, not much instruction, July 28, 2005

This review is from: One-Color Graphics: The Power of Contrast (Paperback)
I suppose I didn't read the reviews closely enough but I was surprised that this was a showcase book. I was expecting some instruction but there is absolutely none -- at least not textually. That is not the fault of the author but I'm including this in my comment to clarify for other potential buyers. I am teaching myself design and am not at the level where I can learn just by looking at other examples. I am sure for those with formal design educations or with professional experience this book will hold much more inspiration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Experiential and college learning, April 17, 2004
By A Customer
Agree that book is a good resource for folks who are expanding their tech skill base. Unfair to trash designers who didn't "get it all" in college. 1) Have been designing myself for 20 yrs +" and I KNOW my skill base requires constant fine tuning. Luckily I enjoy learning. 2) College graphics classes have little time to teach a lot of material, now to include web, much of it conceptual. 3) Print is inherently complex because of its permanence. Have yet to meet a young designer who got the tech stuff in the classroom. That's what internships are for. "Rock on", young designers, you'll be learning forever.
