5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have CD
I purchased this album after hearing "Sigh" played on the local smooth jazz channel. It is a beautiful piece of music and has become extremely popular in the SF Bay Area. The other tracks on the CD are very good such as "Teardrop Butterfly". It is difficult to catagorize the Album. Smooth Jazz with a New Age twist? Or perhaps Exotic is the best way...

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Different but overdone
Praful is certainly different as well as entertaining but some of the songs are a little looong and somewhat overdone (on purpose?) Some of his stuff brings to mind some of the so called "art" rock of the mid 70's which was somewhat bombastic although still endearing. Not a 9 as some would suggest, but at least a 7.5.

The more you listen to the CD the more fascinating it becomes. Great music to listen to on those long commutes. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the album. Even if only purchased for "Sigh"...it's well worth the dollars.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Day Deep, November 4, 2003

Like others, I heard the song "Sigh" on our local smooth jazz channel. I was in the car but when I got home, I immediatly called the radio station to get info about the artist. I ordered the CD not even knowing if there was another song I would like. Much to my amazement, the entire CD is AWESOME. All my friends like it. I am very amazed more songs are not getting play time on the airways. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY Good Collection of World Beat Music, March 11, 2004

Probably like most, I was first attracted to Praful after hearing 'Sigh' played from the 'One Day Deep' CD on a local New Age, Celtic, World-Beat and Light Jazz themed radio program... Then sometime later, I heard another track from the same CD played on the nationally syndicated NPR program 'Echoes' and decided I had waited long enough to buy the CD...

After receiving the CD, I discovered I had waited long enough indeed... Much to my surprise, the CD is a very well balanced collection of World-Beat type music that while not necessarily in the very same genre as 'Sigh', is just as fresh and original...

This is one of those very rare 'new artist' CDs that you can enjoy over and over again, and any fan of World-Beat and New Age music will I'm sure like me find it a good investment of their time and money...

I've got a feelin' we're gonna be hearin' a LOT more about and from Praful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me SIGH!, September 5, 2003

I also bought this CD after hearing "Sigh" on the radio...I had to pull over to make sure I got the name of the artist...after I bought it, I went straight to the song SIGH and listened to that one song about 4000 times...(okay, a bit compulsive, I admit). Eventually, I listened to the rest of the CD.

What a great discovery! The WHOLE CD is a gem...I play it at parties and it always gets people in a great mood...sometimes it never leaves the CD player and no one ever complains. (okay, my friends are a bit compulsive too)..

This CD has an awesome vibe. Buy it, play it and you'll be "sighing" too!

5.0 out of 5 stars And they are awesome live as well, October 23, 2003

Awesome. . .Praful presented their album during the Catalina Jazz Festival 2003. I, like many of you, heard "Sigh" many times on our local Smooth Jazz station. I was truly enlightened by their great presence and ability to connect with the crowd. Also, I was impressed with the groups smooth flow as they selectively drew in a new audience with each cut. Needless, to say I became a proud listening an CD buying fan. In the future, if you have an opportunity to see them in persons, enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal, February 6, 2004

Sigh also got my attention. Our local Jazz station's DJ gave me the impression that the group was "Sigh" and pronounced the name as "Perfull"...I did a number of futile internet searches before I finally heard the correct pronunciation/spelling of Praful. I have found the entire CD to be soothing, invigorating and sexy - all at the same time. I listen to it and always smile, sway or end up dancing outright regardless of what I am doing at the time. My CD has joyously entertained babies, toddlers and grandmothers - everyone loves to move to it.

I know it would be wonderful driving music but I need to have my car player repaired. This CD is the best incentive to get that taken care of. I love it and want more Praful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Grooves, January 14, 2004

My wife bought this CD for the same reason everyone else did...the "Sigh" track. Altho its a nice groove, its not my favorite track. But thats not criticism because all the tracks on this CD are good...makes me wistful for the old Grove Salad from SOMA FM out of SF. If you like stuff from Boards of Canada, Green Issac and such, you'll enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praful - One Day Deep, October 6, 2003

I never heard of Praful before until this past weekend I attended the famous Jazz Trax festival in Catalina Island. I have never seen and heard such feeling and emotion as I did watching and listening to Praful. Their grove is not just housewife music, IT IS MUSIC TO MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE AND MOVE YOUR SOUL!!!!! Praful is the kind of beat that gets you up and dancing in seconds flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars "SIIIIIIIIGH"!!!, May 21, 2004
This review is from: One Day Deep (Audio CD)
That about sums up my feelings about Praful's One Day Deep, a truly ambitious and exotic affair that features some impressive music including the title track , "Let the Tears Fall", "Teardrop Butterfly", "Underworld", "Sigh" and "Sinus Funktion". But Praful's music isn't just jazz, it's funk, house, salsa and world music, too, all done quite nicely by this jack-of-all-trades musician and vocalist. Rarely will you find a new artist on the scene this amazing. Get this CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Day Deep, April 28, 2004

The first time I listened, I was confused. Then I listened again. Hmmm. Then I listened a third time. Wow. And a fourth, really into it. I have found I need to listen to this cd just about every night. Have I become addicted to it? The first time I heard snippets, I compared it to "watching a lava lamp while incredibly stoned". It's great background music for reading, entertaining, making love. The sound is a combination of jazz, Indian, French, New Age, and disco. Weird. Hypnotic. Definitely worth listening to...again, and again, and again....
